  1. Does the school count for student enrollment for Douglass for classification purposes?
  2. So its a school inside another school and the students are allowed to participate in athletics? I know several school districts that have alternative education programs which are for students who are behind on credits or have circumstances in their lives that a normal school schedule doesn't work for in their district but those students are not allowed to participate in sports when they enroll at those schools.
  3. I couldnt agree more with the statement of "Coach what you know".
  4. This thread isn't about Graves potentially dropping but about Coach Smith at McCracken. I am curious to see what offense he decides to run. McCracken in the past has been a spread team and under Coach Clark used a lot of spread/TE formations to run the ball successfully and then hit you over the top with some of the good WR they have had over the years. I know when he was at PT they were a wishbone team and were very successful doing it. When they tried to switch to more of a spread offense they struggled and he was out of a job the next season.
  5. Since General Tire closed Graves has lost students/families living in Graves. Last I heard they were losing almost 100 students per year in the entire district. Several students that live in the county have chosen to attended Mayfield after attending Graves Middle School and several families that live on the county lines have taken kids to other schools over the years. The tornado has not helped the population what so ever and it is only going to get worse. Last number I heard of students in the high school was from a very reliable source and it is around 1,080 students.
  6. ADA has been frozen so most districts numbers that are being reported are from 2019. I can tell you for a fact that Graves numbers are closer to 1,000 students than what you are saying at 1179 and they are losing more students consistently.
  7. I can tell you with 100% accuracy that it is no where close to 1300 students.
  8. Graves County barely has 1,000 student's in the high school and is losing more by the day. If they are going anywhere it will be to 4A.
  9. I wouldn't call it that but yes that's what it is lol. He has to stay retired for 90 days because that's what the teacher retirement system says he has to do in order to draw his full pension and then return to the school system as a coach, classified employee, or as a certified part-time employee. I know plenty of teachers who retired for 90 days and then came back in some capacity at the school and were able to double dip. I think its a pretty silly rule if you ask me.
  10. If this is true which it seems like you have credible sources then most coaches who are smart will not touch this job. They might as well go ahead and give the job to Mr. Huff which is seems like the plan was the entire time. Shame on the schools Admin for allowing a parent to cost a coach who seemed to me a good person and coach to lose his job. This is the reason why good coaches get out of coaching and the real losers are the players. No wonder BE is exploding with students. Who would want their kids to be a part of a toxic situation like this.
  11. Atchley can flat coach and has proven to be able to build and turn programs around. I don't know about all the classroom issues that he has had in the past but his work on the field is impressive. I believe people deserve second chances and deserve the right to admit mistakes and change their ways. If he can do that then I'm not sure how long he stays at Frankfort but if you can keep him for a few years and let him get things going you will be in a better place than you were before he started for the next coach.
  12. Names don't have to be dropped all the time. Coaches don't want their names being thrown around all the time as trying to leave their jobs unless they like the attention. This is probably the reason why Frankfort is struggling to hire somebody because the guys who interviewed don't want to be the 3rd or 4th choice by a committee. If they are smart they turn the job down because half the people who hired you probably didn't like you or didn't want you.
  13. There are young coaches that have applied and interviewed for this job that resumes that blow some of the people being mentioned for this job out of the water. Leadership is important but you have to be able to coach and TEACH the game to kids. I could care less if a guy played at the next level or the NFL. It does not mean that you can teach and coach the game of football to 14-18 year old kids. The programs who just do basic things and win at a high level have the players to do that. Knowing how to adjust your scheme to fit what players you have and make adjustments weekly and in game is how you win. I'm not buying that a guy who was under Eddie James for a year and a half and walked out mid season because of a disagreement then spent one year under McKee as a freshman coach is ready to be a head coach of a varsity football team.
  14. I wouldn't compare to many people with a guy like Mcvay who many people knew was one of the brightest offensive minds in football who comes from a coaching tree that has a lot of current NFL head coaches that are all successful right now. I agree that fit is important but at some point so is coaching. Talking in a interview and drawing cool plays on a whiteboard is awesome but it is much different on a Friday Night on the sidelines. A head coach with little to no play calling experience is going to struggle to manage a game unless they are able to bring in an OC and DC.
  15. How can he have a good resume if he played at K-State, didn't finish the year at Franklin County, and spent 1 season as a freshman coach at Scott County? I have heard of some other names that applied and interviewed that have resumes that blow this out of the water if his only varsity season was a leaving halfway through the year. Heck there were more qualified candidates than the person they supposedly offered the job to who ended up at Shelby County and some of the fan base there doesn't seem happy with that hire.
  16. Never said he was that why I referred to him as a unicorn lol. I believe they call him because why wouldn't you but unless an unreal amount of money was put on the table I think there is no way Coach Morris entertains this job unless it like it was last time where he used it to leverage Mayfield to give him more money lol.
  17. That is an onion that has a lot of layers to it lol.
  18. This is where a job starts to fall to the next person on the list until somebody says yes. A lot of guys who aren't desperate to be a head coach or desperate to get out of a bad situation aren't going to be willing to take this unless demands get met. Sort of puts Frankfort in a tough spot cause now they are the ones who might be in desperation mode with getting somebody hired. There are only 10 or 11 jobs posted that haven't made hires yet and some of those just came open and many people could view some of those as more attractive jobs than Frankfort as far as pay and resources go.
  19. What year was he the OC at Western High School and were they any good that year?
  20. This is the reason why you want to keep things as quite as possible. The fact that people are saying it has been offered and if that coach turns it down and they have to offer it to another candidate then they may not take it either because they weren't the first choice by the committee. Starts to be a trickle down effect. If I interviewed and taking the job required moving my family I wouldn't wanna find out I am the 3rd or 4th choice. Generally that means you are the guy they really didn't want so before you have even called a play the people who hired you don't believe in you.
  21. Is hiring from within not a Western KY guy? Only people on staff who you can say would be considered would be Smith or
  22. Who does McCracken try to target for this job? There are some local coaches in the area with head coaching experience and that have been successful. A few names that come to mind are Johnathan Smith, Lance Gregory, and Mike Rogers. Or do they try to land their unicorn in Joe Morris? A few years ago some people will say Coach Morris was close to taking this job before Clark was hired. Lets get the pot stirred up on this one. I believe this is an important hire for McCracken with Henderson getting stabilized under Coach Boston, Coach Edge at Apollo is turning that program around, Daviess County should regress with losing the QB but are looking like a program that is building towards consistency, and now the consolidation of Hoptown and Christian could make McCracken be the 3rd or 4th best team in the district if the right hire isn't made.
  23. Bullet Central is open as well. Could he be making the decision to take that job and not have to sell his home and move to Lexington?
