UHA is the biggest factor I don't deny that but having to play within their own district was another complaint as well. I'm saying I would hate that as well. As far as the boycott against UHA, I can see where they are coming from there too. The All A wasn't made for programs like that.

This may finally be the year that they can get through Henderson County. If they don't do it this year they won't for a long time. Preseason number 2 in my book with the region's best returning player.

They lost several seniors but return a great group of young kids. They may be in somewhat of rebuild mode this year but the future looks good.

No it's saying we don't think it's logical to enter a tournament where more than half of the field is our own district. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want 1/3 of my schedule to come from district opponents either. It limits the number of different teams that can play to prepare for the postseason.

Top 5 in the region this season but the region is really just a two horse race in my opinion. They return the Eaves kid that is really good and a few other role players that are nice. The transfer from Hopkins County Central was a big addition. I saw him play twice last season. A really gifted athlete but his performance is very streaky.

3rd place in their district and not even close to challenging for 2nd.

Well none of those teams are beating UHA or Caldwell County so I say good move on their part. I would say they are all happier with the flexibility in scheduling.

I know the top 6 are right with maybe shuffling a few teams here and there. The only surprise to me when I read the top 10 was Hopkins County Central at number 10. They were very up and down last season. They would beat a good team one night and lose to a bad team the next. I know they had several seniors and lost their best returning player to Madisonville-North Hopkins. Surely there is a better team in the region to put in the number 10 spot.

This was already discussed in another thread last spring. Someone posted gym capacities and I think Hopkins County Central held 3500. I've been in their gym a few times over the last couple years and it is plenty big enough to host a region tournament. Definitely a better site than Union County was last year. I went one night and one night only because of that mess.

I don't think the schools electing not to participate are missing out on anything. They are all from the same district and just end up getting an extra district game or two in most years. I understand their reasoning for not wanting to participate.

Am I the only person that hates the limitation to only KABC Region POY's?

They will be competitive in their district but will struggle against teams outside of the district that aren't class A schools. They will have to beat out Crittenden County to get to region but will lose in the opening round if they do.

The loss of their top 2 players from a year ago shouldn't set them back too much. I expect them to stay in the 2nd tier of teams in the 4th region.

Sebree will explode at the next level. I think his best basketball is still ahead of him if he works and stays humble.

You're right they did lose a lot, but it was 4 of their top 7 not 5. I just checked last year's roster. I didn't realize Deja Turner was a senior. I thought she was a junior like McClendon. Losing Deja Turner and Ally Mayhaus will really hurt, but I think the others can be easily replaced. I really like McClendon and Tucker and think they will play bigger roles this year. You're most likely right about them being in the lower part of the top 5. I'm not a 9th region expert and I'm sure you know more than I do about the programs up there.

I only got to see them play 1 regular season game, twice at the 2nd region tournament last season and I watched them play 2 games this summer. They are one of my favorite teams to watch play. The way they press reminds me a lot of Pitino's early Kentucky teams and VCU the last few years. They are in your face the entire game. I think they lost a couple senior guards that were pretty good but they return a lot. I think they will be in the region semifinals again this year.

They are my dark horse to make it to the region finals. I liked the talent that they had on the roster last year and they return nearly everyone this year. The only team in the region that has better size than Henderson County and they use it well on the boards. Nice guards that are better than you might expect. They were much better than 8 wins last season. They have all the tools but team discipline was a major issue last season. If the new coach can bring them together they could be a tough team to deal with this season. All that being said, it is definitely possible than win 10 games or less if discipline and heart are issues again.

I believe they will return to state but I don't believe they will repeat. Elizabethtown has fell short two years in a row. I just don't see them doing it again and I can't see Holy Cross beating them again if they have to play them at state.

That is the first team that came to my mind was Madisonville. I think they will be better than they were a year ago. Hopkins Central is another team that really surprised me last year. I was really hoping they would beat Webster so I could watch the two pressing teams go at it. Hopkinsville is my team to watch. A lot of potential on their roster but there is very little discipline in the program. I'd be surprised if Union gets by Webster. The Thompson girl is going to be very hard to replace.

Who do you think has the best chance to break their streak of region titles? I agree they should still win the region but I still like to pick out a few dark horses.

They lost a lot of talented seniors but still return some key players from last year's rotation. The thing about big schools like Henderson County is they don't rebuild. If the big girl, Alisha Owens, is fully recovered from her knee injury I expect them to be the 2nd region favorite again. I will say that the gap between Henderson County and the rest of the top 5 teams will be smaller than it has been in several years.

I don't believe they are as good as last year but they will still make a run for a state championship. No one else in the 5th region should come close.

I don't have a problem with only 2 scrimmages. I actually think the way Kentucky governs basketball, regarding number of games and the limitation of season, is spot on. My kids used to go to school and play in Clarksville, Tennessee before we moved back across the line. Down there practices can't start until the week of November 1st and the first game is usually 2 weeks later.

A solid team last season despite what their record suggests. They unfortunately share a district with 3 of the best teams in the region (South Warren, Bowling Green, Warren Central). Not to mention how solid the 4th region was in general last season. I do expect them to be a little better than last season but it would take a major upset for them to make it to region.

I really thought they would come out of the 3rd region last season. Even though they lost Stewart, this year it could be theirs to win but it will be tough. I believe any one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the 3rd could make it out.
