  1. They won the All A State Championship. Yes, South Oldham beat on them pretty good but they also went to the Final 4 of State Tournament, so not a shabby team. I don't think DCA played their best game in that one as well.
  2. I think it is going to be a wide open race for POY (SR. award) for the upcoming season. Guard heavy candidates outside of Ateny, who to me has inside track and is best player/prospect without question. Leek Ateny, DCA Walker Craig, Rockcastle Co. Kendall Phillips, Wayne Co. Aedyn Absher, Somerset Zach Hutchinson, SW Peyton Higgonbotham, McCreary Central Carson Fraley, Pulaski Co.
  3. Reading your post had me curious on how it correlated with wins as well. Wins per season since 2022/23 backs up the metrics and your thought process too: 1) Pulaski Co. 23 2) DCA 22.6 3) Mercer Co. 19.6 4) Lincoln Co. 19 5) Somerset 18
  4. I think the district these two play in is a huge factor as well. Frederick Douglass, Station, Henry Clay and Sayre is stout. No offense to the Frankfort area schools.
  5. Appears to fit the description. Younger guy, no head coaching experience but has assisted at the collegiate lower levels. Rockcastle Co. native, so maybe someone like @RoCkMaN28 can provide some further details on Coach Todd.
  6. Anybody know anything about Coach Todd's background? I know he's a Rockcastle Co. native, and that's about it.
  7. What would the Boyle faithful grade this hire?
  8. They've stepped the facilities up. Last summer, did a full renovation of the old YMCA Alumni Center with weight room upgrades.
  9. Higgonbotam was hurt in Somerset game, and the District Semis vs SW was nip and tuck game the whole way in which they lost 61-57. They’ve won the district tournament 3 times in last 5 seasons. Underrated and solid program year in and out.
  10. They were 1 seed in 48th last season and bring everyone back.
  11. Really hard nosed athletic kid. Sim. To the Stephens kid they had a few years ago that won POY.
  12. If Danville big is healthy they could make a run in 45th. High on his potential.
  13. 47th will be strongest district. Pulaski, Somerset and Rock will all be in top 10.
  14. Higgonbotham from McCreay avg. 20 and 10 last year.
  15. Mccreary will win the 48th district. Mark it down.
  16. It has been close vested. I haven’t heard much on it since early in process. Interested to see who it ends up being.
  17. Boyle football coaches aren’t responsible for the success of the basketball program. Just tricky, I would suppose when they’re the shot callers on the position. Laffew has been an AD for a long time, so he has experience with it.
  18. Therein lies the problem. All rewarding teaching jobs, but all very difficult to do while leading a basketball program.
  19. Job is posted until April 18th. Which, leads me to think interviews would begin early next week with a hire being next week.
  20. Congrats to Coach Holland to getting close to family. Quite the run at Hazard. He mentioned yesterday in his presser he wanted to go 4 to 5 more years, and he thought Pike Central was a "Gold Mine" type of place.
  21. Most of his family lives in Pikeville.
  22. Coach Holland career record is 774-274.
  23. As reported by Brian Milam of WKYT Sports.
  24. I could be wrong, but pretty sure Somerset is beginning to play one of the county teams per season starting next year with Southwestern. Then the following season play Pulaski. Someone more in the know can correct me if I’m wrong, or clarify with more details.
