  1. Yes the kid with "Special" Circumstances was a senior. I was curious why the Campbell kid took the ball. A timeout was clearly called to let Campbell know about the special nature of that play. Was a very mouthy chippy post game as the teams were exiting the field from what I could tell from the stands. That could have gotten out of hand quick. Good job by both staffs to keep the teams separated. There had to have been a miscommunication, I don't think the Campbell kid would have done that purposely.
  2. I agree. If Ryle takes this SK game, and anyone above them (but on the bottom) of the list takes a loss, Ryle should be 9 or 10. Three losses be damned, they have improved every week and played a good schedule.
  3. I'm a Dixie parent, I watch them every week. They have some injury issues. I'm not saying they aren't without fault on the D-Line. They got beat up front hands down, a few people on here agree with that on both sides of the ball. Ryle scored 44 points at the end of the day so yeah, there is plenty of blame to go around. So Ryle had some decent runs, complimented by a few QB scrambles for chunk yardage, just like SK had last week against Dixie. But the Dixie D line, didn't fumble the ball twice, they didn't get their QB sacked, they didn't throw any interceptions, and they weren't on the field to recover the muffed punt. Sometimes the other team is just better that day. I have faith the coaches will get it fixed. Besides, there does not appear to a lot of depth they can rely on. Poor kids are just worn down at the end of a long game when the offense can't sustain drives. Just my two cents as a casual observer. Dixie will be fine they have a good ball team this year. I'm not ready to say one small part of that team is at fault for 44 points.
  4. Both teams have good lines on both sides. Ryle showed up ready to play, and won in the trenches for sure. I do disagree Dixie's weakness is NOT their defense. When you can't protect the QB and sustain drives, the defense stays on the field and gets worn down. Ryle getting turnover after turnover gave them short yardage all night. Ryle was able to use their passing game to sustain drives in the first half and with short fields. And in the second half, Ryle controlled the clock running the ball like they were supposed to do. Dixie through the first 5 games had given up an average (according to KHSAA) of only 120 yards per game total. So clearly their D-line is not a weakness. Today Ryle wanted it more and the scoreboard clearly shows that. Hats off to the Ryle football team, and their staff. Good win for them.
  5. I look at his numbers and think what they would be if he had a better line in front of him. And, he has done these number against a pretty tough schedule. The kid just makes plays and is worthy to be in this company.
  6. I think Dixie wins this. But I'm not 100% on that thought. It appears Ryle is getting better every week. They have a good defensive front. Dixie had a lot of injuries against SK last week. I have no idea how that effects their lineup, but it might. Dixies running game may not find it easy sledding. If Ryle can limit the mistakes against an opportunistic Dixie defense they keep this close and will potentially be in a position to win it. Gonna be either a close defensive slugfest that could go either way, or a Dixie blowout.
  7. In close games like this, teams that can control the tempo, turnovers, and time of possession should win. I think SK won the tempo battle. That hurry up offense was what kept SK in the game in the first half, and what got them back to a tie in the second half. Time of possession went to Dixie who seemed to run the ball just enough when they needed too. Turnover battle goes to Dixie as they sealed the deal with two key interceptions late. Really hope all the injuries for these teams are minor and nothing serious. Looked scary from the stands to see the trainers motion for the ambulance.
  8. You make some valid points. As for Coaching, BW has a slight edge no doubt. We agree Hergott is great. Beechwood has some weapons for him to throw to no doubt. But he will be facing a much better secondary and defense as a whole. To say those kids from Dixie you named are not experienced is a stretch, they all started last year and produced. I'd stack those weapons led by Hawkins who's now gained interest from (UC/Miami OH/Maryland) against most in NKY. Dixie also has a more experienced O-line anchored junior tackle Evan Wibberly. I just see it stacking up a bit different. The game will be within ten points and in my opinion, Dixie does just enough to eek it out.
  9. Beechwood does have arguably the best QB in NKY. Looks like Beechwood has issues keeping him protected though. They will face a much better defense this week. I'll take Dixie with a good QB and a really good defense in a low scoring game.
  10. Well stated. At the end of the day, good teams find a way to win, and through two games, CovCath has outlasted a really good defense in Dixie, and a really good Offense in Beechwood. They have overcome obstacles and faced some adversity. They may not be world beaters, but they still have enough horses in the stable to pull the wagon.
  11. Very tough loss. Dixie may be the best team without a win yet. A back and forth game for much of the night. Dixie forced a fumble early that they didn't recover which could have been huge deep in Corbin's own territory. Corbin interception in the second half kept them within striking distance as Dixie was driving. Dixie's defense didn't seem to stay very comfortable and benefited from Corbins QB over/under throws. That fourth quarter was exciting. The last touchdown play Dixie finally got pressure and Corbin QB stood there, took the hit as he delivered an absolute dime in stride. Not many players in the state that could catch that receiver. Corbin somehow got the Longmire kid open when they had too.
  12. I agree this will be a closely contested game. Sounds like Corbin is a scrappy bunch that doesn't just go away lightly. And if anyone has kept track of Dixie the last couple seasons, wether they are down by 3 or 30, they are bringing it for four quarters. Whichever team comes out 0-2 is still going to be just fine seeing as out of the gate they had some solid competition to prep them for the rest of the way. Dixie in my opinion has a better defense than Beechwoods. For that reason, they keep it close and win.
  13. Dixie left points on the field, should have won this game. What a great contest. CovCath is going to be fine, Dixie will only get better.
  14. If SK can protect Chase Crone and keep him upright, I'd lean towards the Pioneers walking away victorious. I'm not sure in todays age of COVID there will much of a home field advantage for the BlueBirds over in Fort Thomas. With the lack of defensive experience described above, could be a high scoring affair.
  15. I believe CovCath also has a froshmore home game on 9-12 vs Dixie
  16. Holmes looked like a young team that grew up quick as the season progressed. Looking forward to seeing this team navigate a tough schedule. If they stay healthy, could be a deep run into November this season. The Calloway twins may get the attention, but there is more than one weapon on that roster.
  17. Congrats Chase. Well deserved and I hope he continues to make NKY proud. Good kid.
  18. Cov Cath should be an interesting watch this season. I don't see them having the luxury of blowout after blowout against their NKY opponents this season. Going to be some very good games that should prepare this team for an eventual post season run. They will be battle tested.
  19. Great season by Holmes, they have a lot coming back.
  20. This is a huge win for the staff and that program. GO DAWGS!
  21. Anyone that watched the first game knew Dixie was the better team back then. This game was a defensive showdown from both teams. Dixies defense accounted for 2 blocked kicks (one for a TD), another safety, and two interceptions. That defense is pretty Good. Ryle didn’t seem to have many wrinkles to throw at them.
  22. What happened is Scott had a nice drive for their first score set up by a pass down the middle that went for at least 45yds. Dixie drove down to the goal line easily where they fumbled on the three yard line back to Scott. Scott then drove 93 yds for a score taking up most of the time in the second half. After that it was all Dixie who scored twice with three minutes to go in the half. Dixies defense was much better in the 3rd and 4th quarters, providing a fumble recovery, two interceptions (one pick 6), and their Offense just ran the ball too effectively. That Scott running back Perrin is an absolute stud.
  23. Could not be happier for Coach Nevels, his staff, and those kids. Way to go Bulldogs!
