  1. This was one of CC's best showings so far. Yes, I know, wins are what it is all about (and they have had some BIG ones), but..... this was the nationally ranked, defending State Champions, whose only loss was to #1 in the country, that can smother you with D1 players. CC is a great team, but on paper they should not have been one shot away from taking the win. If I only had two choices to pick from: Mercer by 2 or Mercer by 20 - I would have guessed 20. Great job Camels and I can't wait for a rematch at BB&T Arena - stay strong!
  2. Great job with the updates..... sounds like an awesome game... I can't believe the swings in score!! Back and forth!!
  3. Haven't you heard that if you ban firearms at any establishment, then you wont have any shootings because everyone that comes there will read the sign and know that guns are not allowed. if they happen to have a gun on them, they would then return home to leave the gun before coming back and pursuing their business.... this is all common knowledge... i am surprised you did not know.
  4. Tonight will be the night that the rest of CC will need to step up if the Camels will keep rolling. Schwarber and Clos will be doing great if they can just equalize Souder and Robins. Even if CC's top two can outplay Mercer's top two... it won't be by much..... this game will be won by depth. In another thread there was talk about other D1 caliber players on Campbell County.... tonight will be the night that is put to the test.... It's great to speculate, predict, and plan for further development of younger players... .but it's not a question of whether Mercer has more depth beyond Souder/Robins.... they do... and I think that will show tonight.....
  5. I am not exactly clear on the difference between a "bank draft" and other forms of transfer such as cashier check, or even a regular bank check.... so maybe that is where i am mis-guided. The physical money is still "sitting" in the bank - why not pay the cancellation fee and create a new bank draft. It seems that should be possible. the check was issued by a bank for the purpose to be cashed at the same bank by the intended recipient. the bank voids the first check and issues a new one. I understand the risk to the bank is if the old check turns up and someone tries to cash it, but it's made out to a specific person so I would expect significant security measures to ensure proper identification. if the check finally gets delivered and the true recipient tries to cash it... then the bank should be able to electronically validate the authenticity of the check....i.e.... check number 123456 is a valid check for the amount of $800,000. if there was no electronic way of validating the check... then it would be too easy to counterfeit. If all i need is a paper that "looks" like a real check..... I find it hard to believe that the bank does not have an electronic way to void the draft. but the bigger question... why not just do electronic transfer? obviously UPS is not to blame here.
  6. I am curious of everyone's thoughts after the inaugural session of the Development Academy comes to a close. did it work out the way you thought? Did it / will it have an impact on High School soccer? just curious to what thoughts are out there
  7. I think sports is a great analogy for faith. There are fans that have such strong faith that their team will win that they spend $100’s for a ticket, paint their face, and brave freezing temperatures to be there to enjoy their team’s victory. They even have so much faith in their team that they wager their money. Yet… for many fans, week after week they leave in disappointment. I work with Cleveland Browns fans…. I see it every Monday as they sheepishly pay their debts. You would think that next week they would reevaluate their actions, but no… it is a repeat of the week before. Their faith is what I call blind faith, or faith without substance. There is no evidence for what they believe… there is no past performance that would indicate that what they believe to be true is actually true. So why do they believe? Because they are fans… which is short for fanatic. A fanatic doesn’t need any evidence they simply just “believe” based on their passion and emotion. For me, faith is a strong belief in what I know to be true. I am not a fanatic, but rather a believer in what is true. My faith is based on my hope. My hope is based in what I know. I do not put my faith in something unknown, unworthy, or incapable… but rather what I know is secure. Back to a sports analogy…. If I train hard, if I practice hard, if I prepare all week for the battle (on the sports field)… then there is substance behind my faith. There is a reason for me to “believe” that I will be victorious. I may not win every time, but it doesn’t change my faith because I “know” that my training is making me stronger and growing my ability to do compete. But… if I am not training, not preparing, not trying to better myself… and then I go into battle expecting (believing) that I will be victorious (just because I have faith that God or whoever will help me prevail)… then that is foolishness… not faith.
  8. Beating Mercer would have to put them there... Adding a win over Mercer would mean they have a better record, more big wins, won head-to-head, and did what Sacred Heart failed to do - I can't see any argument against it. But... I am afraid that's not going to happen. I see their great run coming to an end. Sacred Heart and Mercer are both at a level that I am not sure Campbell can match. This will be the toughest team that they have seen... I look for this to be double digit Mercer win.
  9. LOL - never seen a invitational tournament hosted by a school be set-up any other way.... not much fun to be hosting everyone else and have your team go out in the first round.
  10. I saw Ally Gessner (formerly of Highlands) just signed with Cincinnati Bearcats
  11. Was he one of the coaches red carded at the end of the St. Henry game? I never saw where it named him specifically... I just heard it was "coaches"
  12. Losing to a 3-4 Mason County team seems to at least leave the door open. Blowing a 15+ point lead in the Hoops for Harvest event was not a statement of dominance. They very well may win the 9th and roll in the state tournament... wouldn't be surprised at all if that happened.... But to take a 6-1 Conner team and say " its not even close" and "shouldn't be a debate" seems a little misguided.
  13. 3 to 5 seems to be quite a stretch... not sure where that is coming from. Their top two are super solid, but I think the list of D1 players currently on that team stops at 2.... someone mentioned Stapleton, but that would be news if that is true.
  14. I didn;t look up their records... but assuming you are correct... There's a pretty big difference between being 6-1 and 6-3. Conner has won 86% of their games.... Ryle has only won 66.6% Ryle lost at H4H... Conner won against a good Tecumseh team. Yes, Ryle won head-to-head... and that should carry a lot of weight. I think if both teams had equal records that be the deciding factor... but I think they got this right.
  15. yep... i thought the same thing... case of mistaken identity.
  16. Having seen Sacred Heart, Mercer, and Campbell all in person.... I had Campbell well behind the other two via the eye test.... but they continue to pull out such great victories. Gritty.... resilient.... disciplined... all words that come to mind when watching this team. I have no doubt they could play with anyone at this point. This is a team built for March!
  17. Shelby Harmeyer had a huge night. She didn't miss too many shots. SK killed Dixie on the boards and their press created several bad turnovers for Dixie. It was a competitive 1st half, but fairly one sided in the 2nd. Dixie's top scorer was 8th grader Madelyn Lawson.. having only played about 1/3 of the game.
  18. only 5 more pages to go in order to keep on par.... there, i did my part.
  19. Mercy won by a couple... it was a 1 point game both ways back and forth with about a minute to go... lots of good shooting
  20. Mercy made some big threes to close the half and lead 30 to 28 at halftime
