The Tigers have become a force in the 9th Region with many quality wins, beating Covcath 2 of 3 last year and runner up in Regional tournament. They have been up and down so far this year. The Raiders are starting to come together this year under new Coach Belcher. They have won 3 of 4 now and seemed poised to compete. Are they ready for Prime Time? Who wins tomorrow night (1/3) 7:30 at Ryle?

Agree..but they did beat Brossart who is rolling now. They also beat Holy Cross by 30 who is also playing well as well as Madison Central. Their schedule gets a lot tougher with the last 3 games really tough. They have Lloyd at home, then at St. Henry and Beechwood. If they go 3-0 in those 3 watchout Distict and Region!

Very impressed with the Bluebirds this year. Vinson is a D1 talent who can get to the rim and cause foul issues..and can hit from deep. He has a lot of shooters around him. They are unselfish and play good D. No doubt number 2 in the 9th and could see them giving the Colonels problems.

Colonels are really good. 17-0 down yesterday and won against a really good team. Tonight played a really bad first half and pull away against another really good team. Their defense keeps them in every game until their shots start dropping...watchout Bluegrass!

Would not be surprised if Covcath wins tonight and runs the tables in January..they are really loaded and getting better. Next legitimate test will be Male at Male on Feb. 15. I do like Highlands this year but think they will be way overmatched inside against the Colonels..actually wish CCH played some 8th region teams that might compete better.

Two in row for the Raiders after a tough double overtime loss to Conner..South Oldham tomorrow night will be a big test.

Who wasn't local other than Nick in 2014 and Aiden in 2018? I agree probably no titles without them...certainly not without Nick...but it's much different this year with at least 5 new kids..all great players..coming in...I was just looking for a take on how this is working out..IMO it's not great for the local kids who were expecting to compete for the Colonels..could be I am wrong..the kids love sitting the bench or watching a great team from the stands.

I have not heard this issue mentioned but believe it is worthy of discussion and may be the elephant in the room for Covcath. Certainly the Colonels have decided to change their direction from statewide to nationwide. I say this with all credit to coach Ruthsatz and his staff..mostly the players for the past 6 years or so. As a Covcath graduate the 2 state championships were Sweet with a capital S! They won with local kids (with the exception of the coach's kids, who were awesome!!) This year is very different. The new players seem to embody a philosophy well beyond our region or state and reflect Coach's desire to follow in his St. Anthony roots of a National Power. (New Jersey. Think Coach Hurley, Bobby Hurley, HBO special, and Michael Kidd Gilchrist) There are only so many minutes in a basketball game which means the local kids are getting passed over. These are kids (and parents) that put in 10 or 12 years of work dreaming, believing of playing for the Colonels. I do credit the local kids (Diskin, Green, Moser) for surviving but they are all really special players and is their era over after this year? Will we ever have more than 1 or 2 kids from our local grade schools play for the Colonels? Why, given the recent success with the local kids? Should the kids who are local good players find a new place to play? Wondering what our local basketball community's take is on this.

Ryle needs to get over the hump..this one they were down 2 with 1:43 left. Rabe for Cooper falls down and walks. Ref calls phantom foul on Ryle then T's Coach Belcher up from 40 feet away...for not much of a protest. Rabe hits 4 foul shots to go up 6..then 8 as Ryle has to foul. Turning around a program does not come easy!! Third Ryle loss when 4 point game or less in 4th quarter.
