But I will say for those of us (ME) who are not nearly as familiar with the depth and breadth of talent in the 859, the back and forth gives me names and teams to look for when they show up on my kids' schedules. I am not nearly as fortunate, committed or available to attend games where my heirs are not on the pitch. My center ref throws a red card down on that, grounds for immediate disqualification! :no: I also agree on a previous post for the tenor of the comments. Yellow, I actually liked your game recap and fair description of the ref. From what I saw, I thought the Cooper player embellished the fall, and was actually the one first yanking on the defender. And if it went down that way, good on the Cooper kid. He did what he could to change the flow of the game and get the foul called. I do have to say Snow did have a solid PK goal, low, to the post with pace. So in the end, you have your perspective, I have mine. And the only one that counted last night was the center ref's. And he saw it your way. Rivera is a finisher. He also had a third goal called back on an off sides or something. I was encouraged on Dixie's play from this perspective. Overall they played OK, with ample opportunity for improvement, to clean up their play. Based on earlier discussions I thought that Cooper was going to run Dixie over. So I will not comment beyond saying you have to try the fried Oreos at the Dixie concession stand. And the Marching Taco received a thumbs up as well.

Something else is bothering me about the discussion of the Scott keeper "elbowing" the Trinity player. If the keeper is so vicious, why did the attacker go into the goal box and challenge the keeper on a ball that looks to have been lobbed into the box (a high jump ball)? That would have avoided the contact, the striker not challenging for the ball. Any suggestions on how the keeper, who is entitled to reach up for the ball and grab it out of the air above the attacking player before they can make contact with the ball, can do so without exposing forearms and elbows? Ask the Trinity kid, who I am very happy to hear is not seriously injured and was released from the hospital, if he expected to make contact with the keeper, and I'm sure he'd say yes. I'd like to know how my kid, who is a keeper, is supposed to reach up for a ball, expose her midsection to elbows, and chin and face to a head-but, and not make contact with a striker who is intent to get to the ball before or dislodge it from the keeper's hands directly or via a hard landing? That being said, I am not advocating for a hockey or lacrosse kind of goal box where attackers cannot enter and impede the keeper. It's part of the game, like a 50-50 in the field from a keeper punt. OTB, That's were I was going next, the reasons for the cards are not all created equal. A card for unsportsmanlike conduct or delay of game is not equivalent to dirty play. That gets to my point. Cards being issued is not an automatic implication of dirty play, as insinuated earlier in the thread. Example in the Trinity vs. Scott game, I don't think the Trinity coach who received a card had a dangerous tackle, nor did everyone's favorite card receiving subject Treadway for booting the ball after the whistle (both are as I was told by game reports). So the argument for cards = dirty play breaks down. Cards may indicate that but don't equate that. This plus kids being so close to playing in and winning a state championship they can taste it leads to reasons the CR will toss out cards in an attempt to settle the game down -- not all dirty playing.
