I like the enthusiasm of this group. Glad you guys are not on the schedule! :thumb: -
Gippy Graham was the basketball coach at Boyle County when my Dad was the football coach and was a very good friend to my Dad. Great family.

Bermuda surface. It is the same guy that took care of our field at Mason, and we are 2 hours further south. The surface should be very good. -

Yes. I got to talk to Coach today. He is the Patriarch of football in our community. Our stadium looks great and bears the name of a great man who gave so much to the kids here over a very long period of time. :thumb: -
We play at Alvis Johnson this year. It looks great!

Thanks for sharing this. We have got to develop more kids and get kids excited at an earlier age. We only had six seniors in 2015. Mike Floro and his MS Staff do a great job and I am glad my youngest son gets to play for those guys. Joe Fister and his staff have been very good in making these adjustments for Youth Football. We're making progress and we also know we have much work still to be done.

A lot of that going around. I was surprised at the report that says football numbers are up. That is not what I am hearing from others. Good luck to the Rebels this fall.

If you had a choice, would you vote for the Vice Presidential candidates over the top of the ticket? Both choices appear to be good ones. Thoughts?

We hosted an OTA here yesterday and the Royals looked good. I really like their team and what the staff is doing with these kids. They are like most of the rest of us, they are thin and really need to stay healthy. But, if they can do that, they will have a nice football team. Go Royals! :thumb:

I don't understand the concept of an interim coach in KY public HS athletics. We all are on one year contracts. All they have to say is "we think we can find a better coach", and let us go. Can someone explain the difference in an interim coach and the rest of us?

To address your posts/questions.... Tanner Robins is playing and we are excited to have him. He is a fast/talented athlete and outstanding young man as well. We do have one injury issue but it should be resolved by the time the season starts. I don't like commenting too much on injuries. http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-football-high/reporting-of-injuries-192702.html Our kids have been working hard and without a doubt we must be a vastly improved football team when we play Central Hardin. We know they are very good. I am crazy about our kids and staff and I like the direction we are going. We are more than aware that we have a lot to work on. But, the way the 2015 team ended the season will go a long way in helping us build our program. That team was outstanding in the way they kept the wheels on through 0-5 and continuing to fight for each other. I will always be thankful for and appreciate the 2015 team and those seniors.

Eddie would do a good job also. They have built a good program.

If Dennis Ledford is still on staff, he would be a great choice as head coach if Chris is unable to continue. Two very good football coaches.

Public Schools: Tuition and Scholarships
ChiefSmoke replied to ATLCat's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think I heard this right from an administrator about a KY public school system.... They reduced tuition for students to transfer in with higher test scores. The rationale being that getting those kids in your school gives you a better school. -
Yes. That and the heat stuff. And, there are many more options for kids today and most of them are not near as tough as playing football.
-
Yes, they are. Getting tougher to get kids out and keep them out.

I took my son, a Linebacker, to camps at UK (Chuck Smith), Tennessee (Sal Sunseri), & Notre Dame (Bob Diaco). All 3 camps were 3-day camps and they were work camps. Those 3 guys worked his tail off. At Tennessee, he had to compete against really fast guys that thought they were too slow to play DB in college. At Notre Dame, he had to compete against guys that thought they were too small to play DL in college. Very different experiences. All 3 camps pushed him, but I think having to run with the fast guys at Tennessee in that heat/humidity was the toughest. The instruction in all 3 was very good. His camp experience was to get better as a player. He was not trying to get recruited. But, we enjoyed the trips to Knoxville & South Bend. Being a coaches' son, I wanted him to be somewhere that they did not know him and he would have an experience like any other player. Chuck was probably a little tougher on him because he knew that is what I wanted. Sunseri & Diaco got after him just because that was how they were. It was a great experience for both of us and it helped him as a player. I have had alot of guys go to the Georgetown 3-day camp and say it was really good. We have some of our guys going there this year. -
Another thing that we did that gave our guys better times was the VOLUME of 40s that we would run. We had weightclass and took one day a week in the spring and ran a bunch of them. If you run 4 or 5 40s once a week over 5-6 week period, you will have ONE time that you run a 40 that is very good. That was the 40 we would use. Yes, we let them know it was hand timed. :isurrender:
