Young man has a heck of a leg. He will come in real handy for Manual this year. When your offense can at least put up 3 points when you at least get to your 35 yard line & your opponents constantly start at their 20 after kickoffs, it makes a huge difference.

Definitely a good confidence boost & I expect Highlands to be right in the thick of things in 4A, but I really believe this is a 5-5 Male team, at best, heading into the playoffs. I anticipate them getting running clocked 2 or 3 times this year.

He definitely did. Not sure who he was but he was putting his kickoffs out the back of the end zone

CAL defense holds. Manual turns it over on downs. It appears instead of 10 & 10, they just traded series & will now go JV scrimmage.

CAL takes the opening kickoff, drives about 55 yards but turns it over on a fumble. Manual ball on their 20. 1st and 10 with 8:30 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Apparently format has changed. 3rd quarter appears to be the same as the 1st & 2nd quarters & is live as well.

Teams trade a pair of defensive stops to end the half. CAL 10-6. That pretty much concludes the “live” scrimmage. Plenty for both teams to work on.

CAL drives the ball about 15 yards but is forced to punt. Manual takes over but throws an INT on their 1st play. CAL ball; 1st & 10 at the 50 with 1:47 left in the 2nd quarter.

Manual drives the ball into CAL territory but settled for a 54 YD FG. 2:36 left in the 2nd quarter; 10-6 CAL.

Manual drives the ball to the CAL 25, but 2 straight sacks by Kellan Hall & a 3rd down INT gives the ball back to CAL at their 20. 1st and 10 CAL with 9:30 to go in the 2nd quarter. 7-3 CAL

CAL takes their opening kickoff at the 20. Drives the ball 80 YDS with ease for the TD (Burke to Hobbs). XP is good. 3:36 left in the 1st quarter; 7-3 CAL

Manual takes the opening kickoff and drives the ball 75 yards, but settles for a 22 YD FG. 8:07 left in the 1st; 3-0 Manual.

Will be interested to see how the QB situation plays out for BE over the course of the year.

CAL heads to Manual Stadium on Friday to get some work in against the Crimsons. Scrimmage is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Format of the scrimmage is below: 1st and 2nd quarters are live Varsity with non-live special teams After halftime, each team will get 10 plays on offense and defense Finally, after the 10 and 10, the scrimmage will conclude with a short JV scrimmage

Two more young players I expect to have big years for KCD are SO WR DJ Lawless & SO LB Eric Forney. Both are solid football players. I believe DJ led them in receiving last year and Eric had over 10 tackles in the state championship game last year.

The CAL team that went to EKU consisted of 8 freshmen, 7 sophomores & 3 juniors. CAL’s backup QB, who is a sophomore, was unavailable, so one of the juniors that went is normally a WR, but played QB on Saturday b/c they didn’t have one. that's the only reason why he went. CAL’s JV would be competitive with about 1/4 to maybe 1/3 of the teams in the state. The other teams would handle them.

It was an observation...nothing more, nothing less. Had that bracket been posted in the 7V7 topic on this forum, I would have said the same thing, but it was posted here instead. I understand 7v7 is a different format, which is another way of saying it has no bearing or is not a predictor of November / December success, but even so, please take a look at that bracket and tell me, on paper, which part looked easier. I'm not doubling down on what you perceive to be a backhanded compliment, but I am doubling down on my observation that it was an easier part to the bracket. I'm not coming off of that opinion, observation or whatever you want to call it, so if someone wants to have a rebuttal such as "my eyes ain't what they used to be" but CAL was in that part of the bracket, I'll come back with the fact that was CAL's JV. And when someone states Collins was in that part of the bracket and Kade Goodin is as good of a QB as any, then I'm coming back with he is, but also the fact that he is also only 1 guy and Collins is replacing 8 of their top 10 defenders from last year. I made an observation and then defended it. With all that being said, let's try this sincere compliment again....congrats to Glasgow on making it to the final 4 of a large 7v7 tournament. That is a great accomplishment and I'm sure a huge confidence booster for those young men. Now let's triple down on my observation in my original post. I think it might actually be quadrupling down by now, but I'm not sure. The top portion of the EKU 7v7 bracket that had CAL's JV team looked a lot easier than the rest. After double checking, a quick look shows that not one of those teams in that portion of the bracket advanced past the 2nd round of the either the KHSAA or OHSAA tournaments last year. Of course, I'm aware of that 7v7 has no bearing on future success when real football starts, but it was just one of those things that really stood out to me. I understand that apparently that ruffled some feathers. So be it. Now I do apologize for one thing and that is hijacking the 2026 Glasgow Scotties topic with all of this back-and-forth. I think we can leave it at I'm not changing my mind or opinion on what I said and neither am I changing any of yours. Best of luck to Glasgow this season. It appears they are looking at the potential for back-to-back, undefeated regular seasons, which is a huge accomplishment and this year, a potential deep run into the playoffs. Here's to wishing for a safe, healthy and successful season for them.

Yes is he a very solid QB, but I also know Collins is replacing 8 of their top 10 defenders from last year. That also matters in 7v7. that's another little fact for you. Again, back to my original post…great confidence boost for the Scotties to make it to the final 4 of a big 7v7 tournament, but that portion of the bracket was far from the toughest. Look at the bracket & tell me which part of that bracket was easier to get out of than the one Glasgow was in? I wish nothing but a solid, healthy season for Glasgow. I think it’s great that their fan base is excited about the upcoming season. Nothing like a solid football program to help bring a community together. Good luck this season.

CAL enters their JV in this event every year. They actually did ok going 3-3 on the day I believe. Now, back to my original point. A good confidence booster for Glasgow no doubt, but not exactly the toughest part of the bracket to advance through. I do appreciate the attempt at sarcasm, but might be good to know all the facts first.

I saw them throw against CAL, Ballard, Franklin County & Atherton. Again, it's just 7v7, but I was surprised by what appeared to be an overall lack of team speed. Take that for what you want.
