  1. That is the reason why I am not for top 2 seeds getting in playoffs. I think either dropping to 5 classes or do top 3 seeds and 1 seed gets a bye. I also don't understand why 6A gets to rotate districts for playoffs and the rest of the state doesn't. District 1 and 2 for 5A this season could honestly make up half of the top 10 cause I believe Graves is a fringe top 10 team if not a top 10 team in 5A this year.
  2. Why is Greenwood over Graves an upset? Just because of seeding? Greenwood has been ranked in the top 10 all year and Graves hasn't? I would say an unranked Graves over a ranked Greenwood is the upset.
  3. Talk about a heck of a 1st round matchup here. I’m a firm believer in defense wins in the playoffs when it gets cold and the weather gets unpredictable. Both of these teams are physical, hard nosed, and well coached. I believe defense wins in the playoffs when it gets cold and the weather is unpredictable. I’ll take the Eagles but this will be a battle and the game will be decided by a turnover or a big play by either team.
  4. This game means a lot for Graves with the RPI and the three way tie for district seeding. I think Graves comes out at home with a purpose and takes care of business. Graves always plays a little different when they are at home. I will say Eagles by 3-4 TDs with McCracken having trouble finding the end zone unless its on some big offensive plays downfield our a Graves turnover.
  5. So does that devalue Graves big win over Madisonville on the road where the defense really only gave up 7 points?
  6. Graves defense has been pretty good all year especially after the Owensboro game. That side of the ball has came together and is playing really good football. Even in the Owensboro game they had a ton of 3rd and long situations but missed tackles and couldn’t get off the field. This final week or games will be huge for seeding due to RPI.
  7. Madisonville has some nice pieces and this game is at home on grass something Owensboro doesn't seem to like to play on. I will take Owensboro by 2-3 TDS but if they don't come out ready to go Madisonville can make this interesting. Madisonville is very unpredictable on which team shows up.
  8. They also have a starting WR/DB who broke his collar bone in a scrimmage and his 1st game back last week rolled his ankle on a big catch. Last night was his first full game on offense back and he had one of the TD catches.
  9. Graves was down 2 starting dline players last night and have had a starter out for the season since week 1 on the dline. They lost their starting center week 2 and have been using the next man up mentality all year. Pretty good job by the staff with the injuries they have had in the trenches to be doing what they are doing. Looks like they held Apollo to negative rushing yards and barley over 150 yards of offense. The only Apollo TD was off a scoop and score.
  10. There is no excuse for what this kid did. There is no way he should be allowed on the team for the remainder of the season. If you are saying that it is an understandable reaction you are part of the problem in society.
  11. I would say that the group of skill players at Mayfield are as good as they have had in a long time. The issue is on the offensive line which is where they lost some really good players from last years group. If they can get that group developed they will be in the hunt come November.
  12. I agree but there were several possessions in the game where the after the 1st 2 drives the PT offense was stopped by Graves. Who is to say Graves doesn't continue to come up with stops? At eh end of the day we can come up with what if scenarios but the PT offense was supposed to score on Graves every time they touched the ball and it simply didn't happen is all I'm saying.
  13. I gotta take Mayfield in this one. They have the speed to match up with PT and if they can improve the Oline they have a good chance to make it 18 in a row. Coaching in these games goes a long way and I believe Mayfield has that advantage by a long shot. PT is a very undisciplined football team with the amount of penalties and personal fouls they receive in every game. Mayfield simply won't make the mistakes like that. The PT offense only scored 3 times against Graves and one of those was at the very end of the game when Graves defense was pretty much giving up. 21 points came off special teams and defense and I don't see Mayfield spotting them that many. my score prediction is 21-14 Mayfield.
  14. Next realignment it won't matter since South Warren should be in 6A right now.
  15. Graves had a down year last season for their standard but that standard is now a 6-4 regular season losing to a 6A state champion, 2A runner up, 5A Semi Final appearance, and a 3A regional champion appearance. They have a winning record over the last 10-15 years against PT and McCracken so they have kinda put themselves in the conversation of being one of the better programs in the West if you were to ask me. I think if you were to ask a lot of people who know football they would tell you that Graves is not a team to be taken lightly and they do more with less talent than a majority of programs in the state.
  16. He compared the 5A West to the SEC West which is a pretty good comparison.
  17. It is not from somebody from the state.
  18. What are the other facilities like besides the football field?
  19. Any word or rumors about this job? Have interviews started and is there a front runner?
  20. This is a good job and an amazing school system academically. With RPI and playing sister districts as long as you can get 2nd and are better than the district you are matched up with it doesn't really matter. Two teams from the same district played for the title in 6A with Bullitt East and Male this season. If Murray wants consistency they need to look for somebody who wants to stay in West KY and live in the community.
  21. Spring practice starts in a couple weeks with no head coach I would say this is on the later side of the hiring cycle.
  22. Job still is not posted to the district website. With this opening up so late is there potential for an internal hire? I know Caldwell is in a very tough district but this is still a good job in Western Ky.
  23. I agree completely. If its not a committable offer then don't say anything. The thought process used to be if I tweet about it then other schools will notice me and might offer as well. That was the case years ago when schools weren't offering 500 kids a year lol.
  24. Exactly! No offense to some of the players but there are kids getting "offers" from schools that they are not on that level of talent but the schools use it as leverage to try and get the kid they really want to commit and sign during the early signing period. Its a dirty game but careers and lots of $$$ are on the line for these coaches so they are willing to do whatever they have to to win or get promoted. If the kid you really don't want commits they just say well its not a scholarship but a preferred walk on or just a walk on spot. A head coach used to be able to be honest with players and parents about this stuff but if you tell somebody the truth these days they transfer lol.
  25. Everybody from parents, players, and coaches need to understand this. Most of these so called offers that players are tweeting about are not committable offers until you receive an official offer from the school. A majority of the time the verbal offer from the coaches means you can come here and there is a spot but it may be a walk on spot. Teams are going to use the transfer portal to fill the scholarship spots they have. If they miss then and have a scholarship available they may offer it to the high school recruit. If they land the transfer that offer now becomes a walk on spot.
