Congrats Jake, Southern Illinois offered him. Congrats to the Raiders OL coaches. Jake will be the 6th D1 Olineman in 7 years coming out of Ryle. Coach Greg Ryan and Coach Jon Perron can really develop some beef !!!

Justin Doleman may be one of the most successful out of the 9th Region. Great College career and one of the higher paid players in Europe.

4 kids better than him? I believe Rankin was an all Region player. Where those 4 kids all region?? The kid played half a season with a softball sized ankle and still averaged close to 20 and 8 per. I would bet he starts and some of those 4 would transfer out.

Agreed, but it seems like UC, UL, UK don't like offering local kids. Pretty sure they feel that they only have to offer walk on spots to local kids. Now if they are 4 star, different story. AJ will do very well at Miami and may compete for the job early. I believe they got a grad transfer in from Michigan, but let's face it, he's transferring for a reason. Maybe he didn't play much up there in Ann Arbor.

I just finished this process after going through it for 3 yrs. I think you can start when your a Freshman, but I really feel (and confirmed but college coaches) that players are way too under developed at that age to get noticed. You can however get noticed after the Sophomore season. My son got his 1st offer after his Sophomore season. Also case in point, super stud Soph Michael Mayer did after his Soph Season started to blow up quickly. But they are not all Super Sophs. Really have to be realistic about what Division you think your kid can play. Spend your time wisely at those camps. Try to hit camps that are D1 schools that allow other D2 and D3 schools to attend their camps. UC used to do this, but the new regime put a stop to that. My son got his 1st offer from Toledo after they saw him at UC. I really believe camps and Timely Hudl films are the biggest part. Parents have to email the Hudl links out to college coaches at least twice per year. Mid season and End of season. Start right after bowl season. Recruiting services are a waste of money, college coaches will find your kid if he’s got the talent and/or potential. Let’s face it, they are college coaches for a reason. Recruiting services are not college coaches for a reason, right? But leg work by the parent is essential and off season work outside of the high school weight room is essential for the player. Speed and Agility training is a must. Toledo offered him at 16 because he ran a 4.8 40 at 6’3” 260 lbs. Furthermore, if he does get an offer, he realistic on what his potential is after that. I feel we wasted too much time chasing a Power 5 offer after getting a Mid Major offer. Feel free to private message me, I’d be happy to share more, even a chit chat if necessary.

Couldn’t be more proud for Jake. Glad to have watched him and have my son Block for him since 7th Grade.

No doubt in my mind that he will be a top rated TE in the nation by the end of his Junior Year. As a 10th grader, he has the build of a 12th grader. Let's play a game. Let's assume he will be highly rated. Where does he end up? He's gonna have his choice. Does he do what every Catholic School kid dreams of and moves to South Bend? I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls an offer from Tight End U from Miami (FL).

I'm not a basketball genius, but I don't see huge rebound numbers and haven't for a few years. No second chance opportunites or limiting oppents second chance opportunities. I think rebounding is pure toughness and willing to go get big and strong inside and get position. Rankin is a stud, he can bang low and go high and drive strong. The Benton kid seems to only play outside. The tallest kid isn't in position to rebound. He's not big and beefy, but he is certainly long enough to rebound.

I would agree, he is a top player. He is a big, but can play small. Go back to his ankle injury. It's been a factor since prior to December. A really bad high ankle sprain. How do you think the other Top players in the region would perform on a high ankle sprain. Great numbers despite.

Just to be clear, they haven’t pulled the offer. Just Contemplating in when to bring him in as a scholarship athlete. Right away or the 2nd semester is his Freshman year

my 2 cents, depending on the Level (D1 FBS/FCS or D2) then this could be construed as a Walk on sport (preferred or non preferred) If it is D3, then it's non scholarship. D3 will work through Financial aid through educational scholarships, grants, etc.

yes, he was offered after his Soph season, Committed June before his Senior season. They just delayed the signing to the Normal Feb Signing date.

He was recruited by Mid Major D1 (MAC, Conf USA, American) and Big 10 and SEC on a very limited Basis. Had offers from the MAC and Conf USA, EKU and Murray State. PWO from Louisville. He commited to Toledo, but they are in an over signing situation and have some Seniors that they want to bring back for a 5 year. A whole bunch of factors went into them not signing him during early signing period on 12/21. They have every intention on signing him on 2/7 but may or may not consider a Grey shirt. If so, he will not be a scholarship athlete until Spring Semester 2019. (not ideal, but not end of the world). He tore his labrum (shoulder dislocations) in the 1st game this past season vs Cov Cath. Sat out 3 games, came back for 3 more, then shut it down for surgery so he could be cleared before College camp starts late June. The 3 games he came back, his shoulder dislocated just about every other play. Would just go in and out on its own. Hard to complain about this process but it still is an opportunity nonetheless. Level heads prevail, right?

We verbally committed my son, but unfortunately he was hit with an injury bug. Had to have some surgery. Schools don't like bringing kids in to recover on the clock. So they like to delay their eligibility as much as possible. Give them time to recover, Physical Therapy. Then give them an extra year on the back end of their college career when they are obviously playing their best football. I get it. Just a hard pill to swallow for a 17 year old kid.

An offer is just that an offer. Means nothing until December 21st or Feb 7th. Maybe even later with “Over Signings” and Grey Shirts. I’m learning this the hard way.

Brohn's recruited Mayer and Butler. They also recruited Bisek and Selby from Ryle. All attended Junior day at the same time. I also say Matt Shearer at their Camp, but not sure if he was recruited.

Elite coaches in College vs high school are apples and oranges, in some situations. Yes, execution, buy in, etc. But the main difference is that an Elite HS coach has to be in it for the players, first and foremost. They are not getting paid like college coaches. So if a HS coach is in it for the pay check or his record, he is obviously looking for the next gig. If a HS coach is kid first, then buy in and all the others eventually may fall into place. Just my opinion.

Very difficult to play high school football in WI. Badgers really only recruit OL and TEs from Wisconsin High Schools. They go to Jersey for Running Backs. Always have since Alvarez has been with the program. Only D1 school in the state. Kids are forced to play D3 or move far from home.

Really bummed we couldn’t go see this game and support our man Chiz. Glad he got Team KY on the board. Sad that his Ryle teammate couldn’t play, but happy they found a replacement from NKY

My son had the opportunity of playing with him in Middle school in both Football and Basketball. Good kid, good family. His success at Scott Cty absolutely comes as NO surprise. I do hope that he does get an opportunity to play on Saturdays, he deserves it. Wishing for the best for the Davis Fam.
