Cruise Control was referring to Clays effort , they was just coasting through the game, No effort out of a lot of players for long stretches. Knott did play well and very hard.

Clay takes care of business but looked like they had it on cruise control for most of night. Still not playing to there potential. Must play better Friday against Perry Central to win. Blake Smith led all scorers with 22 pts, 8-13 fg, and 5 asst Wes Wolfe had 16 pts 6-12 fg, 4 reb Trey Farmer 9 pts, 2-12 fg, 9 reb.

Mercer is for real, no questions about it, i think they have as good s chance as anyone cutting down the nets. Ive seen 15 of the top 20 and they are as good as anyone ive seen

Refs was a non factor, called a pretty decent game, a very physical game but was some what consistent. Never made an attempt to take it from Boyle.

NOBODY on the team should take 30 fg attempts a game, this includes Smith,Farmer, Wolfe, or the rest. Especially when a third of those where bad shots. If you eliminated the 8-10 bad shots im fine with it. Like said above 30 fg attempts from one player is not conducive for winning games. And i agree Smith was off last night, he missed his normal shots. But in order for Clay to win and play at a high level they must pass the ball. I watch them on a daily basis, and last night was terrible, 3 asst for the game, by far worst of the year.

Farmer took way too many shots, and way too many BAD shots, and when i say bad i'm talking 27-30ft shots. He if he keeps taking that many shots Clay doesnt have a chance against good teams. Like i said Clay played terrible, Elkins did effect things some, but bottom line Blake Smith got his jumper all night and they where in and out, he just had a bad night shooting as did the team as a whole. Boyle played harder, wanted it more, and beat Clay. Clay gave up way too many open 3's out of junk defenses.

Congrats to Boyle, out played and coached Clay in every aspect. Clay stunk the gym up couldn't throw one in the ocean. Nice win, Boyle shoots the 3 really well.

ALL you have to do is look at Les's latest rankings and that will tell you all you need to know. South Laurel didn't play a game last week but they received the longest write up of any team in the region explaining details of games from the previous week. He has absolutely no credibility anymore. He runs his little 13th region facebook thread and if you disagree with anything he says he kicks you off.

Refs, where terrible, they called 12 fouls on Clay in the last 3 mins while allowing Corbin to get away with murder. Clay is 20 points better on a neutral floor any night. Corbin kids plays as hard as anyone , they just dont have the talent this year. And Coach P gets the most out of them, but if you dont think the refs closed the gap in this one you need to take off those rose colored glasses

Clay wins the Cumberland Falls Invitational over Corbin. Clay had a 20 point lead with 3 minutes to go and the refs decided to make things really interesting, either way Clay dominates the game. Trey Farmer leads clay with 18 and named MVP. Blake Smith, Wes Wolfe, Logan Gabbard and Will Sexton named all tournament.

Clay wins a ugly game where they played absolutely terrible. If you would have told me that Clay would beat any team by 12 with both Smith and Farmer not reaching double figures I would have told you, that you was crazy. Whitley took the air out of the ball and looked content to not get ran out of gym. This was Clays 2nd lowest point total in 3 years. They really lost interest in game the way WC was playing. Wes Wolfe carried CC tonight. Clay advances to Championship game to face Corbin on there home floor. I expect a close game tomorrow night.

Good teams find a way to win even on off nights. Great comeback by Mercer.

After last night i would add Lovan from Franklin Simpson to my number 4 spot and drop Taylor and Jackson down.

3Pt shooting Clay County 2-8 Franklin Simpson 6-24 Fouls shots are indicators of style of play, clay almost always shoots more foul shoots than there opponents even on the road. Smith and Farmer attack the basket all the time. If you want more foul shots then quit jacking up 3's. Over a 3rd of Franklin Simpsons shot attempts where 3's.

And Franklin Simpson got all the from him the first 3 quarters, 2 of Smiths fouls where not even close and 2 of Lovans fouls where terrible calls. Corbin fans was even commenting how bad the calls where on both ends.

He had a player down under the goal and his team had the ball, and the refs wouldn't stop play, so he came out on floor yelling for a timeout

And i do agree about the questionable block call, i thought this was one of the worst officiated games ive seen in awhile, they missedd calls on both ends of the floor all night. The technical foul on Franklin Simpson coach was terrible, but then they turn around and make it up and give Blake Smith a technical for holding his hands up, giving him his 4th foul in the 3rd quarter. Refs where terrible all night. Hope they aren't as bad tonight.

Clay beats a good Franklin Simpson team tonight, Clay had as many 11 point lead in the game but Franklin Simpson battled back to keep it close. Blake Smith and Tavin Lovan put on a show during the game. Each had to have over 30 pts, and a couple monster dunks, and then after the game really put on a show in the finals of the dunk contest. Lovan is a super nice player couldn't be stopped, but Blake Smith couldn't. Either. Franklin Simpson better than i thought.
