  1. Ok, that went a little too far. They were just told to put air back into the ones that didn't have enough air in them. The conversation turned into having the state supply all footballs for every high school game. That idea quickly went south due to regulations and how to supervise.
  2. I was just thinking, in a game like that it might come down to a kick. I would think that they would want as much air as possible. They actually had to put more air in at least two footballs.
  3. I'm not saying it had any impact on the game whatsoever. I just thought it was a good conversation piece.
  4. Did anyone know that Johnson central was told the put air in their footballs after halftime? No joke, one of the officials told me the other day.
  5. I would the Cats work on some passing for the Tates Creek game. Doing this now will help for the playoffs. Teams are going to come in with 8 or 9 in the box and dare us to throw. JC had 9 and sometimes 10 in the box. I couldn't believe they didn't play a safety, 90% of the night.
  6. Our passing defense will have to be on point this week. GW exposed our weaknesses almost every other play. Granted that was earlier in the season, however, with Baker getting more reps in the defensive backfield, that has sured up some protection. I believe the only way Ashland will lose this game is if we have break downs in the secondary. I don't know much about TCs defense, but I don't believe they will be able to stop Baker. Ashland 35 Tates Creek 20
  7. Sure is. He's a heck of a back. It does look good for the future of Tomcat football.
  8. He can definitely throw the ball. I think he only missed a couple of receivers last night, and they were balls that could have been caught. Very efficient. Ratliff wasn't even there. Not sure if he was sick or what. Going to the Manning Camp is impressive.
  9. Did Boyd have their starting qb in? He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance a couple of weeks ago during the Ashland/Boyd JV game.
  10. I'll just say this, I don't know what Dave's thinking. :ohbrother:
  11. Welcome to Bluegrasspreps, Eightdigits.
  12. I don't know what they feed those boys down there, but whatever it is, needs to make its way to Ashland.
  13. I've seen them both play. They both have their own skill sets, Ratliff is a better runner, Adkins is better passer.
  14. I don't know about 250. Spread it around well. Offensive line blew open hole after hole. Tackett and Coburn ran all over their defense. Greenup's qb had some issues with picks. His line had trouble with our blitzing linebackers. Adkins looks to be an in the pocket qb. Got outside a couple time and made some good throws with presser. Adkins has nothing on Ratliff running the ball. Heaberlin had a great td run. Shook off a couple of tackles for a 40 yard score. Kruger had some monstrous sacks late in the game. He might have his dad and uncle's speed, not sure.
  15. Final. Strong showing by the JV team in their last game of the season.
  16. I still think that they should have tried for the field goal on 4 and 4. I know it was still early in the game, but you got to try to get points whenever possible. As well, in the 4th qtr, they should have attempted it. I've seen the kid kick numerous times, he's got the leg for it. JMO.
  17. Didn't mean to repost. ^^^
  18. I don't know about O'Brian, but I'm sure it was a lot. He was all over the place. Dowdy proved last night that he can take a hit. Impressive. He's such a good kid too.

  20. I predicted a 1 point game. I just didn't think it would be that low. If you are a defensive minded person, this was the game for you. Two great defensive teams that let the other team come up with one big play a piece. Hopefully we can return the favor in a couple of weeks down in Paintsville.
  21. Great game, great atmosphere. Ashland was the better team IMO. Contras to JC. Both teams played outstanding defense. The chip shot field goal from the 4 is a must in a game like this. You need to take the points whenever you can. Granted, he might have missed it, but we'll never. Final should have been 10-8. JMO.
  22. I'm here. I'm the guy in the maroon shirt and ashland hat.
  23. Holy crap!!!!! Baker is the man!!!!
  24. Ashland should have went for a field goal on 4 and goal from the 4. In a game like this, you need all the points you can. Even if e missed it, it still wouldn't have mattered.
