That's a lot of pressure you're heaping onto Johnson Central boss; calling them a clear favorite.

Mayfield winning would be an upset. Henry Clay winning would be an upset of serious proportions.

I believe this much is certain and without a disagreement: This will be the best opponent that Johnson Central has faced, and it probably will not be the best opponent that CovCath has played (considering that Cincy St. X was nationally ranked all year). Now I'm nearly certain that means nothing, at least in and of itself, but it is to be expected given that JC is undefeated and CovCath has tallied 3 losses north of the River.

Sorry to interrupt your "woe is us" monologue, but to echo cshs81, there aren't any CCH fans that would call a loss to JC in your place the end to a disappointing season. Believe me, if CCH fans thought this game was going to be easy there wouldn't be all of these folks (including me) planning on driving 4 hours the day after Thanksgiving to watch. We'd just wait until Louisville. We are well aware of how difficult this game will be. I think, given the game being in Paintsville, and the unblemished record of the Eagles, you have to consider CCH underdogs. Heck, it's their first game on grass and they have a long bus ride ahead of them.

I disagree with Cshs81, I think an apology was most certainly needed...and hat's off to Mr. Wehry for doing so. Not knowing a city's name is one thing, referring to them as being in the "middle of nowhere" was way over the line. Tip of the hat Mr. Wehry for having the class to apologize, and not letting a lot of time pass before doing so. Nice move! Covington Catholic prides itself on being a program of class, and while Mr. Wehry's off-the-cuff comments may not have represented that, his apology most assuredly did! Further, thanks to Theoldguy for passing it along.

I was dead wrong about LexCath's ability to get to 30...wow, what a speedy set of receivers. Just when you think another one CAN'T get behind your defense, there you go. What was even more impressive than their speed, believe it or not, was their ability to go WAY UP and pull balls out of the air that looked destined to be picked off. UnderArmour, thanks for the updates. Cannonball Brown has the heart of a lion...period. Lexington Catholic should be ashamed at their PA system...flat out embarrassed. Hancock is a gutsy little guy that plays with a ton of effort -- easy kid to root for. Ben Revere is exceptional. Off the chart. I bet if you would have told LexCath that Joe Casteneda wouldn't play (for all practical purposes) and Bovard would have ZERO catches...I bet they would have gassed up the busses for Paintsville. Great effort by both teams....fun game to watch. Looking foward to making the drive on Friday.

The rest of Ohio D-I is down this year, after Colerain and St. X, and I don't think it's insulting to anyone to say that Male is not of the same ilk as those two. In as much T / Male is a battle in KY this weekend of the two best big schools, Ohio has a similar match-up tonight at Nippert. Regardless of the particulars, congrats to "H" on some great recognition. If nothing else, it's nice to have KY schools bringing in some National Recognition.

Central takes the Region 2, District 3 Championship. They have bounced back well since their loss in the last week of the season. They'll host Southwestern next week for a chance to meet (probably) Bowling Green in the Final 4. Onward and upward for Central. :thumb:

Final. The Purples are, predictably, District Champs and await the winner of Tilghman and Hoptown.

Which would make them winning even more impressive -- right? I didn't get the "but," sorry.
