I will say this, IF Newport can contain the run and force Scott to go to the air it could get lucky. The Scott QB is not much of a passer as he just kinda throws it up in hopes someone catches it. My final thoughts on this one

as for Lloyd in the discussion, they beat Dayton and Holmes... neither one of those are better than WV. Now it comes down to Newport and NewCath. Newport played a solid Mason Co. team and lost by 4 (w/o Mason's starting QB) and beat a solid WV team. NewCath has lost to two much bigger (and in most cases should be better) schools in Cooper and Campbell. The district is going to come down between Newport and NewCath, sorry Lloyd. Scott poses a good threat but its a winnable game for Newport as well as Williamsburg. Newport should be no worse than 7-3 if not 8-2. And as for Newport the best in 2A....... find out in December

not impressed with this NewCath team at all... the QB looks like he may end up a good player but as for the rest, O-line was rough and the RB's looked like they were afraid to get hit. This could end up being a long year up on the hill

Mason was 12-1 last year and returned MOST starters this year. Mason is a very solid squad. You play the games on the schedule. What sense does it make for NewCath to schedule all these games if they dont win them? They will be 0-4 heading into Lloyd. NewCath is not very good this year from what I have seen and what I have heard from other people connected to NewCath. Don't be so upset that Newport is better this year.

How does Newcath stay at #4 after gettin throttled last week? and Newport gets no votes and WV only 2?

According to their schedule, their next 3 week are Bye, @Scott and Williamburg. They should be able to get a feel of if they can be a contender or a pretender.

After the win Friday over Walton, what do you all think about this year's Newport squad?

HUGE win for Newport... Not the best game played as Newport tried over and over to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and TO's.... however, they were just the better team... much much more athletic than Walton... #5 for Walton is a good player
