Lawrence County 2016

Featured Replies

What does Lawrence County need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

The Bulldogs will probably take a big step backwards next season. Just way too much production lost to graduation. Kiser, R. Dalton, Moseley, Schaeffer, Chaffins, Keesee, Richardson, and Ratliff are just some of the names that will be lost from a very talented, but underachieving, senior class.

Next year's offense should revolve around dynamic WR Timmy Dalton. He's one of the biggest playmakers in 3A. The question is... does Lawrence County have a QB waiting in the wings capable of stretching the field with Dalton like Grant Kiser did?

Not to mention, the Bulldogs will be breaking in a rookie Head Coach in 2016. Former Lawrence County great Alan Short takes over for the departing Joey Cecil.

There's a few question marks in Louisa right now, but sometimes the unknown can be exciting. Lawrence County's future may very well be bright, but I think they're in for a rebuilding year in 2016.

What he said!

I don't expect Lawrence County to be a bad team by any means, and they have one of the most dynamic players in the State in Timmy Dalton, but 2015 was their year to compete on a high level and replacing that many seasoned players will hurt.

If I am a betting man... I think you will see Coach Short make a strategic move. Knowing that Belfry and Corbin are going to be so strong I expect to see Short really push young players into the spotlight so he can build for the future.

I figure to see alot of Wildcat stuff with Dalton. He may end up at QB and they run the option alot. Who steps in at QB if not? Who fills the departed RB spot? Alot of what ifs for the bulldogs imo. But, with a player like Timmy Dalton, they will win ballgames on his abilities alone. Question is, can they find him some support against the team Pond Creek, Corbin, or the "no one knows what to expect" Floyd Central. Going to be interesting to see what comes out onto the field for LC.

Floyd Central wont join the District until 2017 BTW

Dalton is no longer with the team.

Any reason given?

I have seen it discussed and "confirmed" elsewhere. Just going off of that but there has been substantial discussion on it.

Any reason given?

From what I hear, and this is unsubstantiated, but it has to do with some type of altercation with the staff.

Dalton and the football team have been a bit of an up and down relationship the past few years where it was rumored he would only play basketball. Something came to a head this summer with the new coach and they dismissed him from the team.

As far as I know he plans to remain at Lawrence County but I anticipate will focus only on playing basketball unless something changes.
