I will tend to agree with you. Male had one long drive that resulted in TD, and 4 long passes for TDs. Once Trinity shut down the air, Male stalled. St X may have learned from that.

Region 7 seams to be mostly shared fields(which are in pretty bad shape). Some turf fields which makes it much nicer. Collegiate has soccer only fields, but they get used by clubs a bunch.

Just read an article that says that Abdikadir suffered a dislocation of a knee cap earlier this month and he is unlikely to play again this season. That is a big blow.

St X and Ballard are both tough first round games. Ballard has lost to all three of their potential opponents already this year pretty handily. St X will be a hand full for whomever they play in the first round. Atherton and and St Francis are dogs and will be walkovers for whomever plays them. Atherton's keeper definitely has potential to change games. Depending on the draw, we could see a final 4 in the region of St X, Trinity, Collegiate and Manual. Interesting stat. Besides their head to head competition, these teams have lost a combined 1 game this year.

I heard he tweaked his ankle about a week ago. It may just be precautionary at this point. They didn't need him the last couple of games to advance. Depending on the draw, they may not need him for the next game either.

I will carry over my choices from the other page: These are just players that I have seen and they made a big impact Offensive players: Haji Abdikadir- Collegiate-Jr- 40 goals in 18 games played. UofL commit. Andrew Minnis- John Hardin-Jr- 33 goals, 24 assist in 21 games Defensive players: Its hard to put up stats for defensive players. Even team defensive stats don't tell the story: Cole Gallagher-KCD-Keeper-Sr- Awesome keeper when I have seen him play. without him KCD would be a total train wreck this year. Cameron Smith- Trinity- Sr- Center Back- Big, strong, center back. dominates games in the middle. aggressive and great in the air. Great on set pieces on both sides of the ball. UofL commit.

As for player of the year in the Louisville area, he will be up against Haji from Collegiate who is pretty awesome. Fast and he can play. 40+ goals, however their schedule is a bit weak. He is a UofL commit and skipping his senior year at Collegiate. Cameron Smith is a big defender from Trinity. Good in the air and on set pieces. 4 year varsity player(79-8-6). Also a UofL commit. He dominates games from the back. Of the players that I have seen this year those two plus Andrew Minnis above really impressed me. I saw Thomas play once, but wasn't aware of him. I also thought the keeper from KCD is very good. Cole Gallagher. However going 8-11 and giving up 2.0 goals a game isn't an impressive stat line. He is SOLID. Not sure where they would be without him. What about in Northern KY, Lexington, BG,.. perhaps this needs a thread of its own

Central Hardin and John Hardin had split games during the season, so I am not surprised that this happened. Hate to see Andrew Minnis crash out this early, he can flat out score.

Can X's DBs stop the Male passing attack? If X can stop the long ball, they have a chance. If the Male receivers get chances in the X defensive backfield, its over. Male-34 St X-24

Region 7 has 4 of the top 5 Maher Ranking teams(record vs. each other): Collegiate(0-1) Trinity(1-0-1) St X (1-2) Manual(1-0-1) First big showdown in District play will be St X vs. Collegiate on 10/13

I think it varies depending on the age and if it is a boy or a girl. Let me know and I will be glad to share my experience

In an interesting follow up, Oldham County lost last night to North Hardin 1-0. two games in two days is very hard. Now with one day off, Oldham goes to St X. All three road games. Oldham was 15-2 , and now has lost 3 in a row (adding in a 5-2 loss to Manual), and a potential 4th in a row with the St X game. Thats a tough grind going into tournament play

where did he go to grade school?

When the bigger teams carry 50+ seniors and 50+ juniors, some of those juniors will be very good, but not good enough to get varsity time. They get their reps at JV. Which makes the imbalance at JV very large. Some good players don't get to see the field until their senior year.

They may have been in the 7th a while ago. I do recall Trinity being in the 6th region about 15 years ago

caught part of this one. Oldham is fast and very young. They could make a run at state. ended up 3-1

my prediction is that Oldham is actually in the 8th region. with that being said, they are the only team to beat Daviess Co., and have had a good run. They just lost to Manual at home, and just got by make. Trinity 2-0

Male is GOOD. PRP has just been through a meat grinder. That being said. I think PRP could make a run through the playoffs if they can get some rest and stay away from Male and Trinity.

I saw that Ridder was suspended for two games. What was that about?

I have known Will for years and like Will, but he just isn't the caliber of coach of Beatty. If he is blaming his failures of his team over his tenure on the background of his players, that is pretty sad.

looking at comparative schedules, ST X has wins against: Lex Cath 1-5 (3a) Central 1-4 (3a) Highlands 1-5 (5a) PRP 4-2(6a) Trinity beat: Brentwood-TN 4-1 Ensworth-TN 4-2 Lafayette 5-1 (6a) Male 5-1 (6a) J-town 1-5 (6a) PRP 4-2 (6a) Trinity has played a much harder schedule, their first four opponents are 18-1 if you remove the Trinity losses. Trinity also had two weeks to prepare with the j-town game being basically a week off. St X hangs on until halftime. Trinity rolls 45-17

Trinity seemed to press forward early, bringing a defender up and putting pressure on st x. After the first goal Trinity dropped back and played more defensively. Trinity's second goal came from a long all into the box and the keeper misplayed the ball in traffic. Ball went through his hands and carried into the goal. At that point Trinity got more players behind the ball. St x had a nice shot from distance that got in, to close the gap with about 6 minutes left. But they couldn't muster anything else. Difference in the game was the keepers. Trinity's keeper played very well, st.x not so much. The 7th region is going to be very tough. Throw Collegiate into the mix and you may have the top 3 teams in the state coming out of the 7th.
