Al Holland named Pike County Central Head Coach

Featured Replies

Congrats to Coach Holland to getting close to family.  Quite the run at Hazard.  He mentioned yesterday in his presser he wanted to go 4 to 5 more years, and he thought Pike Central was a "Gold Mine" type of place.

This isn’t another bogus retirement type thing is it?

I wouldn't think so. Most if not all of his family lives in Pikeville and he's winding down his career.

Never know with him after the last staged retirement debacle!

I’m not sure about why he retired at Hazard and then came back several years ago but it might have had something to do with the retirement pension and second hire with a second salary. I think I said that right. A lot of people have done that in past years in many school positions.
But that may not be the situation. Just a guess on my part.

I believe he is gone. They have had talks with coaches outside of the Hazard family.
