  1. It's not their varsity team.. Jv/Frosh combo - maybe? They are getting beat pretty bad, understandably as they are playing other varsity teams.
  2. Very mild. Holmes has a couple really good players and if shots are falling, they can keep the run going
  3. The original topic was a "should we fire the coach" shot fired across the bow and no one really seemed to buy into that. The majority of responses were to offer reasons (other than the coach) that the team has been struggling. I see why you might think it is off topic, but it actually offers up a pretty good theory. The people who think it is coached related didn't seem to respond.
  4. I have seen the 8th and the 10th posted on here, but nothing about the 9th?
  5. Maybe in the past, but the highest level of club soccer is now sponsored by the U.S. National Team and is the Development Academy. You train about 44 weeks of the year and are not allowed to play any other form of organized soccer outside of sanctioned DA events - including high school. The local team for NKY is Cincinnati. They have been practicing since 1st week of January. Took 3 weeks off at Christmas. Some teams went to Florida in December and some teams just went to PA last weekend. Practices are 3-4 days per week and will increase to 5 per week shortly. There is some leniency in regards to playing high school basketball, I do not mean to imply that there isn't, but there are often times when girls simply have to choose which place to be. You can't do both at the same time. I know my post is about soccer - not volleyball, but I think there is little difference between what I said here and what applies there.
  6. I don't disagree, considering you qualified this as a school coach. For club coaches it is a whole different story. For the highest level of soccer, it is not even optional - it's contractual. You can not play for your school. If you don't like it, then don't play.
  7. it's not just the coaches - it's your team mates. There are only so many spots on the team and your team mates are counting on you to be there. And yes the coaches do get a little touchy about it.
  8. Have you seen players be at both basketball and volleyball (soccer) games at the same time? In separate towns? separate states? This is really not as debatable as people want to make it seem. Club soccer and volleyball conflict with basketball. Period. I can show you my schedule if you don't agree.
  9. i don't remember where i saw it, but i remember reading that after they looked into it, there wasn't anything significant that stood out. Of course, that is just what they reported, who knows the truth. I never would have thought it would have taken this long.
  10. Really? There are lots of other girls at NDA that are better than the players on the team? I truly do not know that answer, but that must be what you mean - right? I think when most people say things like that, what they really mean is that there are a lot of great athletes at the school - swimmers, golfers, soccer players, track stars, etc. Isn't that different than having a bunch of great basketball players to choose from?
  11. I didn't say that they SHOULD, just that it is a factor that you quickly dismissed and I believe it is a factor. There are far more middle school girls playing JV and freshman than you think. It is not just reserved for the "stud" players. Maybe for varsity, but plenty of middle school girls get to play Frosh and JV. Soccer has a many more competitive options for younger kids. Hardcore training academies start before kids even get into middle school. Competitive, athletic girls get hooked on soccer because it is easier to get a taste of the top competition at an early age. Plus, you can not play varsity soccer as a middle schooler and the club season is at the SAME time. Most players that do play high school still prioritize their club and only show up for games when they can, or they are playing for their high school because most middle schools do not have a soccer option. Exactly. Which is why getting out of middle school basketball is so important. a bad 8th grade year can turn girls off to the game. I've seen it happen
  12. In basketball it is significant to get the younger players excited about your program as early as possible. For most middle schoolers, playing up is a positive experience and gets them excited about their future and being a part of your program. It also keeps them from having a bad 8th grade basketball experience. With a lot of the top players moving up, good players left behind in the 8th grade league can have a long year with unbalanced skill sets. If girls lose interest in basketball in middle school, there are plenty of other options to choose from.
  13. Does anyone have a list of the previous NKAC winners? at least the last 5 to 10 years?
  14. This has been the cause of a huge swing to the market. For eight years the market was being artificially inflated. Demand was not sustainable, but rather reactionary. Any company that did not plan accordingly during those years and who did not react fast enough when Trump won (triggering the end of artificially demand inflation) could easily find themselves in this position. I am not critical at all of their management, predicting things like this are tough. Had Clinton won, they'd likely being having record sales.
  15. I've never seen a two page thread to say so very little... still unclear as to what happened
  16. I know its silly to put too much stock in a single game, but IF (and this is a huge IF) Scott can hang tough tonight and Clephane can have a GREAT game - I think she has a shot at it. Scott has had a good year after losing Stapleton and Clephane has been dominate, she has not dissapointed. But... how can you not give it to CC player after the year they have had. Most likely CC wins by 20+ and Clos takes home POY.
  17. what's your thoughts on 10 region POY at this point?
  18. which is one reason why this.... doesn't make much sense:idunno:
  19. Plus, what happens when they have some seasons down the road where they are not even that "good"? If you backed out of all your contracts just so you can toughen up your schedule for a couple years, good luck finding the easier games when you need them.
  20. They played them at home last year so they probably had a home-and-home agreement. They have about 7 or 8 games with this type of score - why question only the Calvary Christian game? Is it OK that they played St. Henry when they won by 32? They tried to add some better games via the holiday tournaments. But if you have agreements with teams, you can't just back out of those or it comes back to bite you in the long run.
