Henry Clay vs. Covington Catholic State Finals
Just the fact that highlands, ryle, ncc, boone, and other 9th Region teams are not as good as previous years but still challenged CovCath to get out of the region... And now that CovCath team is beating a state semi-finalist 5-0. I feel last years 9th Region teams (CovCath included) were more talented and skilled than this years teams. IMO.

NCC vs Dixie
Congratulations to the NCC Seniors. Some great and better kids. I've had the opportunity to watch these students progress over time. No reason to hang your heads fellas. The first half was a NCC domination. I belief Grosser was needed for no more than 2 saves. NCC just couldn't score. A Dixie player made a goal line save before halftime keeping it 1-0. The second half was a different story. I'd give the edge to Dixie in the second half but it was about even. The speed of play picked up quite a bit. Dixie would attack 3 on 4 and NCC would attack 6 on 7. Dixie took the lead on two goals in the run of play. Grosser made some nice saves to keep it at that scoreline. NCC was then awarded a "gift" pk which leveled the scoreline at 2-2. ET presented great scoring opportunities but no goals. Dixie in PKs. Could Coach McDonald have made an impact? History thinks so. Is Coach Martin to blame? Absolutely not. Overall, Dixie played more enthusiastic. I think someone forgot to tell the Thoroughbreds it was regional time.

Is Newport Central Catholic getting a 7 Footer from out of town?
Having been associated with the NCC staff and new principal, I have a huge amount of confidence that the enrolment of the young man is not just for a basketball gain.

Or NCC takes on the task of teaching this young man. If this man was 5'10 and had no athletic ability, I can guarantee the staff at NCC would still take the man. Maybe not everything is about themselves, maybe NCC is just taking on it's role as a Catholic school..... Just a thought.

Who Is Cooper's new assistant coach? And I see Highlands having a good year.

Soccerama Update
I love Geiman's game. A physical presence in the mid field is (IMO) very important to dictating how a game will be played.

Bornhoeffer was a great coach, but everything out of his team. He just never made any noise cone region play, as much as McDonald did with his team. I'm not trying to question Bornhoeffers legitimacy.

NCC has Liles up top. Finds himself in the right spot at the right time a lot. Not very fast, not very big, not very technical. I believe NCC should play Muck up top. They don't have the talent to control the ball and game, so their best chance will be to Have their best player up top to possibly beat a few players and score. No other scoring threats I know of. A good chance for some players to step up and make a name for themselves and their school.

Then I am afraid you are not achieving your goal.

I completely agree. Embarrassing and tarnishing the NCC name

I feel you are a very recent graduate who didn't have the best relationship with your coach. Bottom line, McDonald took NCC from Being a "joke" team, to a region contending team. Always got his team prepared for the post- season. That's indisputable.

NKY Soccer Preview
Region titles have been spread around the last 6 years. I feel NCC has been the most consistent team the last 6 years. Making the regional championship game in 2010-2013. Overlooked is a fair statement for the breds, but I'm afraid that consistency and constant competitive edge will drop off due to a lack of talent. Being a top 3 team is not realistic for this year's NCC team

Which 2015 teams do you see as having a "rebuilding" year?
I disagree. A small school like NCC depends on a few star players with an average supporting cast. This year, NCC has a rising star in Muck. Not much after that. Defense Will struggle, offense Will struggle. The only consistency I see them having Will be the coaching and keeping. Brian Anderson will start in between the pipes this year. Ending the dynasty of Grossers. Anderson allowed 2 goals in his sophomore year on JV. Athletic and impressive keeper. As for the new coach, Jeff Martin is a "go hard" coach. He won't shy away from a challenge, and neither will his team, but the lack of depth and star players for NCC will lead to a below average year for the thoroughbreds.
