  1. Graves defense has been pretty good all year especially after the Owensboro game. That side of the ball has came together and is playing really good football. Even in the Owensboro game they had a ton of 3rd and long situations but missed tackles and couldn’t get off the field. This final week or games will be huge for seeding due to RPI.
  2. Madisonville has some nice pieces and this game is at home on grass something Owensboro doesn't seem to like to play on. I will take Owensboro by 2-3 TDS but if they don't come out ready to go Madisonville can make this interesting. Madisonville is very unpredictable on which team shows up.
  3. They also have a starting WR/DB who broke his collar bone in a scrimmage and his 1st game back last week rolled his ankle on a big catch. Last night was his first full game on offense back and he had one of the TD catches.
  4. Graves was down 2 starting dline players last night and have had a starter out for the season since week 1 on the dline. They lost their starting center week 2 and have been using the next man up mentality all year. Pretty good job by the staff with the injuries they have had in the trenches to be doing what they are doing. Looks like they held Apollo to negative rushing yards and barley over 150 yards of offense. The only Apollo TD was off a scoop and score.
  5. There is no excuse for what this kid did. There is no way he should be allowed on the team for the remainder of the season. If you are saying that it is an understandable reaction you are part of the problem in society.
  6. I would say that the group of skill players at Mayfield are as good as they have had in a long time. The issue is on the offensive line which is where they lost some really good players from last years group. If they can get that group developed they will be in the hunt come November.
  7. I agree but there were several possessions in the game where the after the 1st 2 drives the PT offense was stopped by Graves. Who is to say Graves doesn't continue to come up with stops? At eh end of the day we can come up with what if scenarios but the PT offense was supposed to score on Graves every time they touched the ball and it simply didn't happen is all I'm saying.
  8. I gotta take Mayfield in this one. They have the speed to match up with PT and if they can improve the Oline they have a good chance to make it 18 in a row. Coaching in these games goes a long way and I believe Mayfield has that advantage by a long shot. PT is a very undisciplined football team with the amount of penalties and personal fouls they receive in every game. Mayfield simply won't make the mistakes like that. The PT offense only scored 3 times against Graves and one of those was at the very end of the game when Graves defense was pretty much giving up. 21 points came off special teams and defense and I don't see Mayfield spotting them that many. my score prediction is 21-14 Mayfield.
  9. Next realignment it won't matter since South Warren should be in 6A right now.
  10. Graves had a down year last season for their standard but that standard is now a 6-4 regular season losing to a 6A state champion, 2A runner up, 5A Semi Final appearance, and a 3A regional champion appearance. They have a winning record over the last 10-15 years against PT and McCracken so they have kinda put themselves in the conversation of being one of the better programs in the West if you were to ask me. I think if you were to ask a lot of people who know football they would tell you that Graves is not a team to be taken lightly and they do more with less talent than a majority of programs in the state.
  11. He compared the 5A West to the SEC West which is a pretty good comparison.
  12. It is not from somebody from the state.
  13. What are the other facilities like besides the football field?
  14. Any word or rumors about this job? Have interviews started and is there a front runner?
  15. This is a good job and an amazing school system academically. With RPI and playing sister districts as long as you can get 2nd and are better than the district you are matched up with it doesn't really matter. Two teams from the same district played for the title in 6A with Bullitt East and Male this season. If Murray wants consistency they need to look for somebody who wants to stay in West KY and live in the community.
  16. Spring practice starts in a couple weeks with no head coach I would say this is on the later side of the hiring cycle.
  17. Job still is not posted to the district website. With this opening up so late is there potential for an internal hire? I know Caldwell is in a very tough district but this is still a good job in Western Ky.
  18. I agree completely. If its not a committable offer then don't say anything. The thought process used to be if I tweet about it then other schools will notice me and might offer as well. That was the case years ago when schools weren't offering 500 kids a year lol.
  19. Exactly! No offense to some of the players but there are kids getting "offers" from schools that they are not on that level of talent but the schools use it as leverage to try and get the kid they really want to commit and sign during the early signing period. Its a dirty game but careers and lots of $$$ are on the line for these coaches so they are willing to do whatever they have to to win or get promoted. If the kid you really don't want commits they just say well its not a scholarship but a preferred walk on or just a walk on spot. A head coach used to be able to be honest with players and parents about this stuff but if you tell somebody the truth these days they transfer lol.
  20. Everybody from parents, players, and coaches need to understand this. Most of these so called offers that players are tweeting about are not committable offers until you receive an official offer from the school. A majority of the time the verbal offer from the coaches means you can come here and there is a spot but it may be a walk on spot. Teams are going to use the transfer portal to fill the scholarship spots they have. If they miss then and have a scholarship available they may offer it to the high school recruit. If they land the transfer that offer now becomes a walk on spot.
  21. I know Owensboro has been really good these last several years but they are graduating almost every skill player on offense, a couple O-Lineman, and several key pieces on defense. They have been really good at the middle school level so you know the talent is there but its still young talent. Seems like #3 is a little bit high. I still think they win the district but I don't think they are a title contender this season.
  22. McCracken is going thru a rebuild. You don't rebuild a program by getting your head beat in every week. They need to schedule some wins and build some confidence until you get the program back on track. Even tho last year they some how got 5 kids on the Western KY team lol.
  23. This has been the quietest best open job thread I have seen this year. Any rumors flying around about who has applied for job or when interviews will start?
  24. "Undecided where I'm going to high school at" This is a middle school kid basically saying I'm open for recruitment.
  25. Mayfield will always be Mayfield and in the hunt for a title. They have built that program to the point of there is no rebuild just a reload. The incoming freshman class is supposed to be extremely talented. PT has more talent on the field than almost anybody they play but cannot seem to get the offensive play calling down and struggles with being disciplined. They continue to be an underachieving team to me each year. McCracken got better as the year went on and found some identity it seems. The QB transfer is a nice addition but most of that roster were seniors so they will have some growing up to do I believe on both sides of the ball. Graves loses a few key players but returns most of the roster. Graves is almost a 4A enrollment but is stuck playing in the 5A west which speaks for itself on the type of teams they have to play in Owensboro and district 2. They are a well coached team just have their years when a talented group comes thru to make some noise. Marshall and Calloway are trying to build the programs up to consistency and I believe the Head coaches there are doing a good job but struggle to get enough money from the school system to pay coaches a competitive stipend to truly build a program. Look at the 4 teams listed above and you will find they get much more financial support to go hire full coaching staffs. Ballard County with dropping to 1A could shock some people. If the school system would invest in the program and revamp the elementary/middle school programs then I honestly thing they can be 1st or 2nd in that district. Now the regular season record won't be great but they could win a playoff game or 2. Murray is a team that I don't really know what is going on. They haven't played a JV schedule since the new coach came in which is why the numbers are down. There is no development of players for the future which is sad. IF you are a 10th or 11th grade player and you are only seeing a hand full of plays on a Friday night with no JV action on Monday why would you stick with it?
