  1. After the 1st quarter, ND looked like an entirely different team, especially on offense. You feel bad for Wimbush, but it has to be Book at QB going forward, based on today's performance.
  2. 5 - Trinity 3 - Pikeville 3 - Christian Academy Louisville 1 - Corbin 1 - Raceland 1 - Caldwell County 1 - Owensboro Catholic 1 - Covington Catholic 1 - Hopkinsville 1 - Glasgow TB - 57
  3. 7 - Belfry 5 - Campbell County 3 - Conner 2 - Highlands 1 - Corbin TB - Campbell County
  4. FSU's o line is getting destroyed...they've got a lot of talent on offense, but can't block anybody
  5. The SEC "This means more" commercials...so dumb. I can't change the channel fast enough.
  6. Nice game from the Irish D. Wimbush does his thing. Playcalling got very conservative in the 4th Quarter, but a win is a win.
  7. I know he's dealing with cramps, and ND's D is going to be pretty good this year, but Shea Patterson just isn't that good. Not a guy who's going to elevate the play of the guys around him.
  8. 7 Beechwood 5 Scott County 3 Bishop Brossart 2 Campbell County 1 Grant County TB Scott County
  9. Central went to semi state last year. I know its traditionally not the case, but they're probably the best team in Evansville this year.
  10. 1993...Notre Dame hosted Boston College for the last regular season game, a week after beating Florida State in a 1 vs. 2 "game of the century" matchup. BC took a big lead, and then the Irish stormed back, scoring 3 TDs in the last 10 minutes, to take the lead...only to lose on a BC field goal, as time expired. Pretty sure that was the last time I cried about a sporting event. Definitely cost them the 93 title (even though they still should have won it). A close second would be USC in 2005, when Matt Leinart hit a pass down the left sideline on 4th and 9 from their own 30, with less than a minute to go. This is the infamous "Bush Push" game. If ND would have won that game, it would have completely changed the trajectory of the program. I was very sad.
  11. Sweet Potato anything...especially casserole. I've had "grandma's famous homemade sweet potato casserole"...but I still just cannot handle the texture. Same thing for cobbler.
  12. 7 - Beechwood 5 - Simon Kenton 3 - Campbell County 2 - Scott 1 - Bellevue TB - Simon Kenton
  13. 5 - Warren Central (IN) 3 - Huntington (WV) 3 - DeSales 1 - Meade County 1 - Graves County 1 - Lexington Christian 1 - Somerset 1 - Reitz (IN) 1 - North Hardin 1 - Corbin TB - 47
  14. Warren Central is a handful, always has some great athletes, and probably produces more high level prospects than any high school in Indiana. This is one of the better teams they've had since the mid 2000's, when they were an absolute force of nature, and probably the best high school team I've ever seen, including one year when they ran for almost 600 yards in the state title game. That said, with this one at Trinity, it should be a great game.
  15. 5 Manual 3 Frederick Douglass 3 Mayfield 1 Carmel (IN) 1 Caldwell County 1 South Warren 1 Monroe County 1 Scott 1 Christian Academy of Louisville 1 Owensboro TB - 34
  16. 7 Campbell County 5 Highlands 3 Covington Catholic 2 Scott 1 Ludlow TB Highlands
  17. I think they're at least a couple years away, but a team that needs to get back towards the top is Nebraska. College football is better when they're in the mix.
  18. Expecting 9 or 10 wins for ND, but still not sure about the level of QB play. Away to USC & VT is daunting. Home to Michigan, Stanford, & FSU look difficult, although FSU coming to South Bend in mid-November seems like good timing. Away to Northwestern could be tricky, though half the crowd will be Irish fans. My other team, Virginia Tech, probably in the same neighborhood, as far as wins. However, they have had A LOT of injuries, dismissals, and offseason issues on the defensive side of the ball. Should be a fun season to follow.
  19. Check that...it was a state quarterfinal. Beat Arlington on most first downs in 1987, and then beat Arlington again in State Quarterfinal on penetrations in 1995.
  20. I'm almost positive that Odessa Permian won a state title based on the penetrations rule back in the 80's. What a way to lose a state title!
  21. Good call on Nebraska...along with Miami, the top program in the 80's and 90's. Another school that used to be a great job, and now you forget they even have a team...Colorado. Feel like all of the real destination jobs have pretty much been mentioned. What programs could become that type of job in the near future? I would say Texas A&M could get close to that territory. UCLA might have a shot, though they're probably always going to play second fiddle to USC.
  22. I'm wondering if the teams being on the opposite sides is due to the sun. Especially during early season games, the sun is brutal on the west-facing visiting team/home fans side. Perhaps SK didn't want to have the sun in their eyes. I still agree with everyone else that it's a horrible idea, but maybe that's a legitimate reason.
  23. I can provide a little info on some Indiana teams...Fort Wayne Dwenger, who is East Central's opponent in the 4A game, has a stout defense. Should be a pretty good game, but I would say Dwenger is a bit of a favorite. Dwenger is the alma mater of Tyler Eifert. Snider vs. New Palestine last night was one for the ages for sure. Snider is where a pretty decent CB named Rod Woodson played back in the day. In general, Fort Wayne has produced some high level talent through the years. Woodson, Eifert, current stud LB at Notre Dame, Jaylon Smith, Rush DE for the Cowboys, Anthony Spencer, RB at Stanford, Remound Wright. 6A game is Center Grove vs. Penn. As previously mentioned, Center Grove is a machine. Ranked top 10 nationally in USA Today, for whatever that's worth. They are the rare big school that still runs and succeeds with a Wing-T offense. Very strong team that has beaten everyone in Indy this year: Carmel, Cathedral, Warren Central, Ben Davis. Penn was a powerhouse in the 80's & 90's, but hasn't been able to compete with the Indy schools lately. They have a stud QB who is going to Harvard next year. He is the X-factor in the game that can give Penn a shot at the win. Overall, Center Grove is probably a 10-14 point favorite. 2A game is Monrovia vs. Whiting. I don't know much about these schools, other than Monrovia runs the good ol' Belly offense like a champ. Had over 500 yards rushing in semi-state. Monrovia is the favorite in this one.
