Glad the Breds were competitive.

That's respectable.

Overall I'm somewhat pleased with the Breds performance, in all honesty I didn't give them a change at scoring after last weeks game. New QB, Soph. Patrick Henschen, overall did a commendable job in his 1st career varsity start. The kid throws a nice ball, but has got to learn to get rid of it quicker when the rush is on. Too many times tonight it was his downfall, but it should get better from game to game with more experience. Also, the offensive line has got to a better job of giving him protection. Tonight it was "sieve" like, thus leading to Henschen scrambling for his life.

 

Jake Smith did an alright job running the ball against the Camels. Soph. Linebacker Austin Neff and D-lineman Jr. Maleek Lawrence, were doing all they could to stop the Campbell Co. run attack. Jr. Erik Anderson had quite a few very impressive punts, including one on the free kick that was caught by the Camels at their own 10.

 

Breds had 3 or 4 costly penalties that helped the Camels to scores. After the Camels punted, a PF at the end of the play put the Breds on their own 11 and 2 plays later the safety, and on 4th and 5 from the Camels own 40 the Breds jump offsides resulting in a 1st down and a few plays later they go into the endzone.

 

The NewCath pass defensne is just about "non-existent".

 

Next week could be real ugly, but as long as improvements are made and everyone stays healthy for another week I'll take it.

There must have been 2 games tonight, one of which you watched and the one I watched. First off, Pat did a great job considering he has only gotten a 1/3 of the reps in practice all year long. Taking this much time (2 weeks ) into the season to figure out he is "the man" is a reflection of an inadequate OC, period, end of story. Secondly, the oline was noticeably better than last week. On many occasions they gave the QB more than enough time to throw or run, but again, because of the lack of reps (not his fault) the inexperience showed. When he did throw he made an incredible amount of completions. If anyone has that stat please share with us. Referring back to the oline, the OC makes their job 1000 percent harder when the defense knows what's going to happen. Campbell Co. did a nice job of sending more defenders than could be accounted for. No hard counts, no misdirection, wr sets that everyone knows are bogus with the personnel on the field. Nothing that would disrupt the tempo, nothing! He didn't put any of these kids in position to be successful tonight. The coaches expect the kids to play, but the players expect the coaches to put them in situations to be successful. If you are a d coordiantor you only need to know 5 plays and you can defend against this team. Anderson did a fantastic job of punting tonight. If he continues to perform like that the rest of the year, he could quite possibly be first team all state at that position.

not impressed with this NewCath team at all... the QB looks like he may end up a good player but as for the rest, O-line was rough and the RB's looked like they were afraid to get hit. This could end up being a long year up on the hill

Like I said, I think Pat's job tonight was commendable considering it was his 1st ever varsity start.

 

I agree, they (O-line) did look better than last week and at times gave him time to pass, but they have to do a better job.....whether it's personnel or the OC, as you put it, "disrupting the tempo".

 

Agree 1000% on the Anderson comment, the hang time and distance on that free kick was "sick"!!!

Sounds like Breds fans are getting restless. I know losses suck but you all have to look at the big Picture. The early season schedule is brutal and you have several key positions that seem to be a work in progress. You have to use these early games to figure out who you will take to battle with you when District games start.

 

Nice to See the Henschen Boy get his first start.

 

Congrats to coach Lickert and the Camels. Those boys are going to make some noise in 6A.

Makes us look second class. I commend the coaches for pulling the cord after the 1st game. These games are going to be rough and the District looks to be greatly upgraded to seasons past. Either way it goes, no reason to blast coaches on the internet. Leave that to schools that complain about their lack of success.

There's were you are wrong, criticism is what forces programs to get better. Everything stated is a matter of fact, not bashing and not personal. Its a criticism of poor game planning by an oc, plain and simple. What's a forum for? Different views or to push your self righteousness on someone else?

Come on. You complain that the QB doesn't get enough reps at practice and then whine that the offense is too vanilla in the game. How exactly do you plan to open up the play book w a Sophomore who hasn't gotten many reps at practice, let alone at the Varsity level? It is going to be a process and you call Schneider inadequate after part 1? Give it time. Go check out Trinity's threads and see how they handle it. If they look bad 5 games from now I can see having an issue.

It isn't the losing. It is how you lose that causes discontent. The Breds have not been competitive yet. How often has that happened in the past 5-10 years?
