Soccer (Only) Field

Featured Replies

All of the High Schools in this county have Soccer "Only" fields...is that standard around the state or do a lot of schools share their soccer field with football?

Shout out school name and "Soccer Only Field" or "Shared Field"

I would say the ratio is 99 to 1 in favor of shared fields

I would say that it is closer to 50/50 or maybe 60/40.

In Region 9 it may be close to an even split. Highlands, NCC, St Henry, Holy Cross, Villa, and Cov Latin I think each all dedicated felds.

Region 7 seams to be mostly shared fields(which are in pretty bad shape). Some turf fields which makes it much nicer. Collegiate has soccer only fields, but they get used by clubs a bunch.

Schools that share fields, how is soccer and football practice scheduled?

Male, CAL, Eastern, Collegiate, and KCD all have their own fields. I do not believe St. Francis or Brown have football teams so they too may have their own fields. Closer to 60/40 I guess. St. X and Trinity play on their football fields but they have turf.

ADDING INFO.

In Bowling Green/Warren County, four out of five schools had a soccer only field until Warren Central put in turf to share football and soccer starting late last year. Warren East was the exception and continues that with their new turf field.

I know this is the boys soccer thread put you can add NDA's field, one the best facilities in KY by the way. Even though it is also used by lacrosse, HS lacrosse is a spring sport, so not technically shared. Their field is lined for both soccer and lacrosse, but no UGLY football lines.

2 of those 6 schools dont even have a field for their football team, and 3 of those schools dont have football, not really a fair comparison to the question.

Highlands is the only one of those that has their own football field so that's why the schools you list are on the list.

Other than Highlands which schools that have a football team have a separate soccer field?

Most, if not all Region 1 have soccer only field. Additionally McCracken lined turf football field to serve as additional soccer field.

All but one (Highlands, city school) of the schools mentioned in the 9th region, NCC, St Henry, Holy Cross, Villa, Cov Latin and NDA are private, parochial schools, used ZERO tax dollars to pay for their fields AND everything else by the way. Their fields are fully funded by capital campaigns. So "not really fair" can be discussed in many different ways.

Easy. You know what he meant. Not apples to apples comparison.

My aging memory says that if a NKY school has it's own football team using it's own football field then the soccer team uses it as well other than Highlands.

I am surprised by how many teams have their own soccer fields or at least the football field is turf so it is always in the same shape.
