I’ve watched just about every Campbellsville game this year, and they haven’t been called for maybe 5 penalties a game in average. I don’t know what’s going on with this game for the eagles, or If this crew is flag happy, but it’s been ugly in that department all night.

I would have to agree. I’m not sure the Dragons didn’t just play the state champions.

This is just a mismatch. The Dragons don’t have the guys on the outside to run with the Catholic guys. This is as good an offense as I have seen in 2A. Catholic is gonna be a problem for anyone they play on offense. I could see them winning it all, they are that good.

This is shaping up exactly how I thought it would need to for NCC to stay close all night. If they have success running the ball, I think they can win this ball game.

Hampton needs 20 plus touches a game. He’s just insanely electric with the ball in his hands.

I’m not so certain they would have killed Hart, and I am certain they wouldn’t have killed Taylor. Green played Hart extremely close, with chances to tie the game multiple times, but credit to Hart, they responded and made plays when needed to stop drives and cause turnovers. The Taylor game is the worst game I’ve seen the dragons play since coach Phelps arrived, that’s easily the worst they could have played. With that said, credit Taylor, they came to play and smashed the Dragons in every aspect. I’m not ignorant to the fact the Dragons have a big up hill battle, but they aren’t a terrible team, and with some luck and a few bounces going there way, could keep this game semi competitive. Either way, I wish both teams luck and hope both stay healthy.

NCC needs to pound the football right at Campbellsville. If they have a weakness, it’s having a smaller defensive and offensive line. That’s because athletically, not many teams are going to out athlete Campbellsville, but since they are smaller up front, a big strong offensive line can lay on them for 3-5 yards a carry, especially once you have worn them down some. Now all that sounds easy enough, but this Campbellsville linebacking core and secondary are fast, and get to the football in a hurry, and bring the wood when they hit you. I expect Campbellsville to win this game, but think NCC has a shot if they play keep away and control the football. Give me Campbellsville 35-21.

The penalty flag hits the young man in the center of his face-mask and lodges into his Helmet, he’s attempting to make a tackle on the edge of the sideline, both players running wide open with all there momentum which leads them into the Metcalfe bench area, neither player goes down at this point. The Metcalfe player and the Dragon player both smash into the water machine on the sideline, the Dragon player walks away and is pushed and shoved multiple times by Metcalfe County players and no flag is thrown, he also doesn’t retaliate to anything done on the sideline and walks away, If they wanted to call a late hit so be it, but nothing about the play warranted an ejection, to include the fact the young man was just smacked in the face with a flag that’s lodged into his face mask and obscured his view. The play is easy to find on the live film and it clearly shows everything I just mentioned above. I’m not a fan who harps on officials, but this was clearly the wrong call in every way possible.

The Dragons make the trip to Owensboro Catholic this Friday night, in what could be a long night for the Dragons. The Dragons hope to contain the high flying passing attack of Catholic and control the line of scrimmage and work the clock and control the football, but that’s an easier said than done task. The Dragons face an uphill battle in this one, but hope to catch lightning in a bottle and shock the state, in what would be a huge upset. What’s your thoughts on this one?

They haven’t. Last year they won their first ever playoff game and this year they won the first ever district title and will be playing in the regional final for the first time ever. I hope they are able to pull it off against Union, but that’s gonna be a tough game as well.

Campbellsville just keeps on pummeling people. Holy Cross isn’t a bad team and Campbellsville dominated them from the start. Campbellsville now gets a battle tested NCC next week at home, in what I expect to be a solid ball game.

The Dragons defeat Metcalfe County to move into the third round. The Dragons didn’t play great, and Lost the heart of the team in Julian Seymour in the first quarter on a terrible flag, where the officials threw the young man out of the game, which I leave alone for now, but battled back and took the win anyways. The Dragons will travel to Owensboro Catholic next week, in what looks to be a tough tough matchup. Hopefully Julian is able to play next week after a review of the penalty, which obviously was a missed call and a bad one at that. He is the secondary leader and the leading rusher on the year for the dragons, and they will need him if they want to have any chance of pulling the upset next week.

Metcalfe kicked a 28 yard field goal with 3 seconds to go to tie the game and force overtime. Metcalfe scores on the opening sequence of plays in overtime off a tipped pass, and picked off a pass from Washington County on second down to secure the win.

Glasgow has outscored McLean County 24-0 this third quarter. Talk about dominating a quarter of football.

The Dragons dominated this one from the start. Give credit to Fort Knox, those kids play hard and give everything they have. They played hard until the final whistle. The Dragons welcome Metcalfe County to town next week in round two after they upset Washington County tonight. Should be a great night in Greensburg.

Hart County is very good. They aren’t CAL, Central, or Lex Cath good, but they are as good as anyone else in 3a. If they are able to make it past Glasgow/McLean County in round 2, they will be the number two seed in the region, and will end up more than likely with Franklin Simpson or Union County in the third round. They could win that game, and after that it depends on the CAL and Central winner of what seed they end up with. Unfortunately I don’t think they get away from Lex Cath or Central in the Semi Finals any way the games fall and I would say their season ends in the semi finals, which would be the best season in school history by far.

Let’s just say it like it is, this is three weeks straight the Dragons have been non-existent and just walking through the motions. The Dragons just haven’t been good at all. This week, the Dragons just ran into a team who had the athletes to run with them.

I’ve seen both of these teams in person, I’d like to go watch this one, because this is going to be a battle. Campbellsville is so fast at getting to the football, it’s hard to get much going against them offensively, and they have athletes across the entire field to make up for mistakes. Offensively they play solid football, and can do almost anything offensively, so they are hard to defend. Hart County is much faster than one would think, and they have a big and strong offensive line. They will pound the football at Campbellsville, and I’m not sure who gives first in this matchup. Give me Campbellsville in a nail bitter, 21-20.

The Dragons welcome Taylor County to town on senior night. This has been a very good and entertaining game the last two years and I expect more of the same this go around. With that said, the Dragons have played the worst two games of the year in consecutive weeks, if that continues, Taylor may win this one going away. Taylor County is going to come in and run the football, and they run it well. They are led by all around player Payton Smith, who is a threat to score any time he touches the ball, he’s averaging over 10 yards a carry. The offensive line is anchored by UK commit Hayes Johnson and they get after you. The Dragons are much more balanced, but running the football is still the engine that makes them go. I expect the Dragons to mix up the pass and run against Taylor, and try and utilize the ability to spread Taylor County out and move the ball quickly. The last two weeks have left me somewhat less excited about the chances the Dragons have winning this game, but even more so about a deep playoff run. Hopefully the Dragons right the ship and get it headed in the right direction this Friday. Unfortunately I’m not sure the Dragons pull this one out. What’s your thoughts on this one?

For good reason, War memorial isn’t an easy place to play in November, the Dragons have first hand knowledge of that from just two years ago when Mayfield smacked us all around the field. I’m not blind to the fact the Mayfield and OC are more than likely 3-4 touchdown favorites against my Dragons. I also know we have a big up hill battle with either, and that’s even assuming we make it to round three, the way we have played the last two weeks, I’m not certain of that happening, the last two weeks haven’t been our best football to say the least.

I mean no disrespect toward Mayfield, but I’d rather play them than Catholic. That doesn’t mean Mayfield isn’t just as good Catholic, I just feel the Dragons match up better with Mayfield than Catholic. With that said, the Dragons will have a rough go with either of those teams, and would be major underdogs to both. Not an easy matchup for the Dragons any way they go in round three.

Green and Metcalfe have a long long history of volatility. That goes back years. Unfortunately something happened either right before or during the game that the Dragon coaching staff took exception to and apparently some words exchanged during the hand shake line between coaches. I’ve never seen Coach do this in any other game, so I have no clue what happened exactly, but he obviously took issue with whatever it was. Very much out of character for him.

The Dragons get an ugly win in a district battle that was closer than the final score. The Dragons wrap up a district title and will be the first seed for the playoffs. I’ll just say this, congrats to Metcalfe County, they made the Dragons earn it in every way and played well, the Dragons on the other hand, played about as bad as I’ve seen them play in 2 years. I can’t tell you how many penalties, 3 onside kicks recovered by Metcalfe, bad throws, missed blocks, backs running the wrong direction, just ugly football As they say, a win is a win and onto the next one. The Dragons await Taylor at home next week.

This game wasn't as close as the final score. It was like Campbellsville coasted the entire fourth quarter and let off the gas. Weird fourth quarter for them. Leading 21-3 with the ball and like they just wanted the game to be over. KCD on the other hand never stopped playing and made a game of it, but just didn’t have the horses to get this one to ever feel like it was in doubt until the last few minutes. Congrats to Campbellsville on a district title and great overall season to this point. The game with Hart County next week is gonna be a monster game.
