  1. Campbell Co didn't impress me at all tonight, if they don't play better Scott will be 10th Region Champions.
  2. Glad I made the trip back to Maysville instead of going to the Lex Cath/Scott Co game. This was so fun to watch.
  3. Leave NKY for Winchester? Sounds about right I guess.
  4. So it's all just one big coincidence huh? Man must be nice.
  5. And brings in someone this summer to replace Hardiman.
  6. Wrong, I expect GRC to win next year as well. I'd say they'll have a couple transfers come in next year to help replace Hardiman.
  7. With the exception of Perkins MC is a small team. I don't expect the Camels to have any issues rebounding tonight.
  8. The Knights vs the Cardinals for the 11th Region Championship Monday night in Richmond. These two teams met on December 13th in Lexington with Lex Cath winning 59-55. Thoughts on who makes the trip to Rupp next week?
  9. Not sure if you've realized this or not, but Bracken needs more than just Crawford to win games like these. If he's the only one to show up then it'll get really ugly. Engnes, Jones, Appleman, and the Fisher brothers all need to play a great game for them to even have a chance. Campbell Co proved vs GRC that they can buckle down defensively and I expect them to do so tomorrow night as well.
  10. So you're saying after his mother was no longer employed by the school he should've went back to Bracken County? Lol cmon now. Give credit where credit was due, MC has done it the right way from the beginning.
  11. Phil Barner is the only other person I could think of, but it wasn't recruitment, he came to Maysville to live with one of his parents. He got very few minutes of PT also, so yes I'm absolutely sure.
  12. Pretty sure his mother was also an employee at MCHS, I never lived in Mason County either, but I did go to school there because my mother was an employee.
  13. Treg Setty came to Mason County his 2nd grade year from Pebles, OH because his mother got a teaching job at Straub Elementary. So unless they knew that he, Darius, and everyone else were gonna be State Champions in the 2nd grade, then yes all of Mason County's teams are home grown. Which to me is pretty impressive.
  14. I've never disagreed with a post more, Mason County has had its ups and downs in both boys and girls basketball, the highs are just higher than almost everyone elses. The boys team lost to Augusta in the first round of districts two years in a row, then in the district finals last year to them as well, 2015 was the first girls Regional Championship since the 1980s so IMO they're far from spoiled, especially on the girls side. I can see it with the boys, but they've only had 1 Regional Championship in 7 years and to me thats underachieving for the talent they've had. Back to the game, I've watched about 20 different videos, including one I took myself, and I do believe it was a walk, but I also agree one of the other two officials should have made the call instead of the one that was 35 feet from the play, but I guess all that matters was that it was the correct call. Mason Co had chances to put this game away and just simply didn't do it, AJ Reed had a lay-up opportunity that would have put them up by 4 with under a minute to go and got knocked on the top of the head (no foul was called) and lost the ball out of bounds to GRC, they also missed several open 3's that would've put it away also. I knew once Igo made the 3 in OT that it wasn't looking good. I do want to give major props to Coach Brad Cox, I thought he coached a great game and made substitutions/adjustments at great times, people have criticized him beyond belief but all in all I think he's done a great job with a 50-13 record in his first two seasons as a varsity head coach. Best of luck to the MCHS Seniors in their future endeavors, you guys built a program at MCHS and have given us as fans many great memories, you guys won and lost with class and represented Mason County the right way.
  15. As for the transfer thing, it does disappoint me to see 3-4 transfers come into a school a take them from what should've been a down year, to a 10th Region Championship. Scott County has been doing the same thing for years on the boys side, and if the State Legislation passes the Charter Schools it's only going to get worse. I do comgratulate GRC on the win, they played hard, but as a fan and someone who's been around the Mason County girls for years I'm heartbroken, for the players and their parents.
  16. IMO: she only took two steps when she had possession of the ball, if you're gonna make that call you can't be the official that's 35 feet away from the play. It's been fun Lady Royals, you will be deeply missed. Also, shout out to AJ Reed, she played awesome tonight.
  17. Wouldn't say Campbell owned the first, they only had a two point lead at halftime.
  18. The only regional tournament I can think of that was more boring thus far is 2008 when Mason County blitzed everyone. I expect this one to get more interesting assuming it's a Campbell/Paris or Campbell/Scott final. The Campbell/Scott final may not draw as big of a crowd as any of the other possible combinations of Championship games, but it would be a great game.
  19. Rematch of the 2015 10th Region Championship game, these two teams met in the regular season on January 25th in Winchester with the Lady Royals coming out on top 54-51. Who will be the 2017 10th Region Champions and why?
  20. Excellent game to watch, officials were bad but it was both ways. Mason County went on a 20-4 that stretched from the 3rd to 4th quarter and that pretty much sealed it. Campbell had chances as Mason Co stayed in their zone allowing open 3 point attempts but didn't connect on any.
