They sit on the catwalk at the other end of the gym so they definitely didn't have a good angle on it. I was at basket level on that end and it looked good to me though it was definitely close. Here's a screenshot of when Lual's hand hit the ball. If it was goaltending it wasn't as clear cut as several people are claiming. The officials missed a few calls, in fact they missed Lewis's travel on the very next play.

I had a good view of that play. It wasn’t in the cylinder.

Pulaski has always had a good feeder program that I can remember.

The Massey Ratings for defense are similar to these numbers. Of the teams that made it to the Region: DCA is 5, Mercer 13, Lincoln 14, PC 47, West Jessamine 48, Somerset 54, Wayne 70, Southwestern 104.

I think you make a good point but I'd add that it's not just enrollment, demographics come into play. There don't seem to be as many good players per class in the rural areas. And, when you do get some talented kids they often come in waves. You might have 3 or 4 good sophomores but you'll usually have to wait until they're a little older to see them be competitive on a state wide level. Boyle County's football success has kind of distorted the picture for the area schools that have lost dual sport athletes who transfer there for football. That has definitely hurt Danville. That is a much bigger factor now than it used to be.

I think DCA's lower scores are a bit deceptive and lead people to conclude they deliberately play at a slower pace. That is true if you're just looking at half court offense. They don't shoot a lot of threes, they probably average half the number of three point attempts the rest of the better teams in the region average. That leads to them work the ball around while looking for a decent shot. However, they get out and run anytime they have the chance and let their defensive pressure create opportunities. A big part of their lower scores is that their defensive pressure leads to their opponents struggling to get good shots. If they're playing a team that is well coached and disciplined it might lead their opponent to pass the ball around for a minute or longer while looking for a good shot.

The Lincoln/PC game could go either way. I heard someone say it’ll probably go off at 36-35 and Jackson will be fine with that. I’d say the only prediction I have is that it will be low scoring. I’d say based on their record and strength of schedule it will be Mercer over Wayne.

In the semifinals on Friday it will be Rockcastle versus Wayne County and Southwestern versus DCA.

I'd like to see them play at least once during the regular season, maybe alternate a home and away schedule. Then, they might meet up in the All A and again in the Regional. They've usually got decent teams and it's a pretty easy drive.

I'm pretty sure the boy's games will be on the wpbk fm channel on YouTube. The girl's 12th region games should be on the Maroon Sports Network on YouTube.

Thanks. There are a few in the 12th who should have hung it up a few years ago. For the most part they are pretty good but there are some who are a bit arrogant.

Is that good or bad?

Any opinions on what to expect in the 12th Region tournament? It looks like there are some pretty good teams. There are 4 with RPI's over .600. There are also 4 with only 0 to 3 regional losses. The bottom half of the bracket looks especially strong with West Jessamine, DCA, and Southwestern ranked at 1 - 3 in the RPI. Pulaski is also in that bracket and they are not a pushover with a 19-11 record and will be playing at home. Some wild cards. DCA doesn't have a regional loss since Grace Mbugua has been back. West Jessamine has suffered some injuries but are still unbeaten in regional competition. It could be a competitive and interesting tournament.

In the 12th it's 109 miles from Lexington (Trinity Christian) to Whitley City (McCreary Central). I'm not sure on the actual distance between the 2 schools.

Bryan Station is #10, Ashland #15, and Ballard #20. At the time DCA played Woodford they were top 10 but they’ve fallen off since then.

Based on the Massey Ratings the strength of schedule for the top three in the 12th looks like: Strength of Schedule: DCA - 70 Mercer - 72 PC - 81

I'm not sure about Region 5 or 10, but in the case of Region 12, Grace Mbugua has average 23 and 13, her team has not been beaten in regional competition since she returned, and she led them to the All A state championship. I understand what you're saying but IMHO she deserves the player of the year honor.

Lincoln over Boyle 50-46. Lincoln had a 13 point lead and Boyle came back to tie in the 4th quarter.

DCA - 55 Danville - 42

DCA over Danville 55-42. Danville with a good effort and some hot shooting in the first half, especially by Paige. DCA was led by Boyd and Ateny.

Who are you referring to?

One constant in the 2 games they've played so far this year was that both teams will shoot a lot of threes. Lincoln lit it up in the 2nd game but not the 1st one. If either team is really hot from the outside it will probably determine the outcome. The other factor was that Boyle had a lot more free throw attempts but didn't shoot very well. 9/20 the first game and 8/17 the second. It looks like a toss up to me.
