  1. Sharpe is not even close to 6'1. His dribbling is nowhere near where it needs to be when you are that size.
  2. I have finally seen everyone in the 7th. Here's my 2 cents. It's all about matchups. I know that sounds cliche but it's the truth. Manual is just bad. They will obviously not win the region. Eastern and Waggener are only slightly better than Manual. Waggener can't shoot the ball. Their only positive is height. I really don't know what Eastern does well. I guess they are fairly athletic and slightly more disciplined than Waggener. Neither are winning the region. St. X has been found out. They are fairly well coached but lack quickness and athleticism. You can let Mckim get 25 and still beat them. No 7th region title for X. The top four is all about matchups. One is no better than the other. Central has the most good players. Firman and Thompson are better than any player the other three have. Male and Trinity's strength is their defense and discipline. Coaching is also a strength for Male. I can't say that for Trinity. Cook for Male is very good but he's not dominant. Obviously Trinity is hard to beat if shooting 3's well. They are weak in the height, athleticism and strength dept. Ballard and Central are bad matchups for them. Male is a good matchup for Trinity however I give Male the advantage over Ballard. Ballard is undisciplined. You must stop Jamil to beat Ballard. They will not win against any of these 3 if he is stopped. I dont want to pick a winner until I see the 7th region draw.
  3. It has to be Mckim. Alex Cook would have been my preseason pick. The 7th region has been nothing but surprises all season.
  4. X will have played 8 teams in the current top 20 and Ballard twice after Friday nights game at Male.
  5. Losing to St. X in basketball is punishable by death or at least 15 spots in the rankings. Haha, I'm just kidding! Or am I!!!?
  6. We've already seen Owen County, Bowling Green and Dunbar play against Louisville schools in the KOB. I would rather see the tournament as it is now especially since some Louisville schools refuse to play each other any longer.
  7. Trinity over Valley, Eastern over Manual, Doss over PRP, Male over KCD, Ballard over CAL, Central over FC, NB over X and BE over Butler. Then Trinity over Eastern, Doss over Male, Ballard over Central and BE over NB. Finally Trinity over Doss, Ballard over BE and Trinty wins final.
  8. I don't disagree that a player on Covington Catholic should have made the point with a strong verbal warning to the kid that you cannot foul our best player and get away with it. I assume people know what I mean when I say strong verbal warning but I'm not surprised that didn't happen. Kids from 2 private schools are probably a little too pampered to realize that one of them should have stepped in and said something. Remember I didn't say to put a hand on the kid and it's possible one of the players from CC did say something and we don't know.
  9. I could see this game getting out of hand. St. X has great deal of difficulty scoring points. I say Cov Cath by 22.
  10. These rankings are laughable. I dont know which scenario is more riduculous. Waggener winning the region and Male finishing third or the fact that Trinity and Ballard aren't 1 and 2. I say that even with a true dislike for both Trinity and Ballard. Better coaches would have done more with the talent Ballard and Trinity has had over the last decade. With that said they will still be the 2 best teams in the 7th by the end of the season. Unless Male found some guards to get the ball to Cook and Brownley they will be the same very average team. Waggener will have to win something before I declare them the best team. Best talent does does not always equal best team. I also dont see any difference in Eastern at 4, Manual at 9 and X at 10. Seneca and KCD ahead of St. X and Manual. Give me a break. Let's try: 1. Trinity(if referees let them play, this years teams is nasty/PRP old school defense if u know what I mean) 2. Ballard(if referees dont let Trinity play put Ballard at 1) 3. Central 4. Waggener 5. Eastern 5. St. X 5. Manual 5. Male 9. KCD 10. Seneca
  11. Does anyone know the teams in this tournament? I think the dates are 12/21, 12/22 & 12/23.
  12. So if St. Xavier doesn't have the flexibility that Trinity has what then does their recriutment pitch entail since I'm assuming your saying that X won't offer as much aid as Trinity. Let's see. Hi Jason and James, I'm an assistant basketball coach at St.X. We would love to have you come to our school, receive a great education and will even pay $3,000.00 of your $13,000.00 per year tuition. Or did you mean something else by flexibility? If that's what you meant, I dont believe arrogant St. X would even waste their time knowing Trinity can outbid them for any and every kid.
  13. St. Xavier basketball doesnt go after 8th graders. If they do it's not very often.
  14. Go ahead and put Trinity, Waggener, Eastern, Ballard & Central in a hat and pick one out. I believe there is very little difference in these teams. You can pick each one apart. Waggener is the most talented but how many people would really go out on a limb and pick them. Male has potential to scare each of these teams on a given night. Manual has to replace everyone. They actually looked pretty good in the summer but I put zero stock in summer high school ball. It looks like a very long season for St. Xavier.
  15. I would not sleep on Eastern. Despite losing two very good seniors I believe they will be better this year. Last years team had very bad chemistry. They currently have some very good sophomores and juniors.
  16. This game could be very ugly. Best 5 on east boys(whomever that might be) probably cant stay within 15 of worst 5 for west.
  17. I agree that Ballard should be very good. Where will the scoring come from? I know Jamil will put up 15 points per game and the inside bigs will do there share with offensive putbacks. How about the rest.
  18. 7th region is awful in regards to individual players. Alex Cook is a good player consequently he is going to Bellarmine. I don't know the other two. The jury is still out in my opinion on the Waggener players. Have they beaten anybody who's good i high school. Let me see where they go to college and more importantly let's see if any of them stay at one particular school longer than a year.
  19. It appears to be the Waggener and Central show regarding top players returning. Trinity has no one returning averaging over 3.5 ppg Manual no one returning higher than 4.5 ppg Ballard has Jamil Wilson at the point(9.5 ppg) Eastern: Jonathon Lane at 8.2 ppg Male: Alex Cook at 10.6 ppg and Hogan Brownley at 8.2 ppg. Both over 6 rebounds a game St. Xavier: Connor Mckim at 9.3 ppg Central and Waggener deserve a seperate thread
  20. I only say Trinity because I've heard Waggener could have a player or two transfer. If everyone comes back Waggener will be more talented than Trinity but I dont think the wildcat players are thrilled with their coach. The 2015-16 rocks are the opposite of last years team. Szabo will go from a group that he could not wake up to one that wont calm down. They will be very agressive and probably even up tempo if coach can handle it. Trinity fans will enjoy this team much more than the previous. With that said I dont know if they will be any better in the end. Not very big team right now but we all know trinity is good at getting players transfered in. I expect at least one new player.
  21. It's not much of a stretch to say it will be the same 8 teams competing for the 7th region title as this past year. Trinity/Waggener, Male/St.X, Central/Manual and Ballard/Eastern. The team listed first being the champion in that district. KCD has 2 very nice players in Anthony Mathis and Colin Ferguson. They could upset Ballard or Eastern but it's unlikely. I believe St.X and Manual will be hurt the most by graduation. I believe X loses 4 of their 5 starters. They also lose almost all of their athleticism which I would call average in relation to the rest of the region. They return two maybe three players with decent playing time. Manual could really drop off considering where they were. I believe they lose all 5 starters. They lose their best player in Sutton and there best ball handler in Harness. Without transfers Just may be looking at a long season. I believe Male will be much more consistent and could be a surprise team. Male has two very nice players returning in Alex Cook and Hogan Brownley. I don't know who their guards are but i will be shocked if Male goes another year without good guard play. Add a new coach and some guards to get the ball to Alex and Hogan and I see good things for Male. I'll get to the rest later.
