GC-Dragons

Hart has very good team speed, with some real burners if they get out in space. I’ve seen both teams in person against my Dragons and think FS more than likely wins this game by a score or less. Both teams are very good, but I think the FS line was better and had more success moving the ball against the Dragons than did Hart. I picked FS as the district champion after we scrimmaged them at the beginning of the year and see no reason to change that now. Give me FS 21-19. I do hope Hart is able to pull this out though, as rivals I respect the program they have built and hope they get their first ever district title. Good luck to both teams and hope both teams come out injury free.

Forbis was also out the Somerset game, and he’s the heart of that defense at Linebacker. I believe that explains part of giving up more points than any other game this year, and they still won that game. Did I also mention he is the leading rusher for them, Averaging around 10 yards a carry. With all that said, I still think KCD is a very good team, and could pull this one out if Campbellsville turns the ball over or has a bad night overall. Otherwise, I just don’t think KCD will be able to score enough to win this game unless those things happen.

Glasgow is a solid win, no doubt about it. They are a good football team. I would say Green County is arguably a better win than any on this list though, as their only loss on the year is Hart County. The Dragons also drilled a Barren County team that took Glasgow to the brink of a loss the week prior. I would take the Dragons over Madisonville if they played this Friday night.

The Dragons travel to Metcalfe County Friday night in a battle of bitter rivals. The Dragons and Hornets don’t like each other much, but respect each others programs a ton. Metcalfe comes in after a dominating win over Clinton County and appear fully healthy coming into this district battle. They will be led by QB Estes who has carried the load for this team while they navigated injuries to key positions this season. The Dragons come into the game looking to lock up a district title and push their record to 8-1 on the year. They will be led by QB Hodges, running back Seymour and Swiss Army knife Kelson McKinney. This Dragons team looks to be the favorite this week, but you never know how the scores will go when two bitter rivals meet up. Give me the Dragons 36-14.

Weird enough, I don’t think this game is within 2 TDs. I think Campbellsville wins this game 28-7 or 28-14. KCD is a solid team, but I think Campbellsville is at least two touchdowns better. Now, if Campbellsville turns the ball over 2-3 times I think they could lose this game, but if they play a clean game, they win going away.

I would say very similar. Campbellsville, like Russellville was, are extremely fast across the entire field defensively and get to the football as a unit. They haven’t been tested outside of the Somerset game, they have dominated everyone else. Offensively they are again like that Russellville team, they can do about everything, speed option, RPO, spread you out and throw it or spread you out and the QB keep the ball on designed runs. It’s a wide open offense, with multiple guys who can score at any given time, only issue they have at the moment is depth, and a smaller line. I think Pikeville and Raceland would just pound the ball at them all night and have success with the big guys laying on the Campbellsville front seven. I would think those games would go something like 28-7 or 35-14 type games. Campbellsville is also a very young team, who is going to be scary good next year. This team isn’t one to sleep on for the next 3-4 years.

I really look forward to seeing Paris later in the playoffs this season. They have a really solid squad, which tells you how good Raceland is with this score.

Hart County is a solid team, and I'm not surprised they won’t his game. With that said, Glasgow is a really good team in its own right, and I think the top three of this district win their first round games in the playoffs. This Glasgow team isn’t going to be an easy game in the second round for anyone.

I’ve been telling people for weeks Campbellsville is really good, and I think they will make a game of it with Raceland and Pikeville. I don’t believe they can beat either of them, but do believe they could hang within two or three touchdowns of them.

The Dragons welcome Monroe County to town this Friday at 7pm. This is a big battle between district foes, with whoever wins holding the inside edge as district champions. Monroe comes in off a bye week after a big win over Metcalfe the week before. The Dragons come in off a bye week with a running clock win over Clinton County the week prior. This should be a hard nosed and tough game, as both teams get after you and play a physical brand of football and have some good athletes on the field. Give me the Dragons 36-12.

That had to be one of the wildest sequences I’ve ever seen. A young man from Adair got three penalties and was ejected and it basically walked the ball 45 yards down the field into the red zone for Hart and they scored just before the half.

As soon as I wrote that, Hart answers a big TD to make it 16-14 Adair.

Hart hasn't played well at all, with multiple turnovers. If they continue like this, they won’t win this game.

Final from Dragon Stadium. The Dragons looked good last night and a bunch of young guys got playing time in the second half. Julian Seymour and Kelson McKinney had big games on defense and offense, and this team will go as far as those two can carry it. QB Houston Hodges threw for close to 400 yards and at least 4 TDs and didn’t play but a few minutes of the second half. I would say those type of passing numbers are close to a dragon record if they aren’t the record. The Dragons get a much needed bye week and then welcome Monroe County to town in a big district battle.

4A has to be the deepest class in the entire state. So many good teams.

The Dragons welcome Clinton County to town Thursday night in only the second home game for the Dragons this year. Clinton County will come into the game throwing the football and will attempt to score moving the ball through the air. The Dragons are very good at getting pressure on the QB, so this should be a battle of strengths. The Dragons have really started to play solid football on offense and the defense has really been impressive. I expect the Dragons to run away with this one and move to 6-1 on the year. Give me the Dragons 48-13.

Green was just a better team in every facet. Barren isn’t a bad team, they have some solid players, and the QB is very elusive, but they just couldn’t block the Dragon front 7 with the blitz scheme and didn’t have the athletes to beat the Dragons one on one on the outside. Offensively the Dragons should have scored two more times but were stopped inside of the red zone, or this would have been worse. The Dragon offense put up over 400 yards easy and this one was never in doubt after the first series of Barren turning it over on downs inside of the 20. Green Drove right down the field and scored and the Dragons dominated from that point on.

Can anyone tell me how Trinity can be two different teams from week to week? Not sure I’ve ever seen a team be this dominate against solid competition and then play 4-5 touchdowns worse the very next week. Makes for a very entertaining playoff picture.

I also want to say a prayer for the young man injured at the end of the game from Barren County tonight, he was taken away by ambulance and I’m hoping and praying he’s 100 percent ok.

Campbellsville is for real, and will play with anyone in class A not named Pikeville and Raceland, and I’m not sure they can’t play a competitive game with them.

Green County dominated this game. Might have been the most complete game of the year for the Dragons. The Dragons defense is getting better and better every week, and the offense has found its footing. The Dragons head into district play next week.

This Friday night the Dragons make the drive over to Barren County to take on the Trojans. Barren comes in to this game off a tough double overtime loss to Glasgow, in a game few saw being as close as it was. Barren also had a rough showing to Monroe County the week prior, in a game I figured they would have won. Barren does have some good speed and a very solid QB, and a solid offensive line. So don’t overlook them. The Dragons come in off a very solid showing against Larue County, in a game the Dragons dominated aside from the first 25 seconds. The Dragons had constant pressure on the QB and really played well offensively aside from a few turnovers. This should be a tough game for the Dragons. I expect this game to be a battle from the kickoff. Give me the Dragons in a tight one, 28-21.

The Dragons take care of business in the first home game of the year and move to 4-1 on the year in a final of 36-6. Next up for the Dragons is an away trip at Barren County, which should be a very competitive game.

The Dragons have dominated this game after the first seven seconds. Larue took the opening play after the kickoff for a long TD run and that’s been it for them. Green leads 36-6 with around 4 mins to go. Larue County’s QB is a wonderful athlete and plays hard. He’s electric in the open field, but has been rushed all night and hit on almost every drop back.
