Johnson Central 44 Cabell Midland, WV 8 (JV)

Final score. 1st Q was close, JC dominated the rest of the way.

This bodes well for the immediate future of JC football. Who are some names to look out for in the next year or two?

Many good players and i would not do it justice trying to name them (I would likely leave many off). This group of Sophomores won back to back KYMSFA State Championships in Middle School (7th grade then 8th Grade large division). One name to look for is Joe Jackson (Freshman RB who is also the reigning Middle School State Wrestling Champion).

Your right though, the future looks bright for the Golden Eagles as they did not play a few of those Sophomores as they start on Varsity (i.e. DE/FB Tyrese Allen)

JC and Midland Varsity's need to play next year.

They both tried to work it out, but with current contracts next year will be impossible. Look for this game two years from now though as they have scrimmaged each other the past 2 or 3 years and just added the JV game this year.

Something interesting is in the works as you may see a home-home between JC and Cov. Cath the next two years (with JC on the road next year under the lights at Cov Cath for the first time). This is very very close to getting done and would be a great match-up.

I agree the Midland game would be nice, but if the Cov Cath deal gets done, JC will have them in week 1 and Lex Cath in Week 2. To go along with the annual Ashland and Belfry game, JC could have a tough schedule next season.

Midland could replace Lex Cath after that contract expires (if it is not renewed).

Kids were tough in middle school I remember. JC may own 4A the next few years

JC guys, is this the WV team Belfry played earlier this year?

Same school, yes.

I don't know what they feed those boys down there, but whatever it is, needs to make its way to Ashland. :)

Well that is no small feat! Would think this could be a good rivalry going forward!

From the outside looking in, it looks like JC may be dominant in the near future. Cabbell Midland would be an excellent series for JC. Back when there was talk about how hard it has been for JC to fill their schedule without playing teams in PA, etc, I mentioned that they should try to work something out with one of the large Huntington or Charleston schools.

I used to be pretty hard on JC for their schedule, or lack of I should say. But it does appear that they are trying. Hopefully, they are able to work something out with Cabbell.

Good points JD! If you want to win the championship, IMO you need to be tested during the season so you can make adjustments then so it's not deer in the headlights time when you play teams in the playoffs that punch you in the mouth!

I'll be watching for the JC/Ashland rematch from over here on my side of the state. Know that will be a good one again!
