  1. Well after watching the film and after reading all of this I think this is accurate to say. Simon Kenton 43 Walton Verona 41. Sk just made 1 more smart play and won the game officials make bad calls but you can't put it all on them play the next play and move on. Like I said in a previous thread games in December doesn't decide your season move on.
  2. Not sure to Laugh or to just shake my head. 1st thing is McClendon gained clear separation when she drove that's why she got called for it. 2nd i'm not going to even respond to your 3-second comment the count was called as it should have been. 3rd I will agree with you on carrying the ball but when you put your entire hand underneath the ball and turn it over that is when you have to make the call and that is what happened in this situation. McClendon is a good player but she is not at all smooth with the ball I am not sure if any of the guards up here are smooth with the ball that you are saying. As for Ally picking up at the foul line and making a lay up I can probably get a bunch of the NKY guards to do the same move very easy to make it. as for Home Court calls the 9th region probably is the worst for this especially if the officials have it out for a coach or team. Yes they are supposed to be neutral and not have a favorite but in the voice of the great Chris Burman Com' On Man. The 9th region has a majority of them that shouldn't be doing varsity ball I can probably think of about 9 or 10 really good officials in that region as well as the 8th and their were 2 decent ones for this game. Rant over
  3. Unless the official deemed that the horn had sounded prior to the foul then he can wave off his foul happens all the time where the horn and whistle goes off at the same time and the official waves off the foul due to the clock had expired prior to the act
  4. a Eurostep is the same as a regular layup but your "1 & 7/8th" step are to the side n not forward, the shot goes up on that last 7/8th step just like a regular straight forward layup. Just because it looks different doesn't mean it's illegal, it's not a walk on any level of play. I just talked to a good friend of mine who is a Div. 1 coach and that is what he had to say about it
  5. You can keep in contact with the offensive player with a hand or arm, as long as you are in a legal defensive guarding position, you can not use any force nor your body weight to push them off the block. Honestly I think it's one of the hardest calls for an official to make wether the defensive player is just in contact or does she actually displace or force the offensive player from the spot on the floor. Because legally both players have the right to the same spot on the floor
  6. Obviously you don't know basketball at all, there were plenty of time for holy cross to win this game. As for the traveling calls and such. Ally's move is a Euro step it's 2 steps.Which is perfectly legal in basketball. 3 seconds is not a true 3 seconds certain parameters have to be met, both feet in the lane, player in possession of the ball can not be called for it, and if there is a shot in the air 3 seconds is suspended and starts over if the team regains possession. The elbow from Meier was she was protecting herself she was getting pushed off the block the entire game being displaced and she had enough of it. It did not meet the basketball rule requirements for a flagrant nor did it meet anywhere near a ejectionable foul. Nice try though. The reason for McClendons offensive fouls were that she gained separation when she went in her drives and gained an advantage over a defensive player in legal defensive position. I'm not saying SK is perfect by any means or are they at all the best team ever. But theplayed within the playing rules and made big key baskets and made defensive stops. Holy Cross just got out played and couldn't seal it when they had the chance to. Don't take anything away from the Girls man. OFFICIATING HAD NOTHING to do with this game it was even the entire way.
  7. What are you talking about? Holy Cross shot just about the same amount of free throws as SK this game was not about officiating. Niece and McClendon battled back and forth the entire game. The officials call it both was on drive taking the ball from each player. I might agree that one foul was a little sketchy. Plus 3 of SK starters had could trouble also Buckner fouled out. Meier had 4. The only thing that was different was that HC had to foul at the end to stop the clock so the officials did their job and did preventive officiating and called the touch fouls at the end so that the fouls didn't get out of hand by that I mean so that none of the Girls got hurt. So like I said officiating did not decide this game. SK was the better team this game and you can't take that away from them. Take the loss move on to the next team. Games in December doesn't decide your season.
  8. This was a very fun game to watch as mentioned. Holy Cross went up early and got to a 10 point lead. The Lady Pioneers battled back and tied it at half with a 3 at the buzzer. Then after some adjustments made at half by Coach Stowers SK never looked back they went rolling after a 12 point lead at one point it almost looked liked SK had it. But the Lady Indians never gave up everything was through McClendon for them letting her drive and if that wasn't their they had Gabbard on the inside to help. Both McClendon and Gabbard had 16 points for HC. As for SK Niece went rolling in the 2nd half and finished strong for SK Ally finished with 27 points and 7 assists. With 13 of 14 from the line. Harmeyer is coming through for SK and is looking really good she finished with I believe a career high of 17 points she also had 8 rebounds. And went 5 of 5 from the line and if I'm not mistaken she played the entire game not bad for 32 minutes on the hardwood. Things that surprises me is Meier for SK, she is coming out slow and isn't being a force down in the post I just hope this is the beginning of the season jitters for her. The game was pretty evenly officiated too there were some questionable calls on both ends but it did not decide the game at all. This was a great game to watch and SK gets a win over the State Champs. Should be a good season for NKY Basketball and like RCC9 says this is going to be fun to watch up here. Stats came from maxpreps and KHSAA website
  9. Wow big win for the raiders any stats for this?
  10. just food for thought here, Does Holmes have Athletes? Yes, Are they a tough team? yes, Honestly if the go up against any other team who has big girls on the inside and that can compete with them Holmes will be a non factor, their entire strategy for this game was run run run. once you get some of these other NKY teams who can run with them they will be in trouble. Holmes didn't impress me with shooting all their points were off turnovers for easy lay ups. As for the coaching I feel truly sorry for that staff. What in the world are you doing up by 53 at one point still playing your starters and running a full court run and jump. what are you trying to prove in the first week of the season??? Absolutely nothing. This showed no class whatsoever as a coach and if I was one of those Holmes JV players I would be very angry with that staff. Get your younger ones in there to get some minutes on the varsity level especially so they can play at that pace of the game. This was just a shameful act and really showed no sportsmanship at all. Coach Wendlen handled herself and team professionally never giving up and kept her girls in the fight. I see great things getting ready to happen at Boone.
  11. who? the school or the parents that she has to deal with?
  12. I think that coach stowers has been doing this long enough that he will play the best girl that he sees fit. So all this talk about who's going to play well let's leave that up to him. The guy knows what he's doing
  13. Heard from a rumor mill that SK's Ally Niece has been officially offered by Xavier University, Ally will be a sophomore next year and will be one of the starting guards for the Lady Pioneers and she is a stud to say the least. Congrats to her if this is true and I am sure there are a lot more D1 offers heading her way.
  14. the word with the Ryle job is that the principal has been out of town and interviews were not able to be done until he got back in town so I would say that once interviews are going to be set up after dead period
  15. SK's Maggi Bosse will be joining fellow SK Pioneer Abby Owings at Thomas More College
  16. I'm not going to try to sit here all night so I'll just come out with it. SK beat the teams they needed to. Won the region and went to state only 2 NKY teams did that and one is the state champions. So for everyone else good job nice try but you didn't make it better luck next year.
  17. Take a look at SKs schedule its filled with plenty of 9th region teams, so you knot saying sk has had no success in the 9th is kinda silly. It's not like SK asked to be moved out of the 9th, would they have won the region this year if they were still in it I'm not sure we will not know the answer to that. The thing is SK has had plenty of success against 8th and 9th region teams in the past few years
  18. So after looking over the past 18 years Highlands has only won the region twice. the School that you say I love has won 3 times in the same amount of time. Also, Let's take a look at making it to the regional championship game 12 out of the past 18 years Highlands didn't even make it to the regional championship game. The school I love has been 7 times in same amount of times, so when we say never then yes history doesn't lie and my friend this is the truth.
  19. So in less wordy terms lets just say that Highlands has never been able to pull it off and Win the Region
  20. Come On man, Last years team played like individuals there was not a lot of team play with that group, the only one who played for the team was Cox, This year I see more of a team effort, the group making quick passes and giving it up to each other. Kelsey Schmiade had 5 assts. last night and that is what she does she creates open shots for the TEAM. If last years team was better then they would have had the Trip to Diddle too. SK was A top team in the State too and so them having to play a Top 3 team didn't mean anything.
  21. Simon Kenton Takes down Oldham County tonight in the 8th Region Tournament. The Lady Pioneers are scheduled to take on the Lady Rockets of Shelby County Friday Night at 8pm. But look for weather pushing backs these games as several inches of snow is supposed to move in.
  22. I think Olham Co., Shelby Co. And Anderson Co have something to say about this
