  1. With the new RPI system, playing these tough games helps them a lot. Assuming Ryle can beat SK for districts these games could go a long way for the 3rd round. Right now at 3-2 they are just a shade below two undefeated teams in RPI. That being said I’m all for a tough schedule but maybe not as tough as this season.
  2. In the past I believe it was a 30 point advantage but I believe it carried a stipulation of not kicking in until the 2nd half. When Ryle played Colerain years ago this came up but Ryle actually played them closer than expected.
  3. Elder has an impressive team this season. They had been ranked by everyone #1 in Cincinnati, and were 66th in the Nation last Friday. However Friday night they suffered a defeat to another Ohio Power House and the defending State Champs, St Ed’s. The goal for Ryle needs to be to enjoy the experience and use this game to prepare for Districts. Mostly they need to discover someone who can wield the reigns of QB if Lyons can’t go.
  4. Ryle will journey this Friday to play in a famous high school sports stadium better known as “The Pit”.
  5. I have heard people saying this is a step back for Ryle. I disagree, the defense looks better every week. I don’t know the time of possession but it would not surprise me if Highlands had the ball and our defense was on the field 75% of the time. The defensive line has applied pressure and had multiple sacks in every game. However if your playing man with your defensive backs your risking blown coverage without utilizing a safety. This is also amplified when your offense is passing the ball when it has no business doing so and this leaves too much time on the clock. The defense gave up 14 hard fought points by Highlands. Then 7 points came from a blocked punt in the end zone. The other 6 points came from Hollingsworth throwing one of the best over the top passes I have ever witnessed a high school QB throw. I also believe that pass was on a 4th down and it was a great catch by the receiver. The offense is struggling but honestly I think if Lyons would of played or maybe if they would of tried Stanken earlier they could of gathered some momentum. Would that momentum of changed the outcome? Probably not as the play calling has been bad. If your QB cannot throw more than 30 yards don’t attempt it. Ryle’s Offensive play calling put its QB in a terrible position on multiple plays. He was destined to fail. It seemed as if we passed more last night than we had all season. If you don’t have a QB, stack it up and pound the rock. Even if your not scoring your burning clock and giving your defense a better chance to make a play. I believe Ryle had 5 fumbles snaps, 3 ints, and a few bad punts. They have to fix these issues that have been persistent this season. Ryle’s RPI is still good and with Scott County and Elder still on the schedule it could stay pretty high. Even if they lose those games and win districts they will still have a very strong RPI. I believe they can win districts and from what I told about Campbell County & Dixie it is looking like a 2 part showdown of Ryle and SK for district 6.
  6. The scoreboard doesn’t tell the tale of the tape. Ryle’s offense was severely outcoached. Stanken came in for Ryle and looked decent, hopefully a week of practice can help him adjust back into the role of QB. However, no matter what Ryle has to figure its offense out before districts begin in 3 weeks. The defense just needs to keep it up.
  7. I never complain about officiating and it would not of made a difference but we have had some questionable calls tonight. Specifically some delays by the crew. The game should of been over 30 minutes ago.
  8. Offensive play calling is horrendous for Ryle. Defense has played on the field considerably more. Backup QB for Ryle just doesn’t have it.
  9. Agreed, like I keep saying I think Cov Cath is really that good. The OLine for Highland will struggle against Mayer.
  10. Defense is our strong point, Hollingsworth threw a perfect pass. Kid is a one man army.
  11. Ryle is going to lose this game off offense play calling alone.
  12. You’re just baiting people now. Ryle, SK and Cooper are all better teams than Beechwood this season.
  13. This Senior class has also added some great players who have moved in or decided to play. Specifically Coker, Savage and Teepen. All have played vital roles in the team’s success thus far.
  14. Ryle started a lot of underclassmen & believed too much of their own hype. Most in Raider Nation expected a down year but not as bad as it was. They struggled greatly at QB and the defense was adjusting to a new scheme, along with other factors. This season they do not have as many 2-way players as they are much deeper. Ryle’s Defense has been impressive this season. Against Cov Cath they even looked decent aside from the poor positions they had been placed in by the offense. The scoreboard reflects more about how poorly the offense performed for Ryle than the Defense. Ryle’s offense was virtually none existent in this game and I believe Ryle had 4 TOs all within the 50. Probably 6/11 offensive players first varsity minutes in their career including the QB. Since that game Lyons has played much better at QB. England has shown he’s special and the Oline has made drastic strides. The defense has also continued to improve. They have looked good against 4 total different styles of football this season. I stand by what I said earlier, this game will rest on Ryle’s secondary and the O-line.
  15. *Not a prediction, solely an example of the scenarios of the 3rd round.* Assuming the team with the best current record/RPI in each of the districts would win and make it to playoff week 3. Then 6a would play out like this, correct? 1-Seed -Male V 8-Seed - Tate’s Creek 3-Seed -Ryle V 6-Seed - St. X 2-Seed-N. Hardin V 7-Seed Oldham Cty 4-Seed-Trinity V 5-Seed Henderson Cty
  16. Here are the Cal Preps rankings for this week. I feel like they offer more details on how they arrive at the ranking for a team. calpreps.com
  17. Another big game with implications will be Ryle at Highlands. Maybe Ryle can earn some love this Friday.
  18. This game will be won or lost by Ryle’s Secondary. I think they have improved enough to win this game and I believe Ryle will surprise some folks. Raiders 21 Birds 14
  19. So with this RPI I assume it will create a need to “rub it in” or run the score up as it will boost your rank?
  20. My bad I didn’t scroll down to the breakdown on my first visit of the site. I agree that come November we will probably have some of the best BGP thread battles in recent memory. However I like the mixing up by using RPI. I think it will make things more interesting.
  21. Usually in these RPIs strength of schedule is the major factor correct?
  22. It seemed about half of the kids had bought in for Boone on Friday. Even losing they still supported their teammates and it was not forced by the coaching staff. Give Warner another year or two and he will have them above .500.
  23. I think your top 5 going into week 4; 1. Cov Cath 2. Highlands 3. Ryle 4. Simon Kenton 5. Cooper Game of the week has to be Ryle Vs. Highlands.
