Weyer is by far the top player on the team, no one is debating that, but if this is the case, they are sure to be an early exit in the Region again this year. When you have teams that have 4 or 5 strong and a big bench, you will just wear down a player like this. I think this is one reason NCC was strong last year because you had Pangallo, McDonald, Weyer, Moeves and a couple others. But you saw at Region that without a bench you won't make it as far. JMO

I honestly thought I was going to see a Pangallo/Hall punch tonight and didn't see it. Figured I would be seeing the next Pangallo to take the reins at NCC. Not putting pressure/high expectations on the kid, he is still developing and does a really nice job. Imagine what he will be like in 2 years when he is a Sr.

That's consistent.. Turn around fade away jumpers are super impressive. He gets real high on his jumpers that kids just don't get close to him to block it.

Looks like the Coach Dawn is in for a long season if no one wants to step up and be a leader. And the technical seemed to be proof of those frustrations. You have Weyer that can score at will but tends to force many shots. Several appeared to run the point tonight based on the 2nd half I saw, but no one stood out. Played only what looked like 6, maybe 7 kids in the 2nd half. Would think they would have learned after the early exit from Regionals last year you need to use your bench more. Have to give it up to the Jugs for the fight they gave the whole game and to the Breds for holding them off.

Walk in at half and not what I expected. NCC not playing like the team I've seen in the past. They seem to lack leadership on the floor.

Now this could be a whole thread of its own. I don't know these officials so this is not to be a knock on them. This is more general statement on the KHSAA. Is the KHSAA sending their best officials to work these state tournament games? This could go for any sport. The best generally are not sent to work the state tournament from each region being that if the same guys went every year why would guys want to officiate? Are the schools/kids truly getting the best the state has to offer? I would personally like to sees the same guy each year if I know he is going to work a good game versus someone worrying their first state game ever and then possible not being ready for it.

Isn't the box 6 feet wide? 3 feet both ways. If not, a foot and a half doesn't give you much room.

Every time I see a Scott score I think it's an NBA game being played. Being of course that the NBA doesn't tend to play much defense either.. :-)

Is that without it being reported? It's been said on here many times where the kids have been disrespectful to other fans. Just because it has been going on for so long doesn't mean the kids don't need to be in check. They are HS kids which don't always tend to look ahead a to see what their actions can do. I'll be clear, I'm all for them and they are entertaining to watch. But you can't say "without incident" to quickly.

While you are correct that he may not get to play against larger stronger kids at the JV level but he will get to work on perfecting his moves and his shot. Additional confidence at the JV level may push him harder at the varsity level. I'll agree going hard at practice against other bigs helps but you get into bad patterns. Kids tend to do the same things over and over. Playing against different opponents both big or small allows for variations in play which is where it helps them grow.

Don't think enough coaches/schools do that with their sophomore/Jrs. If they are not getting a good chunk of playing time at varsity they only benefit in playing JV to help improve confidence and more ball time.

I thinks the moment Hawkins enters the gym he becomes in range for an attack. The kid isn't flashy and isn't selfish, and when teams lose track of him he will hurt them by draining 3s. Good luck SK on your season!!

Not being at the game how did he look and what did he play? Wondering if he will be the commander of the troops or his sidekick. Either one I would pick him 1st on the playground. :-)
