Basketball season for 2015/2016 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Hopkinsville. Remember, please be constructive.

A lot of Hoptown homers will tell you that this team is supposed to be better than last year. I just find that hard to believe and I really think Christian County has better talent this year. That being said the region belongs to Hoptown until someone decides to take it from them.

I agree with you. From what I've seen it looks like Hoptown has a tougher schedule than christian county. That could help the Tigers at the end of the season. I expect the cross town games to be similar to the Hoptown and Henderson games last year.

Since this is Hoptown's thread I will comment on their team. This will be the tallest Tiger team in quite a while. Atilola brings a presence down low at 6'8 and from my understanding has made huge improvements and is a very teachable player. Johnson and Hennigan have both taken a leadership role on the team that was left when Matlock graduated. Both are excellent players and they will have to lead well for this team to make it to a 5th sweet 16 in a row. Shorty Cager maybe the quickest point guard in the state, but needs to understand how to stay under control.

 

I think Hopkinsville steams rolls most of the teams they play this year, but again they have a pretty challenging schedule outside of region 2 play including an early season home game against Bowling Green, and the end the season at Owensboro and Taylor County. They have also accepted an invitation to play at Christ Presbyterians Next Level Hoopsfest in December with Ballard.

 

I think Christian County has the better known talent, and rightfully so. Sebree and Edwards are two of the most dynamic players in their classes. They are exciting to watch. Hoptown has some developing talent that in the end could also be some of the best in their classes (Johnson, Hennigan, Cager, Atilola).

 

I think Christian County puts a better starting 5 on the floor, but the Hopkinsville may be the deeper team. I do believe the games this year will be the best they have been in a while, and I am going to make the call that they split the season games and they will split the district/region finals. I'm not making the call yet on who will go to the S16. We will see how both teams develop. Lots of talent in the Hopkinsville area (UHA's Hollowell too)

Shorty Cager is the best name for a point guard I have ever heard.

Will be fast and run and press, will make a lot of mistakes but will make you play the full 32 minutes. This is a top 3 team in the region but will have to beat the crosstown rival this year to go back to Rupp.

They'll win their region. They play hard and play together. Haworth does a great job. Christian Co has a lot of talent, but that talent has to mesh.

Region should be good this year, where will it be played? Last year was in Union correct? A terrible place to get to and from? Parking terrible, hope it is in a better place this year!

It should be at either Hopkinsville or Madisonville. Not sure which. Bigger gyms with better parking and easier to get to then Union. The region will be very interesting this year. Can't wait for high school basketball.

I believe this year will be in Madisonville.

This was already discussed in another thread last spring. Someone posted gym capacities and I think Hopkins County Central held 3500. I've been in their gym a few times over the last couple years and it is plenty big enough to host a region tournament. Definitely a better site than Union County was last year. I went one night and one night only because of that mess.

Sad the Hoptown and County will have to play at Hopkins Central for a shot to go to state, nothing to do there and no where to eat............................................
