How did this go?

According to the voting polls nobody did except for O fans. I hope O can give St. X a much better game than last year’s running clock. Has O ever beat St.X before? South Warren will be ok. I still see them being a top team in 6A with all they return. Not having York sets them back in the run department. Their pass attack is going to be their bread and butter early on. I really like Page at QB, made some nice throws.

The questions surrounding Owensboro’s Oline was answered tonight. South Warrens defense/Dline is never lack luster. Ganaway had enough time to throw the ball and Walker had good enough blocking to get some decent runs. IMO the Oline looks better than last years Oline. This Red Devils offense should be able to light the score board up this season.

That St. X game just got that much more interesting.

Gavin Walker is a STUD! Definitely softens the blow of losing Hampton to graduation.

I’m not 100% sure. There still might be some Varsity play early in the 3rd.

Might be easier said than done. This Devils defense is pretty stout.

Freshman RB #22 Gavin Walker is going to be a PROBLEM for opponents.

Yeah South Warren is known for having a stout DLine. Will be a good test for the Devils. If the Oline can hold long enough for Ganaway to get some good throws off. That will be good news heading into wk1 St. X game.

Apollo should be able to do whatever they want offensively to Caldwell. Their defense is what worries me. I’m interested to see who’s going to step up for them. Either way Apollo should blow the doors off Caldwell if they want to be considered a threat in 5A.

South Warren Spartans takes a trip up to Rash Stadium to take on the Owensboro Red Devils in a pre-season match up. Both teams are coming off strong 2025 seasons. I admit I don’t know too much about the Spartans other than they’re always in the state title conversation and have great coaching. Owensboro is coming in off a pretty good first scrimmage against a strong 2A Mayfield squad. South Warren should give the Devils a better look be a top team in 6A. Who do you have coming out on top and why?

I’m not sure about Ryle at 10 and I’d switch St. X and South Warren. Just based off how well they played Trinity.

That very well maybe the case. I wouldn’t sleep on the Devils this year either. I like having both of the schools on the schedule, it shows O what they need to work on early. As shown last year losing these games won’t dictate whether or not O wins 5A.

Purples looking good. Fully expect them to be a 5A contender.

Call me overly optimistic. The Red Devils have enough depth and talent this year to be very competitive with both St. X and CAL. I say we take 1 of the 2 down, my guess would be St. X.

QB had time to throw. And GJ a mobile QB so a touch type scrimmage limits him. What are some areas we need to figure out?

O’s line looked good to me too. Lots of size and strength. Didn’t seem like the Devils were worried about scoring as much as they were wanting to try different looks and personnel. Walker averaged 20 plus yards a carry. Would have to think in a real game situation the Devils just keep running him in the red zone. Devils moved the ball with relative ease between the 20’s. As far as the pass goes GJ looked rusty but hats off to Mayfield they defended the pass much better than I thought they would. For the other teams in the O’s district who thought the Devils would be down because of the Oline. Well, they’re even bigger and better this year(still young) and Walker will have a Hampton type career at RB. Kid is a beast.

Wow is Madisonville down or is OC just picking up where they left off?

Both teams look pretty solid on defense and both teams need some fine tuning of the offense. Mayfield’s will be a 2A contender that’s forsure

Have to give Mayfield their props. They have some athletes and some good size. I believe they would be the 3rd best team on Owensboro's schedule. Much better team at this point than last year.
