You probably won't hear much about it. Warren Central (historically would rank up there in the premier football programs) fires 2 coaches in back to back years, then hires a middle school football coach that I'm not sure has ever coached a high school football game, after (from what I've heard) had 0 applicants for the job. There might be a story on page 6 on Friday afternoon........

The effects of Warren County's decisions with regards to Central are certainly ones for the history books. Just when you think it couldn't get more baffling, it does. Dragonfire, I keep hearing they are looking into the possibility of canceling the 2016 varsity season. What are the ramifications of that, if any?

Why is this always an issue with the football finals? I never hear complaints from the Class A Tournament, boys or girls state basketball tournaments, or golf, for that matter. They are nearly week long events, but there seems to be such a concern about missing school during state football finals.

Also, if they hire within do they have to wait the full 30 days?

On a serious note, Dragonfire, what's your take on kids thinking they would be better off to transfer and the KHSAA allowing it (which I doubt they will)? Unless I have misjudged Coach Stephens (I have no evidence indicating I did), how is it fair to players to continue to ride this roller coaster at WC?

Who in the world would want to take a job following the last two coaches, both of whom were fired after their FIRST seasons? Plumber discussed the future for players. Their the ones who are hurt the most. The KHSAA should consider transferring options for the kids who are looking at their 4th coach in 4 years. Is that going to help stabilize the program? Absolutely not, but NOTHING the administration or the Central Office has done a single thing to help those kids!

Dragonfire listed numerous reasons for the downfall of WC. All of which, are correct. But back to numbers. This will be their 4th coach in 4 years. What kid wants to come out and put their heart and soul into a program that has zero stability. I have heard NOTHING but great things about Coach Stephens and what he was trying to build at WC. He's well respected amongst other coaches and seems to have the best interests of WC and his players at heart. I have no clue what is going on over there and it's very difficult to watch. The article in the Daily News shows what kind of person he is. He definitely took the high road. If nothing else, he could have just said no comment. My hot head probably would have said much more.

Rumors flying.

With the return of QB Jackson Adams (District 2 POY, SKY conf. 1st team QB), they should be equivalent, if not better, than last years team. If Willie Reynolds buys in, great. If he doesn't, they'll be fine. I can agree with Quickasacat in that they're still a few athletes away from being competitive with BG for 4 quarters.

My family of 5 can do about one game a week. We try to choose a boy-girl doubleheader. At $6-$7 per person, (regardless of age) is sometimes tough to come by. I don't have a solution for the Sweet 16. However, fans may take more interest over all if weekly games weren't so pricey. Once in a blue moon our school will offer a discount for student tickets. The gym and/or stadium (during football) see a significant increase in attendance. Young and old. I'm well aware that budgets are tight but many families are strapped for cash and dishing out hundreds, and often times, much more for a basketball tournament is simply too much. I will also add that high school football seems to be giving high school basketball in Kentucky a run for its money. Maybe the KHSAA should gear it's focus toward that.

Coach Carter resigned some time ago. From what I understand his family is moving closer to wife's family. The fact that it's been kept so quiet could mean they already have someone in mind. Hard for many people to know about an opening if you only go to a district's web site and search for job openings.

Why in the world does the KHSAA only pay for (59) persons? Does the KHSAA release an expense report from the finals? Do they get a portion of the concessions and/or parking? If they have title sponsors to pay for the facilities, where does the rest of the money go? Especially, if you're not paying for "commuting" teams.

Often times, being a great coach is more than just keeping a very talented and athletic team at the top. No disrespect to Coach Wallace and his staff, but many of us on this board could walk into BG next season and win. Coaches who get the best out of their players that aren't as athletic deserve credit when credit is due. Congratulations to Coach Seabolt.

Grades can be irrelevant when getting into college. If you're homeschooled and make straight A's, but have a 15 on your ACT, your grades are questionable. If you have all A's and make a 28, fair enough. You're naïve to think giving grades to make kids eligible in public schools isn't happening. Geez, giving grades to kids who don't do any extracurricular activity has been done. The "move them on" mentality is alive in well. Retention is a very bad thing in public schools today.

Moving it back one week is not a viable option. Graduation is scheduled for 9:30am and 2:00pm on Saturday. I still believe WKU provides the most electric atmosphere for high school games, I never really enjoyed watching the games at Papa Johns. It wouldn't be better at Commonwealth.

To complicate things a little further. There is a Lady Topper basketball game scheduled at 2pm on Saturday afternoon. Also, most students will not be going home that weekend, finals begin the following Monday. It's a recipe for disaster.
