DCA had their way with SW the entire time.  Kept their starters in the entire game other than maybe last 20 secs.  So I will assume SW Coach Molden was building frustration for 2 hrs.

I don't think the refs had their best games, but 3 to 4 mins left SW hit a three, ref calls a an off ball foul on DCA as shot is the the air.  Ref was confused if she should count the basket.  SW bench goes crazy.  2 techs given to SW.  Grandma of one of the players goes bizerk in stands gets escorted out, tries to flash the crowd.

Then 30 seconds to go, SW tries to empty their bench.  Ref 2 feet away from Molden won't recognize him for 5 secs.  Ref across court blows whistle.

Then the ref that was playing deaf has words with assistant coach and has her escorted out.

Crazy scene that I thought made SW look pretty bad.  AD and Prinicpal looked to be working hard to keep things calm.  Thought Molden handled himself decent but other coaches (fans) and some players did not.

Sorry for long story.

SW has reputation as one of the worst fan bases and overall bad sports from the coaching staff on down when it comes to girls basketball in the 12th region.

I talked to someone on Saturday who is definitely in a position to know and he said the exact same thing.  In fact, it extends to some of the players.

Not excusing the behavior, but just out of curiosity.

Why did DCA keep their starters in up 30?

I have no idea as to why coaches make the decisions they do but Southwestern was still pressing and DCA has nobody on the bench who can get the ball up the floor.  He put in players 6, 7, and 8 but left Quisenberry and Mbugua in to advance the ball.

Gotcha. I'd be hesitant to keep Grace in meaningless minutes after a knee injury, but I'm sure he knows the team the more than I do. Lol

I totally agree.  I wouldn't take that chance either.

I worked as an assistant coach to a 12th region coach (who shall remain nameless) and I never could figure out some of his decisions.  Some were based on superstition, others on long held grudges dating back to his playing days, others because he just couldn't keep his emotions in check.

That doesn't sound promising for the future when those two seniors are gone.

You’re right.  They have an 8th grader who has potential but she’ll need to learn how to control the pace of the offense.  They’ll have 4 of their top 6 back but handling pressure will be a concern.
