This is the first year ever in my recollection. The numbers for basketball were so low, they opened it up to the feeder schools and they got 3 8th graders to play. Amelia Stallard (had 20 points in final) Addie Mauller - both from St Agnes and Caitlin Ross from St Pius

Why is there never a regular season game between Highlands and NDA? Is there bad blood there?

Fun to watch? Depends on who you’re rooting for I guess. Hats off to those shooters. They made it look easy. Maybe if they shoot like that in their district game they can shock the state and knock out the favorite! I would love to see it! Good luck in round 1!

If I can wait till after the region to vote that would be great. All points above are great but coaching is what it is…. Which IMO is to take a group of kids and make them better. In that sense everyone knew Cooper would run the region but who makes the most impact in the tourney? Highlands and NDA are my finalists. They are the youngest and most coachable group.

Overheard the ref tell coaching staff that she was T’d up because “she was jumping up and down and looking at him?” Wow. Pandas struggled against the pressure and need to find another way to score without Noelle. Hubert face guarded entire game. Defender probably followed her to the bathroom after the game. NDA in a tight one. This one might boil down to who gets in foul trouble. If Noelle can get her looks I am picking NDA. If not, someone else will have to step up from the perimeter because Hunt will have the paint closed for business. Hope to make it to this one.

Not many teams will match up to Cooper this year. I have not seen BG this year so it will be fun to see this one.

This was a much needed and big win for their program. North Laurel is a very respectable opponent. I heard Hubert dropped in 19 and Kendra Collins added 17 while playing great defense against NL center. Unofficially heard their center and leading scorer was held to 12. She’s a good player.

Sara Baker played amazing. Best I’ve ever seen her play. Cooper just had too many weapons.

This was a good game. Game was tied with 19 sec to go. Purnell (8th grader mentioned above) hits a 3 at the buzzer to win a game that had many lead changes. Gutsy kid! Congrats to Noelle Hubert who earns the record for all time 3-pointers in her career at NDA. What a shooter! NDA has tough road ahead. Hopefully they can rebound off an emotional loss.

NDA and Dixie play each other at Dixie on Wednesday. That will decide that spot. It will be the first time they have played each other since Dixie beat them twice in 2021. One of those was for the region title. I suspect they will be looking to avenge that loss. I do think New Cath should be higher than Highlands. Looks good!

Yes. GRC is at another level than this young team. But it will be fun to see NDA against one of the top teams in the state. The Byers sisters are amazing. Hopefully it’s not a running clock.

NDA knocks off a talented Southwestern team in the WGM Holiday Classic. They will now get a shot at the winner of GRC and Mercy for the championship. Coach Murphy has his young team believing they can win. Hubert leads all scorers with 24 with Kendra Collins contributing with 11. NDA bench gets involved with Rylie Robertson and Rosemary Miller putting in another 14 combined. Southwestern’s Payton Acey puts up 20.
