I see him 2-3x a week and my own played with Ursuline last week, so that would surprise me. But I will never say never. His very good friend Keith Gywnn also put his name in. Two very high level coaches and character guys. Doesn't matter who they name as I am sure the administration will do what is right for that school. Jerry Allen and Jason Litz and a couple "helpers" have been nothing short of tremendous helping these young ladies this June.

Many of us wish, but its not going to happen. I don't see him leaving Ursuline this late in the game and leaving them in a bind. Great coach and even better person and great player and even better person in him and Alexis.

Best of luck to all the Junior to be and senior to be KY players. Talented group of young ladies. Hoping Niece ankle is ok. One of my favorite kids and players.

when is this game and where

You have no idea how bad it is. I am embarrassed for the parents who do this. Paid coaches having their chairs brought to the sidelines, their coffee made and brought to them before the game. Driving them to the games, drinking with them. Buying them year end gifts when they are paid coaches and the players are high school age. Its been as bad as parents telling the coaches who to play and not play and where. No its has no impact on my kid, just an observation by many parents who do not act that way.

Although I agree on fundamentals, I would also say the very core of what the royals did and who they did it with is excelling at the high school level now. You would have a hard time with finding issue with the players from Mackes team 3 years ago and how they are now as players. I would say they have developed as has the Legacy team who did the same as the Lady Knights when they were 5th graders.

yes she did and taking nothing away from Dajah McClendon as she knows Sophie has the utmost respect for her and the HC coaching staff, but holding Sophie scoreless in that offensive system isn't a shock. NDA 48 HC 37 Big night for Martin again. She was celebrating her 1000 high school point to start the game ( congrats #12) and then had a terrific shooting night again. @ 26-28 pts

I didn't see the first half but heard she was and in the 2nd half yes she was on "fire" and was fantastic. She really looked to attack more and got to the line more than usual as well. Which then opened up the 3s and she was on. A nice win at Scott who is a very dangerous offensive team. Holding them 11-12 pts below their average didn't hurt.

Got to see her play last night in a 8-9pt Conner win over St. Pius. She wasn't a huge factor in the game BUT you can see the areas where she will make an impact in her next 4 years. I was surprised to see her playing so far away from the basket. Conner a lot of fun to watch as a 8th grade team, even from the view of a Pius parent. Very well coached, go 5-6 deep, move the ball very well. Play the in and out game well. Hats off to their 8th grade night. Players gave St Pius players a "gift" we thought it was tissues and band aids for the whooping they were about to give but Pius hung tough and led a lot in the first half. Impressive 8th grade team in Conner.

Notre Dame 43 Beechwood 36. It was a 10-12 point game in the first half. If I recall it was 19-9 NDA at half. Beechwood began to deny and faceguard Hagen in the 2nd qtr, I assume because she was guarding/denying Johnson and it was attempt to wear her down, and then faced both Martin and Hagen in the second half. NDA struggled to score in the third (5 pts) and it was tied after 3. Martin hit a huge contested 3 in the opening seconds of the 4th. NDA did a nice job adjusting to what Beechwood was doing and Nda went up 5 for awhile and then back to 3. Gribben hit 2 of 2 and Hagen hit 4 of 4 throws in the final minute to seal it. Beechwood is much better than I had heard or expected. Very well coached. Nice district win on the road for NDA. I have to guess NDA missed 10-13 point blank layups uncontested. Best of luck to both the rest of the way.

I agree we know why, but to be real. When you have a very very nice player and she has 0 at half with open looks and is just having one of those nights, I think the mentality to get your leading scorer and player who gets such a high % of the touches and even higher % of the sets going, isn't necessarily the wrong thing. Especially when she plays off energy for defense. Going to have nights like that. I do agree when it happens and you could see her frustration and her coaches frustration for her (not at her) even more so, get her or any player some easy looks, transition basket, maybe a 7-10 ft look from the middle of the zone to get the confidence going. I would have to think he was thinking, if we can get her to hit 2 of 3, she may hit her next 5 threes and break the game open. It didn't happen and NCC made it hard on her. Not because she is mine but I also know its not the smartest thing to bench a playmaker and capable three shooter for doing what got you the lead in the first place at half. Hard to have the "mo" and confidence to take over when your running mate is having a tough night, when your worried about being on the bench for trying to take the pressure and focus off of her. Mine was more upset she couldn't pick her up last night. I have some green to wager she wont go 0 - whatever for quite a while if ever again. Great thing about hoops. Not a long wait till the next game. 46 hrs.

If the coach thinks they are deserving as a team to run then it is what it is. Coaches have different philosophies on handling internal situations. This is his way. 10 mins, 30 mins, really doesn't matter. Its a NDA team issue. Play ball.

LOL, I saw the same "stink eye" I also agree the NDA coaches did a excellent job in this game (besides the stall ball up 6 with 230 left in the 3rd with Leigh on the bench. IMO) Really liked to collaboration they had before gathering in the huddle with the team. Players felt like everyone was on the same page. NDA has moved on from this game as it means nothing if they get thumped tonight or Saturday. Was one game, one night and NDA hopes they meet again as it would mean NDA made it out of districts.

RCC thanks for saying hello and again great to see yours playing again. HHS is super good and will be fine. A lot of rotating parts is not easy especially the first few games. Shout out to the crowd and the new gym. First class gym and great crowd support. Envious of both

Great catch during the game and there was to much of this. Players think they are open because a set is called but the PG can see she doesn't have the angle or defender sealed off, or your hands aren't out or up, or you were lazy on your cut and the defender is on your hip, so she isn't going to pass the ball to you. Your open in practice because there is no one guarding you type of thing.The last thing a teammate wants to do is start that talk especially during the game. Just work hard and play. But your correct and the PG heard it and dealt with it after the game with a couple players. It is being seen more now because there are some playing time battles going on and kids wanting more touches that aren't getting them as nothing is designed for them. They will work it out. Not about where you are in late December, which is much more competitive and better than last year, but where they are in Feb and March.

We must have seen the same game. Although it was very bad it did not cost NDA the game.

Not a pretty game at all and it happens. That pretty much sums it up. Hit the throws at 60-70% and you win by 20+. A lot of penetration and dishes that 90% of the time are finished and just didn't go last night. But this NDA team plays hard every second of the game. This group plays for each other with great respect and caring for each other no matter what grade they are in or "status" on the team. They are playing for their teammates and that itself is a lot of fun to watch.
