Scott High School junior led the conversation with an impassioned speech about what he wants done for his fellow classmates. "We as a student body are asking for help," said Casey Child, the school's junior class vice president. With parents and teachers behind him, packing the board’s public meeting room, Child painted a picture of out of control students and school leadership unable to institute measures to keep the 1,150 high school student body in line. "If a teacher were to try to give a kid an assignment, often a kid will refuse to do an assignment, and there will be no repercussions," Child said after the meeting. Child is not alone in his assessment of the school’s poor academic progress. In Kentucky’s 2012-2013 uniformed testing report card of Scott, the Taylor Mill school fell in the 41st percentile for scores amongst public schools in the state. The score landed Scott in the “needs improvement” category for the second year in a row. Kenton County’s two other high schools, Simon Kenton and Dixie Heights, both scored in the 87th percentile last year.

Agreed, the perception comes from a coach that takes no action according to the play on the field.

All I'm trying to say is to me it's seems wrong that the other 3 teams have to play each other to seed and the almighty is given the 1 seed. Has it always been this way, has there been blind draws or have they had to play? Has Cov Cath won every district championship ever? Has there never been an upset?

Holy Cross 2 Holmes 1
Your right they could run away with the district title The problem is that they don't play anyone in the district, why is that fair? I'm assuming that there is an agreement between coaches in the district stating they don't have to play? In Lexington each district team plays twice a home and away game. That's how it should be everywhere.

Imo Scott high school as a whole needs a better direction. I am friends with a few teacher and they tell me how bad it is and that their hands are tied as far as discipline. I thinks it's a trickle down effect. The soccer program is loaded with talent but all anyone sees is the dirty play, and loud mouth of certain players. This stems from no control from the coaching staff, although they are good people they must not have control over their team. Imo if the coaching staff would stop complaining and start controlling the team/players would be seen for their talents not their down falls. Take for instance the Cooper/Zane Ross incident, Cooper coaching staff did the correct thing by asking him to leave. Had they let him stay, they would have invited every player on the team to act that way, same with Boone co coach giving extra suspension time to players that received cards for mouthing, both coaches decided that discipline was more important than winning games. I don't think Scott's coaching staff is willing to do this, therefore this argument will never end. You want it to stop? Go to your AD and ask for a new coach!!!!!!!

Holy cross has yet to play Latin, and why would it matter if they play or not when Cov Cath doesn't play any of them. I know it would do nothing for Cov Cath but if I were a coach of one of the teams in the district I'd want to play them for seeding. We all know that Cov Cath is the all mighty in that district, winning it EVERY year, but what about this is fair to the other teams?

If the player in white hit the keeper it should have been straight Red 1: he is not even looking for the ball 2: he is turning his shoulder towards the keepers chest Yes as a keeper you have to expect contact, you are no longer able to bring your knee up to protect yourself in high school so it's the job of the ref to protect the keeper. It's a different story if the player is actually trying to play the ball, then it becomes a 50/50 ball and free for all.

How does the seeding work if no team plays Cov Cath? Does that mean Cov Cath is the 4 seed since they have 0 wins in the district?

I hear people blaming referees for the red cards, I respond with "every team in Nky sees the same refs, not all teams have red cards" Not sure what these parents /players/coaches are thinking, it may be a direct reflection on Scott high school and where it's headed as a whole. Good luck to them next year trying to schedule teams. No one will want to play you.
