  1. Deep middle was open all night and Nathaniel and Cam took incredible advantage of it. All three TDs were perfectly thrown. The passes across the middle to Cherry looked good. Throws in to the flats need work. Octavious and Damon can beat anyone down the field on any given play. They just have to get some more reps at reciever. I thought Damon looked good when he ran the ball. Bailey looked solid as well and so did Judd. We seemed to mix up the line personel and all of them looked solid. A little sluggish at times but man it was hot. Still much to work on, but all in all, we looked better in this grid than we did in last years. Game was far more lopsided than the score indicated. We are much faster this year and seem to hit harder as well. Hope the few from Bath that went down bounce back.
  2. Kind ofchat I expected with a panther win. Didnt expect the margin though. Nicholas County looks good and experinfed on paper. I didnt and dont expect Nicholas to be as good this year as they were last year.
  3. I think Adkins is the smarter option. Ashland is "rebuilding" by their standards without a real star in the backfield or anyone else that has the ability to win games on their own. Lets be honest, without Q, last years Tomcats would have lossed 3 or 4 of the games that they won. I know one guy cant do it by himself, but it was Q or bust. This year, it's going to take a more well rounded team. Adkins gives you a few years of a solid-very good QB. You have the skill guys, why not use them? Imk, this should have been the case for the last 10 years at Ashland. Very little to no verticle presence in the lassing game outside of Q. The loss of Brown this year is a big blow. Either of the two QBs will beed a RB to step up and lead the offense early on. Who are the guys going to be out of the backfield?
  4. I love it. I am a 3rd generation Raceland Alum, football player, and resident of Worthington. Very proud of it. My children will be the 4th generation of each as well. Something very unique about the school system. Originally two seperate elementary schools until they merged, I believe in the 70s? Maybe Rambler or Ram could give me a definite year. But the two communities have nearly always been one. Tied together by two things, a high school and the Railroad. Love seeing them both being paid respect in a very neat way. Those tracks have always been the boarder between the two towns, but never a wall. So many family names, pillars of the community, relied on the railroad. The Walkers have had several grace the tracks as well as the high schools, Ive said it once but I will say it again. There is something so special to me about a community, that can be so wrapped up in a football program, one that has never won a state championship, never seen a shot at playing a for a title, just won their first regional titles a few years ago. From the outside looking in, it may seem crazy, may seem unrealistic, or over the top to some, but its what and who we are, but I am so glad to have been apart of it and my kids to do the same.
  5. Alot of talk i am hearing is that the OL will consist of Mauk and Willett at gaurds, Tanner at Center, Dixon and Manis at Tackles. DL being Carmen and Manis at DE and Jerome Hall and Wallace at DT with Fairchild being the NG when we use a 5 man front. I know that has been the "goal" of camp. Now, there is no doubt in my mind that many of those roles will be rotated and interchanged at times. But it looks like several guys have stepped up and we should be really deep and fresh just about at all times upfront if all this is the case.
  6. Intersquad Scrimmage was tonight. It was OK. A few kids stood out to me, outside of the usual names. Morgan Carmen looks poised for a great year at DE. Mauk and Willet's offseason work looks to have paid off. Octavious Hall looked good in the slot and could be the WR we missed last year. All in all nothing looked too rough. Its hard to take much away from these things.
  7. There were several games from 2006-2008 that the Rams lost that they shouldnt have. Three games against LCA come to mind. Imo, those three teams were the best consecutive teams that Raceland has put on the field. 2013-2016 could possibly challenge that, but they will have to amend alot of things this season from last year to do so. Anyone hearing anything about special teams? Thats always a glaring spot for improvement.
  8. I spoke with Mike at the JFL camp, he said they had 70 on the pre-camp roster, including Freshman. I figure by the start up of the season that number should be about the same. Kind of rare at Raceland to see kids start the season, then drop before the season starts. Dont get me wrong, its happened. But for the most part, you either play football or you dont in Ram Country. Dont mean that in an errogant way or putting anyone down. So i figured between 65-70 by week 0. Hearing really good things out of the "big 3". Isaac, Jerome, and Morgan. But also hearing that the option of having some really solid rotation guys and guys pushing their way up the depth chart happening as well. Sounding more and more like we are finally goina be using this depth.
  9. Fan ase seems reflective of the team right now. Not alot of talk. Too much hype over the last few years has led to a lack of desire, imo. Team seems to be all business. Working their tails off. Aounding to me like some of the "bubble" guys upfront have given themselves a shot at starting positions. Not taking them away from former guys that started, but have earned them and it seems to shaping out in a way that the depth upfront will be used.
  10. Looking foward to what is hopefully a much better season this year. I think the changes that have been made will be very positive, we stay healthy and focused and the sky is the limit. In current news the annual highschool/JFL camp will start tomorrow at 6pm and Saturday at 10pm for those of u on here that have little ones. Flag-6th grade.
  11. How did Russell do/look in the Raceland 7 on 7?
  12. How'd it go yesterday and today?
  13. Goina be another tough out if your going up against Pikeville this year. They are my team to beat to win it all again this year. Raceland and Paintsville have the best shot at knocking them off. They will replace Pugh by commitee until about mid-3/4 of the way through the season. As the weather turns colder, look for the bruiser, Charles, to see a bulk of the carries. Bataille may be the best QB Pikeville has had since Maynard. And after all is said and done, may go down as one of, if not the best to play for the Panthers. Pikeville is my preseason number 1.
  14. Raceland Rams: At West Carter At Ashland East Carter Greenup Valley At Portsmouth West Lawrence County At Fairview Paintsville Russell I think i got the home/away sorted the right way. Just going off of where played last year. Ur thoughts any way?
  15. Their schedule will leave a bit of deception going into the post season. They will likely win their district and region. And compete to go to the carpet. Idk if they will have the same speed at the skill positions this year though, or that one guy who can put the team on his back. Russellville is my favorite in the west this year. But wont be suprised to watch a 5-5/6-4 NKY end up in BG.
  16. Theres alot of chatter going on here and there about Nicholas County this year. Many think they could potentially be the spoiler that Paintsville was to Pikeville in '14. They should be solid and they are most definitely NOT the same NC that was essentially a door mat that when they were still in Raceland's district.
  17. Its a shame someone on here cant give us any information on the Bulldogs...hahaha. Always on ur game there Bac!
  18. I figure to see alot of Wildcat stuff with Dalton. He may end up at QB and they run the option alot. Who steps in at QB if not? Who fills the departed RB spot? Alot of what ifs for the bulldogs imo. But, with a player like Timmy Dalton, they will win ballgames on his abilities alone. Question is, can they find him some support against the team Pond Creek, Corbin, or the "no one knows what to expect" Floyd Central. Going to be interesting to see what comes out onto the field for LC.
  19. If he works on his speed a little, Adkins has a very high ceiling. Reminds me alot of what Kash Daniel's looked like as a Frosh, but Adkins is a better "QB". Looks like he has studied the mechanics of the position, has a quick release, and good footwork. If Ashland develops their recievers, the Tomcats should be pretty explosive again offensively. Only through the air this time lol.
  20. Lots of QBs coming back. The numbers are hard to go off of, simply bc you dont have a comparison of how they did against stronger opponents. Would be easier if you could list Playoff numbers and how deep they went in the post season, along with a total win-loss record of their opponents. Id say that is alot to ask, but you've done this much so far lol
  21. Lot holes to fill. Lose a great QB/WR tandem. The McIntire kid is a tough and sure handed reciever and Ruggles a solid RB. But who is there to get them the football? Big shoes to fill for the incoming QB. What do they return upfront?
  22. Everyone said the same thing about Belcher and Hendrix in 2014. Against the better 1A teams, they were solid, but overall less than impressive, outside of Belcher's game against Pikeville when Paintsville had the insane turnaround from their previous match up that season. Its going to be an interesting year in 1A. Lots of teams with wholes to fill and what if's. I like Pikeville to win the east again though. Bataile is as poised and pure of a HS QB as I have seen in the last several years.
  23. Scott knows the spread inside and out, likes to throw, but likes to throw to set up the run as well. Scott is a smart coach and will use Greenup's experience and tallented jr and senior class to its full potential. Imo, Greenup's success will depend on the development of their line. Not strength, but stamina. If their DL had a little more depth in both the Raceland and Russell games, GC comes out on top. They just broke down in the end of the games. Greenup should be a solid football team again this year. Tough district, but im saying a 7-4/7-3 preseason prediction. I think they can beat Ashland and Russell, the Raceland game being a bit of a toss up right now. These Jrs and Srs in Greenup County schools have played alot of football with and against each other and there have been some incredible match ups. Cant wait for football season to start!
  24. Again, a bit of a shot in the dark. It will make them look very bright in years to come though.
  25. Imo its a statement to the caliber and program at Raceland. 3 high schools in Greenup County, different sizes, different rates and levels of succes, But one thing in common. Each HC has either played for or coached with BTR or Randy Vanderhoof, two have done both (played for and coached with Hoof). Proud of all three of these men.
