I doubt if they'll hire someone who doesn't go along with the year round football training. IMHO that limits the number of really good coaches who'd consider it. Most top coaches want complete control of their program during basketball season.

I saw that you had 12th region officials. If you had a well officiated game you were fortunate. I don't recall them calling an illegal screen all year in their own region............

I agree with not playing back to back but even regions like the 8th, who put it off a week are going back to back.

Usually the KHSAA is pretty much top down when it comes to dates. Dead period in the summer, the first day you can start practice, etc. They decide and everyone has to adapt.

I understand that. My question was more about why the different regions aren’t finishing at the same time.

I know this has been an odd year scheduling the boy’s and girl’s state tournaments but why are the regional tournaments finishing at such different times? 10 of the regions are finished and 6 are still playing. You could make an argument that it gives the regions that are finished with their tournament an unfair advantage since they have more time to rest and recover before starting the state tournament. Is it simply due to the size of the regions?

Any idea on streaming for these next games?

Henderson County has a good game plan and they’re executing well.

Given that the Massey ratings are looking at data for the entire season it’s easy to see why they missed that one. DCA with Grace Mbugua is a totally different team and even once she started play again in January it took awhile for things to click. They’re not going to knock off a Sacred Heart but in the match up with Daviess County it became apparent early on that it was a mismatch.

Interesting. I took a quick look at them and they appeared to match pretty well with the Massey ratings. One weakness of these ratings is that they don't account for a team picking up some losses early in the season. DCA is in that category because Grace Mbugua hadn't returned from her injury yet. They lost 4 games before she came back. They might be a little better than #29. I think it would be a useful exercise to rank the teams based on their last few games (maybe the last 10?). Some teams just keep on improving as the season goes on while others peak and even decline close to tournament time.

About 3 hours ago. On page 3. You posted some scores and some links. There's a link there to a bracket and there are ratings on it.

I was going by the numbers by each team on the bracket you posted. They appear to match up with the Massey ratings. I'm not sure on your calpreps question.

Looking at the ratings it appears that there have been 3 upsets (based on what the teams were rated) in 10 games.

You’re right. They have an 8th grader who has potential but she’ll need to learn how to control the pace of the offense. They’ll have 4 of their top 6 back but handling pressure will be a concern.

I totally agree. I wouldn't take that chance either. I worked as an assistant coach to a 12th region coach (who shall remain nameless) and I never could figure out some of his decisions. Some were based on superstition, others on long held grudges dating back to his playing days, others because he just couldn't keep his emotions in check.

I have no idea as to why coaches make the decisions they do but Southwestern was still pressing and DCA has nobody on the bench who can get the ball up the floor. He put in players 6, 7, and 8 but left Quisenberry and Mbugua in to advance the ball.

I talked to someone on Saturday who is definitely in a position to know and he said the exact same thing. In fact, it extends to some of the players.

Boyd fouled him going for a steal. That was it, he didn't initiate anything else. Lewis shoved him after the play was over and the technical was deserved.
