  1. I think ultimately it will help him because there is a career component to the award in most coaches mind.
  2. Ateny is the best collegiate prospect I've ever seen come from this region. And, my knowledge base goes back to early 2000s late 90s.
  3. I'll give you numbers for sure. If we're talking postseason and team stuff, Wayne Co. hasn't done much during Phillips career unless we're talking MS years. That could definitely change this season though. They are playing great basketball.
  4. When handled, I was referring to who won the game. I would also say there has been more postseason success for Absher. Phillips is a great player, so yes you couldn't go wrong either way.
  5. I'll give you that, but he's also been playing since 7th grade. Absher handled the head to head matchup last season, so I would probably wait until they meet again this year. If we're talking pure talent/production, Ateny should probably get the nod. I don't think you could go wrong with either of the three, and in a typical year where the SR. class isn't so loaded all would probably win it.
  6. Who’s everyone mid-season POY? I think it comes down to these three players: Leek Ateny (DCA), Aedyn Absher (Somerset) and Kendall Phillips (Wayne Co.). Dark horse, Peyton Higgonbotham Mccreary.
  7. We can differ in opinion. It’s fine to agree to disagree. Your initial argument was using one metric, and I countered with another metric. All good.
  8. DCA was the only team in the field last season that made the big Sweet Sixteen. I wouldn't exactly call that a stacked field. IMO, there will multiple class A schools make it from this year's field.
  9. I think Caverna with Gavin Lightning getting eligible and North Hardin getting Berry Eligible will propel these two teams to the top.
  10. Coach Bentley does a great job. He was very successful at Estill Co., and appears to be flipping the culture.
  11. Definitely don’t see it as a weak field. KSR rankings aren’t the end all be all. Out of those teams, only DCA advanced to the big state tournament. Caverna just got Gavin Lightning eligible and Keathley for Martin Co. is leading scorer in state. Somerset obviously beating DCA on their home floor kept the defending state champions out of it to repeat. I would let it shake out before judging the field as a whole. Several of these teams could be at Rupp in March.
  12. I would be shocked if Martin Co. isn’t there, but that’s why you play the games. Breathitt wasn’t even expected to be here, but had a great upset over Hazard. Somerset has been playing good ball, and I guarantee WV has their full attention. WV shoots 26 3’s per game, and when you play that style can beat anyone.
  13. Clinton Co, Caverna, Somerset and Martin Co. “could” win their big regional title as well.
  14. I see Caverna and Lyon Co. coming out.
  15. Thoughts and predictions? My first thought is the top side of the bracket is pretty loaded up.
  16. This job has to come open, right?
  17. Tough matchup for Pulaski. DCA has the ability to take away your paint scores/touches. Which, is Pulaski game.
  18. I would hold judgement on Caverna until Lightning gets some run with there guys. Obviously, Adair is better with their additions and Breeze is a solid ball coach. Larue Co. is solid and is well coached. The Harris kid is a really good scoring PG.
  19. I thought they had decent size when they played at Somerset. #1 and #5 had pretty good length. Not much bulk though.
  20. It's suppossed to be the defacto tiebreaker for district seeding. Not sure everyone follows that, but KHSAA mandated it after Covid.
  21. I may have been off on his stat line. I seen this morning their team had him for a Triple/Double last night.
  22. I believe his stat line was 22 PTS/9 Rebs/9 Blocks.
