  1. I forgot Highlands, Ryle, Cooper, and Conner aren't part of the NKY association. The only team up here that I know dominated everyone was Holmes and to say that team wouldn't compete anywhere other than in NKY is a stretch. I'm not knocking Other Middle School Programs anywhere I'm just saying, in general, I would love to have seen how a couple of teams from up here stacked up.
  2. Hoping they can turn things around under the new head coach. They haven't been down state in something like 5 years. Also haven't even made it out of their district in the last 3.
  3. I'm not aware of any Northern Kentucky 8th grade teams that play any farther south than Pendleton County. So I guess my answer is any of the teams up here. My point was there were some really good #1 and #2 8th grade seeds up here that could have represented well anywhere in the state, and I would love to have seen it.
  4. Wonder if there is any chance the middle school athletic associations would allow schools from other regions of the state play against each other. Would have loved to see how a few of the teams in Northern Kentucky stacked up to the teams mentioned in this forum. Moving forward I hope they talk about this. Logistically I know busses and costs may be an issue but I believe worth it.
  5. NewCath will be really tough to beat next year. Coach Morgan did a heck of a job with that group. They absolutely grew by leaps and bounds from their scrimmages this summer to this past Saturday. I'd like to take a contrary position about Holmes though. Holmes wasn't challenged at all during the season. The hardest part of their season was staying eligible and showing up to practice. The scores from the Twenhofel and Walton contests are not indicative of how dominant the Bulldogs were in those games. Touchdowns on 2nd/3rd stringers late in the fourth quarter make the scores look a lot closer than it really was. Turkeyfoot winning was stunning. Game of the night in my opinion. I know their wasn't a lot of scoring but the defensive stops and the back and forth was great drama. I was fortunate enough to witness a practice or two of Turkeyfoots this past week. Those boys got after it and it translated well on the field. Heart breaks for Twenhofel though, that's two years in a row they made it all the way there and lost. The fire those losses lit may prove fruitful for Simon Kentons Freshman team next year. Happy for all the players and coaches who got to play in these contests. Another great season!
  6. They (8th) have really good QB in #20 Chase Crone and some decent size on the line to block for him.
  7. Looks like the 8th grade Large, Medium, and Small division championship games will be played at Holmes High School. Twenhofel vs Turkeyfoot starts at 4:00PM NCC vs Ludlow starts at 6:00PM Holmes vs Sharp is at 8:00PM Congrats to all these teams on a very competitive season and best of luck and health Saturday.
  8. It’s hard to get a game at a High School this time of year. You’re competing against Varsity boys and girls regional soccer, district varsity football, and middle school football championships.
  9. I don’t know if it’s against the rules but I do know the winning interception for Turkeyfoots 8th grade team was by their 7th grade QB.
  10. Incorrect sir/ma’am. This particular game will be played at Holmes contrary to the posted schedule. Walton had a scheduling conflict and Newport, who I believe also had a scheduling conflict, declined as I understand it.
  11. 8th grade middle division Going to be #1 Holmes vs #3 Sharp at Holmes High school Saturday October 20th at 8:00PM. Sharp Middle School played a great game tonight against a tough Walton team to make it into the Championship Game. Final Score was 18-12. Holmes continues to roll and won the game prior 32-12 against Beechwood.
  12. District 33 final (at Boone County). Conner High School with a huge upset of Ryle High School in sudden death. Final Score 2-1.
  13. Medium 8th grade division seeding is as follows... #1 Holmes vs #4 Beechwood #2 Walton vs #3 Sharp Games are at Newport 10-13-18. I am unsure of the exact times.
  14. They have a big contest this Friday night, at home, against Holmes High.
  15. They have a good mix of size, athleticism, and coaching over there this year.
  16. Holmes 7th shut out Summit View. Holmes 8th 27-0 over Sharp.
  17. This isn't a jab at NCC but I was in attendance at the NCC scrimmage against Holmes (8th) this year and did not think they would be on top. I heard they were a very young team too so this is great for that organization going forward. Good job coaches.
  18. Preston Perkins, Javier Ward (Holmes) look pretty good too. I agree we should see a few more trophies in NKY over the next couple years.
  19. I would answer with you are absolutely right they don't. That team has also never had this type of drama in their locker rooms build from year to year like it has. History is on your side but I'm not going to be surprised at all if his name gets thrown around as a hot seat candidate.
  20. I think if they (Steelers) continue to lose more media types may start using Tomlin's name associated with the "hot seat". His message has got to be old in the locker room and in a "what have you done for me lately" league he isn't doing much lately.
  21. Yes I believe they have a 4 vs 5 seed game and that would be it. Twenhofel is the #1 team in the large division. Followed by Turkeyfoot and Summit View. Medium Division like I said still needs to sort a few things out but it looks like, right now, the seeding will be #1 Holmes, #2 Walton, #3 Sharp, and #4 Beechwood. Holmes has Sharp Wednesday (at Holmes) and that may have a say in the seeding should Sharp upset them. I haven't heard much about the small division this season. If anyone has insight or information I'd love to hear about how their seedings are playing out.
  22. Turkeyfoot got a #2 seed for 8th grade in the large division. And will play Summit View on Saturday Oct 13th (7:30 PM) at Dixie High School. Middle Division is wrapping up this week so we should should know seeds and opponents Thursday evening. If anyone has any info on who is doing what at the small division level please fill us in.
  23. Apologies guys about the extension. For future reference, I will make sure I get that right.
  24. At the 8th grade level so far here is what we now know... Walton has a stud running back/Strong Safety in #79 Cohen Velasquez Twenhofel has a great QB/Safety in #20 Chase Crone Holmes is LOADED but their best player is fullback/linebacker #50 Emauryon Arnold No surprises here that these three teams are also probably the top three in no particular order.
  25. This district is crazy right now. Holmes, for all it's youth and inexperience, may surprise a few folks. Going to be an interesting couple weeks down the stretch with everyone seemingly within reach of the district title. Really surprised Harrison County won this game.
