Apollo goes to Princeton tonight to play the Tigers of Caldwell County.

I have heard alot from @jester270 and @ApolloFan98 that this offense can be one of the best in school history. I really want to see their defense step up, which I heard they did against Meade County. I'm really waiting next week when they play Murray.

Who do you have in this matchup?

Apollo should be able to do whatever they want offensively to Caldwell. Their defense is what worries me. I’m interested to see who’s going to step up for them. Either way Apollo should blow the doors off Caldwell if they want to be considered a threat in 5A.

How did this go?

@jester270 will know more because he was there. I was told by an assistant coach the score after varsity was 7-6 Apollo. Now JV and Freshmen I have no idea. Not a good showing by the Apollo offense I heard, but they didn't play but 1 starter at WR and I don't think Max played the whole first half. If they played with out Rice, Lillipop and Green then I see they kept it really basic.

Also, there is something going around about Murray High Coaching Staff filming the game. Is this illegal? and what's the penalty from the KHSAA?

Who is Max Johnson’s replacement? Maybe Apollo is working on building depth?

Illegal to film? No.

Frowned upon? Yes.

Am I surprised? Absolutely not.

From what I heard, Apollo was really focusing on depth at the WR position this week. With that in mind, they moved the ball GREAT. 2 fumbles, a few dropped passes killed those drives. Defensively, their offense had them in bad spots, but managed to have some great stops. Caldwell's QB has been a 3 year starter (?) and he has improved every year that Apollo has played them. Their defensive ends played really well, too.

The key positive that I can take away from this scrimmage is the great showing by Apollo's defense, but offensively, they had way too many mistakes. It will be interesting to see how they game plan against Murray. Apollo struggled in the Caldwell scrimmage last year, but turned around and hung with Murray the following week. If they can eliminate mistakes and turnovers, they will be right there with them again.
