  1. Dixie continues to struggle to get shots and put the ball in the net. This was their 1st goal in the last 3 games not from a corner kick. Freshman Madeline Lawson got her 1st goal today after being out with an injury the 1st half of the season. The 1 second half goal was enough to hold on for the win over a good Russell team.
  2. Big win for the Colonels in the pouring rain. They scored on a corner kick midway through the first half and held on for the win.
  3. After a late goal by Dixie to tie the game, both teams failed to score in OT. The District match went to PK and Dixie won 4 - 3. Good match-up between these two
  4. Big win for the Lady Cougars on Monday. A 1-0 OT win against CC, this has to be one of the biggest wins in for the women's soccer program. Congratulations!
  5. There is now warning for that type of play - it's either deemed as an intentional play and direct to red, or it is deemed to be accidental/incidental and no card is given. Based on the lack of card, the ref must have viewed it as not intentionally stopping the ball and awarded the PK. After viewing the video, one could certainly argue that it warranted a red, but definitely should not have been a yellow.
  6. You are correct... I forgot them... I'd put HC at #6
  7. 1) Ryle - big gap - 2) Conner - smaller gap- 3) Highlands 4) Notre Dame 5) Dixie -small gap- 6) St. Henry I think 3, 4, and 5 are all really close together... after these 6.. the rest is a toss-up
  8. Anyone have the schedule for this weekend?
  9. The DA-Premier (the level at which players can still play high school) has 2 teams playing in the US Youth Soccer National Championship this week. The 2004's (freshman to be) made it to the Semifinals and play this weekend in the final 4. Here are the NKY girls (that I know of) on that team and their high schools. Ellie Drees - ? Molly McNeil - Calvary Christian Mya Gerak - Dixie (but playing DA next year) Morgan Gerak - Dixie (but playing DA next year) Megan Gessner - Highlands Ella Simkonis - NDA Gianna Virginillo - NDA Not sure how many of these girls will contribute this upcoming season to their school, but a look at what's in the pipeline. The U18 team has a lot of Ohio girls, but they too have made it to the National Semi-Finals and will play this weekend. I ma sure there are some NKY girls on the team, although I do not know which ones. Both teams have well-represented the high quality of soccer in Cincinnati/Northern KY. Good luck this weekend!
  10. Notre Dame will have a strong freshman class, led by 2 girls that declined DA spots. I see them as the team to beat. I'd peg Highlands as the #2, but really not much separation between them and NDA Dixie's goalie is out, which is a big loss. They added a freshman who played DA last year and declined for this year, but lost 2 freshman who took DA spots this time around. They tied Daviess County Panthers last night in a scrimmage. Ryle's Basketball girls are not playing this year.
  11. I am not trying to categorize or paint with a broad brush, but aren't the 3 most dominant positions: 1) Atheist - I know there is no God 2) Deist - I know there is a God 3) Agnostic - I don't know if there is a God Less than 5% of people are atheist, so doesn't that mean that most people were agnostic at some point in their life? I view agnostics as people trying to sort things out and figure out what is going on around them. Often struggling with the issue of faith and sometimes the issue of submission to a higher power that they are not certain about - it's understandable.
  12. I would walk it through this way: 1) Does the Bible allow for the taking of life as punishment for certain crimes? I believe the answer is yes, and this includes being under NT grace and not just reserved for OT Mosaic law. 2) Does the Bible allow for man to define laws that have authority over the people? I believe yes. The Bible paints a picture of structure and order. This includes a hierarchy within the human race. Yes, we are all equal, but the Bible acknowledges a relationship between Employee/Employer, Servant/Master, Parent/child, government/citizen - where there is recognition of authority - not inequality, but authority. 3) Does that allow for the Death Penalty? yes 4) Do I think we should have the death penalty? No. it's just not that effective of a deterrent. Executions are carried out so rarely that they really have no impact on crime reduction. the cost, time, and emotional investment for the victims family are not worth it. Plus, it is a divisive issue that really isn't worth arguing over. There is just not enough gain in winning or losing this one. so, while I think it is allowed, I wouldn't argue for it.
  13. This is where I get hung up on it. Innocent people have been killed - 100%. I don't know if that includes through the modern American court system or not, but throughout time, governments have taken life when it was not warranted. Is that OK? It seems like it can't be OK. So, then are we saying... The death penalty is allowed as long as it went through the American court system? Seems arrogant on our part to think so highly of our process to allow for the decision of life, but for a third world country, they can't do it because they will get in wrong.
  14. I agree with what you are saying, except I see a different outcome. You are right about the conflict it creates. You are assuming the kids will chose to play high school soccer and skip all of the local exposure opportunities. I think it is the opposite. The better players are going to quit high school soccer for the sake of being available to play in the Spring Showcases. I don't even see it being that close of a decision. To play club soccer in the fall is not easy to do I think you even underestimated your "5 hours away" comment. There would not be any (many) teams in a 5 hour radius playing high level fall club soccer. The Development Academy is already creeping in on the Northern KY High School teams and pulling kids out of KHSAA soccer. Some kids are playing DA as far away as Lexington. Moving soccer to spring would in essence be the end of high level soccer in KHSAA.
  15. Then there is the example of the Hebrew slaves. Moses led a full revolt and overthrow of the Egyptians. It seems not as clear when local government's are to be given authority when viewing it threw that example.
  16. When considering whether earthly government's hold any authority, I'd add Jesus's example of, giving to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser and give to God what belongs to God. The Roman empire was a pagan nation spreading terror throughout the ancient world, yet Jesus recognized their earthly authority. Even His trial and crucifixion were examples of subjugating to the local authority.
  17. if schools and AD's are pursuing it, it is not because it is in the best interest of girls soccer, but rather in the best interest of the other fall sports that compete for resources.
  18. The bigger conflict would be with club soccer. For most high school club teams, the season is November until June. They leave August - October open for the high school season. It would be a disaster to move the school season the same time as the club season.
  19. scored a lot of points... a whole lot of points. His longevity has helped him. High PPG + play a lot of games = a lot of career points
  20. yes they are - very fast and athletic, but will need some size for the long haul.
