Although, much like Prep Hoops on the basketball side, PBR is also a $ grab when it comes to rankings, etc. If you've not been to one of their events, you no get the props. Take it for what it's worth. JMO

Covington Catholic has SR's Trevor Wilson P, Luke Lenhof OF/P, David Sullivan 1B/P. The underclassmen are led by Jonathan Fitz C/P (University of San Diego). Dixie Heights will be solid again this season and led by a large group of SR's headlined by Jay Flynn INF/P, Keirnen Geraci INF/P, and Logan Wilson INF/P. Ryle should contend and returns SR's Brayden Stewart INF/P and Josh Furtado INF/P, both KHBSCA Pre-Season All State Watch List players. JR's Roman Furuta INF/P, Landon Sawyer OF, and TJ Schira INF/P add to a talented lineup. Ryle plays a brutal schedule this season and that should benefit them come Region time. Beechwood should be the Pre-Season favorite since they only lost 1 SR position player and 1 PO. The Tigers return their entire team from last season's Region title squad. Top players include SR's Jackson Roseburrough 3B (IU Southeast), Tanner Jackson 1B (KY Wesleyan Football), Brett Holladay OF/P, and JR's Mitchell Berger OF/P (EKU Offer), Cameron Boyd ATH, Brice Estep C, (EKU Offer). KHBSCA Pre-Season All State Watch List has Berger and Estep listed. PBR Kentucky has Covington Catholic ranked 9th and Beechwood ranked 21st in the Pre-Season.

Bracken is one of the worst disciplined teams out there. The players run their mouth and complain to the refs the entire game. Coach has no control. Unfortunately that’s their M.O. Two players especially. JMO

Great Topic. I've been wanting to respond to this all season. A couple of things that drive me nuts. Like B-Ball-fan said, some of the venues PA / sound systems are wayyyyyy too loud. I hear people complaining in the stands at a couple of the gyms about the volume of the music pre game and during TO's. That's an easy fix, although you'd think the operator would already be aware of how blaring loud it is? I don't expect PA guys / gals to be professional DJ's, but they could at least fade out the music after TO's instead of cutting the blaring music off directly. Most of the PA people have been doing this for some time, you'd think they would know the players names, or at least how to pronounce them?? It drives kids and parents crazy when PA's don't pronounce their players names correctly. Petty on these I know, but you asked. Bellevue was one of my favorite stops this year. Great PA and music. He did an outstanding job. Williamstown has a great PA guy. Very professional. Bishop Brossert was one of our least favorites. They had a substitute / fill-in PA guy during our game. He was making comments on the mic during the game, saying "defense - defense" during our possessions; it was like being at an And 1 event at some city park somewhere. Along those lines, I've noticed that a number of school's student section's are way down in attendance. Any thoughts on this? Also, many games we had no Pep Band. I thought basketball games were what Pep Bands lived for. Thoughts?

Any idea on the outfield dimensions?

From what I heard and saw, no one listened to what the Priest had to say about sportsmanship, etc. in the pre-game prayer. ?

Beechwood Varsity loses Seniors Ty Eviston 6'3" SF 12/4, Carl Gabbard 6' SG 6/2, and PG Carson Way 5'10" 2/2. Look for JV players moving up next season to contribute: 23' Seniors - Andrew Goodwin 5'10" PG, good ball handler, very solid on ball defender, and capable perimeter shooter. - Nazario Pangallo 5'9" PG, good ball handler, defender, and intelligent floor general. - Mikey Murphy, 6'3" SF, point forward, above average passer, intelligent player and can rebound. '24 Juniors - Rhett Dawson, 6' ATH, can dribble, drive, defend, and rebound. Still raw but quickly improving. - Quinn Eviston, 5'10" PG ball handler and defender, played a big role on JV this season. '25 Soph - Jack Sullivan, 6'2" SG, perimeter shooter, improving defender. Returning Varsity players include '23 SR Trevor Logue and Cameron Boyd, '25 Soph 6'5" C Mattox Kelly, and '26 Frosh 5'10" PG Cash Harney. And who knows, maybe there will be an influx of highly skilled transfer players from around the Tri-State region????

Couple of takes from the game tonight. In a tough season for the Tigers, it was awesome to see the effort exhibited by the entire team on the defensive end throughout the game. Beechwood is undersized in almost every game they've played this season and against a quality squad with a nice big, they held him under his average of 17/11 to 14/10. For the game, the Tigers allowed the Camels only 7 Offensive Rebounds and finished -1 for the game at CCH 32 Rebounds and BHS 31 Rebounds. The difference in the game was the Camels shot 10/23 from 3 and the Tigers were 3/20 at 15%. Otherwise, a very evenly matched and competitive game. I thought the officiating was very good. The officials let the teams play physical and swallowed the whistle, which was refreshing to see a game that had only 19 fouls called, some of those in the last few seconds. Officials were very good both ways in this one. Hats off to both the officials and CCH coaches on the Tiger's Senior night. SR PG Brady Moore, who lost the entire basketball season to a knee injury/surgery sustained on the football field, was allowed to be subbed into the game on a shooting foul called on Cameron Boyd. Boyd went out, possibly with an injury (wink wink), and Moore subbed in to shoot the two foul shots. After making the first and missing the second, an immediate foul against the Tigers was called and Moore was subbed back out. I'm not sure the Camels or Officials fully knew what was happening, but it played out without any controversy, and it was a memorable moment for a SR and his family on a special night. Kudos to the officials and Camels coaches, it meant a lot, especially in a game that was tight until the final buzzer. Great Senior night game for the Tigers to end an otherwise tough season. Beechwood didn't handle the ball very well in the half court, leading to 17 TO for the game. Although, SH had 17 TO as well, SH had 29 points off turnovers to Beechwood's 9. Big difference in the game. Tigers shot 37% from the field and 36% from the 3. Tigers had a strong board game at 29 against the Cru's 33, very respectable against a much larger SH squad. 48 total points won't beat too many teams in the 9th Region no matter how you play. Cru's Setters with 21/12 and C. Fedders with 19/6. Tigers Eviston 11/12 and Boyd 18/7 with 3 steals.

NCC hits a late 3 In transition to tie it after a missed front end of a 1-1 by Beechwood. Beechwood Inbounds and holds for a last second shot as time winds down in regulation, the shot is missed. NCC’s Joel Iles rebounds, and puts up a contested shot from the mid court circle as the buzzer goes off, and hits it. 67-64 Final

I’m sure it’s happened to many teams this season, but the sickness bug and injuries have really hampered this team this season. The Tigers just can’t seem to get everyone healthy & well at the same time. Two more out again tonight vs Boone with a serious bug, one was a regular starter. Hopeful this team can get together soon. May even get lucky and get a SR back from surgery before too long?

What are the requirements for All A and 2A participation?

Beechwood was plagued by some pretty serious sickness with a player or two. Not making an excuse, even the healthy players didn’t play much defense or rebound the ball and team FG % was awful.

Put me down for Bologna. I agree, it’s obvious Ipsaro got hosed. Hype goes a long way in basketball unfortunately. When you look at the product on the court, it speaks for its self.

Govan has very good foot work and soft hands for a big fella. He is a load around the basket and is a solid rebounder. Great game by the big man tonight. He was impressive.

Dunk after the officials take the court could possibly be one of the dumbest rules in KY HS basketball, IMO.
