Simon Kenton 55 Oldham County 32

Simon Kenton Takes down Oldham County tonight in the 8th Region Tournament. The Lady Pioneers are scheduled to take on the Lady Rockets of Shelby County Friday Night at 8pm. But look for weather pushing backs these games as several inches of snow is supposed to move in.

Congrats to the SK Lady Pioneers! Stowers said that this team would come in with the memory of last year's disappointing final as their motivation, and they came out hot, racing to a 14-0 lead before Oldham could blink.

Kudos to Oldham for not letting the game completely get out of hand; just when it seemed SK would land the knockout blow, Oldham just kept hanging around. Oldham rallied from a first half deficit of 19 points, and had three straight possessions in the third period when they had the ball with a chance to cut the lead to 10 or less.

One other comment about this game - not necessarily basketball-related:

I want to speak for a lot of folks when I thank both the SK and Oldham County pep bands. These two bands put on a SHOW.....their playing was not the typical garden-variety pep band music; both played spectacularly. Oldham had an unusually small unit for them, but it didn't seem to matter. The kids who were there sounded great. And SK was similarly awesome. Both bands seemed to be having a lot of fun, and they cheered for each other. I noted the two bands mingling and socializing a bit after the game. Great display of school spirit, sportsmanship, and fantastic music!

THANK YOU!
