warbeagle Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 I will carry over my choices from the other page: These are just players that I have seen and they made a big impact Offensive players: Haji Abdikadir- Collegiate-Jr- 40 goals in 18 games played. UofL commit. Andrew Minnis- John Hardin-Jr- 33 goals, 24 assist in 21 games Defensive players: Its hard to put up stats for defensive players. Even team defensive stats don't tell the story: Cole Gallagher-KCD-Keeper-Sr- Awesome keeper when I have seen him play. without him KCD would be a total train wreck this year. Cameron Smith- Trinity- Sr- Center Back- Big, strong, center back. dominates games in the middle. aggressive and great in the air. Great on set pieces on both sides of the ball. UofL commit.
Sir! Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 Cameron Smith. Trinity. Really solid defender. What he adds in the air, both defensively and offensively, is special. Haji. Collegiate. Haven't seen him play but impressive stats and people who have seen him seem to gush. I'm almost hoping LC comes out of Region 7 just so I can get a chance to see him play in states.
drew4489 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 I have seen all of the players mentioned other than Minnis from JH. Cole is hands down the best goal keeper I have seen and unfortunate to see his season/ high school career over so soon. Haji is obviously a very solid player. Heard the same about him being injured and agree they may not need him in the 1st round of regionals. The only player I may add would be #10 from North Hardin. I believe he has close to 40 assists this season and over a 100 in his career. Not familiar with many northern KY or Lexington players though.
groinpull Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Using stats to determine an offensive POY is sketchy at best. Strength of schedule for their teams plays a large part. I'd agree on Smith from Trinity, he's the best defender I've seen this year.

I'd agree on Smith from Trinity, he's the best defender I've seen this year. Cameron Smith puts up pretty good offensive stats for a center back. He has scored 7 goals in 6 different games thus far. The average Maher Rank of the OH/KY teams he's scored against is 146 so he's scoring against good competition. Goals against toughest opponents: Highlands #78, LexCath #93, South Oldham #169 and St X #21. I'd love to see some other names and supporting arguments from around the state. Who have you seen who is like Top-5 strong?

Well I pretty much nailed the keeper of the year, the defender of the year and the offensive player of the year. my forth pick got shut out. Had to come on here and pat myself on the back!!
Sir! Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 On post-season to date, I'd put Michael Vogt up there as one of best couple of defenders. My favorite part of his game is the incredibly good touch he gets on the ball whether playing it on the ground or directly out of the air. To quote one of my football friends, "it's like he's got hands on his dang feet."

warbeagle Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I didn't see Andrew Minnis on the All State team , completely shut out, which is odd. I think his numbers, performance this year and total body of work would be deserving of at least honorable mention. On review he has 103 goals and 54 assist for his career, with one season to go(which puts him 14th on the all time list), and was KY Youth Soccer Player of the Year last year.

I am going to go out on a limb here.... I doubt he was nominated. I can think of a few from JH that are deserving, Andrew and Rylan Jaquess are definite omissions in my opinion.
justwondering1 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I am not saying STATE top 5 for all of these, but worth mentioning in Western KY. Brian Wilhelm, Calloway; R. Garcia-53 goals Graves; GK T. Massa, J. Allard, Mccracken.
