Nope, they are hired by conferences. He does not work in the SEC very often. He used to work in the big 12 but has had to expand to get games for some reason.

Why would they be interested in a high school assistant coach with no HC experience. You would think they could get a good coach with HC experience for this job. Maybe one of the assistants at Austin Peay or Western would be interested.

The Man for the job!

I know several officials in all sports. One of the problem they tell me is the assignors are not held accountable by their policy boards. They do what they want to and treat their officials like dirt and they quit or go to other regions. The buddy system is really a problem as many assignors have worked with the older officials and they take care of them leaving the younger guys out. The state needs to take responsibility on this part of the problem. In NKY we will probably have to play games on Thursday nights due to the shortage.

Urban Meyer is on the short list along with Coach E from LSU!

Not many assistants state wide would move without any guarantee of a job? In Northern Ky they usually stay pretty close to home unless they are fresh out of college.

I think they will get a proven coach that has coached at a high level 5 or 6 A and has won at a consistent rate. No way will this new school settle for a lower class 2 or 3 A unless they have several Rings? With all of the talent in that district they should be in the finals on a regular basis!

Barnes has never won a big game has he? Johns would be an interesting pick as he has done a good job at Union. I am sure the best candidate will get this job and I assume several top coaches will apply.

Really nothing wrong with a coach in their early 60’s. When they get to 70 plus you have to be a special type of coach. Experience counts!

Is Marty still coaching? He might be a good one to rehire if his son does not make the move!
